Bothered by an idiotic friend who consistantly comes crawling back to some girl that treats him like **** after she makes herself feel better by using him. After he's thrown aside, he then gets all emo and I'm the one who ends up hearing about it despite telling him to 'grow a ****ing pair because you sound like a *****.'

It bothers me that our IT department couldn't figure out why our company website was "broken" (by broken I mean there were half a dozen broken links on the homepage) yet after looking at the HTML for two minutes I figured out exactly what caused the problem (our domain name changed, and several of the links on the homepage weren't updated to the new domain).

It even sadder when one considers that I'm a marketing intern with no formal IT training...

If the links are on the same subdomain (e.g. not on foo.your-domain.com) you all should just be using relative paths anyways, then you don't have to worry about stuff like this.

Code: [Select]
<a href="/my-relative-path">Super sweet page</a>

Also, well done.

Yup, that's what the problem was. The rest of the links on the site used relative pathways, EXCEPT for a handful of ones on the homepage (don't ask me why, I didn't code the site). Meanwhile, the head of IT was going on about how customers were calling in and complaining, and I already knew what the problem was and how to fix it.

Maybe I should switch departments...?

Does your company hire based on competence or based on that piece of paper that says you went to college?

If the prior, maybe I should send them a resume! :))

Time to replace the flapper?  It costs around $5 here.

Ah right, we'll i haven't had too much time to investigate. but I'm honestly not sure. Been having problems with the handle for a long time (having to tighten it up every weekend or so) and I imagine something has gone where that connects to the main body, because the cistern still fills up fine. Hopefully get some time to have a gander tomorrow, plumbers are expensive. :(

Last time my toilet was broken I didn't need a plumber... just some duct tape and a plastic discount card for a liquor store.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

The toxic set is still currently in limbo.  I can't have my plates for that board made until I know what sizes of space bars are officially going to be offered.

Let's be realistic--I don't think it's going to happen.  Unless it's run through SP's new interface, maybe.  The whole group buy needs to be re-started if it were to happen too.

I agree with you there. I pm'ed dan and he was hinting at that.  Nothing in stone but was dropping some hints.  It would be a shame to take that time to develop that custom color and it not go through.

It bothers me that people still exist to receive compensation for potentially violently enforcing outrageously absurd laws, which should never have become law in the first place, which remain established due to self-justifying precedent, despite all possible valid arguments raised against said laws.

Actually, it would be better to list what ISN'T bothering me.

Everyone has their opinions on what should or shouldn't be legal/illegal. I'm not arguing anything in that regard. It still remains though that certain things are illegal. And just because you think they shouldn't be, or whether everyone in the world thinks they shouldn't, doesn't negate that fact.

And anyone could be anything. What's the point of bringing up violence? Because some police officers have done some things, automatically everyone other one is bad and they should all be removed?

Printers. ****ing printers... not printing. They seem to be the only computer related items I ever have problems with. Why do computer printers always have to suck so much?
Now I can't print postage labels to ship the GMK groupbuy, and I can't just go to the post office now either because I bought postage online which isn't ****ing refundable.

I got a refund when I bought USPS shipping labels online. Or is that not what you're referring to Ivan?

Yes, **** the police for catching you in your illegal actions. **** them so much.

It bothers me that people still exist to receive compensation for potentially violently enforcing outrageously absurd laws, which should never have become law in the first place, which remain established due to self-justifying precedent, despite all possible valid arguments raised against said laws.

Clearly, if something is illegal the only way you can express your displeasure at it being illegal is to do it, I mean, what else are you suppose to do?

No one should be paying anyone to harass anyone else over any particular plant material, especially not violently.

And yes, every police officer WILL escalate to violence if their commands are not obeyed; don't try to act like they'll just be all "oh, well, if you don't want to, that's cool, i wasn't really serious... have a nice day!"

The only appropriate way to correct this particular (though vaguely referenced) issue, is to change the law that is wrong (and it is). That way, all those enforcers don't need to be "removed," and can still do what they're supposed to do, minus at least one thing they should not be doing.

You're both being ridiculous. Obviously, if you're opposed to something being illegal, then there are ways to get those laws repealed. It's been done plenty of times.

Law enforcement requires the use of force, when necessary, to enforce because it helps keep people in check. Obviously there are always going to be people who disregard these enforcers, but the promise of unwanted force if you disregard their enforcement is what keeps most people in line. Without that, people would run rampant because there would be nothing stopping them from doing what they wanted. Chaos would ensue.

No... well with stamps.com... while it might be possible to get a refund, it would take too long to be useful to me at the moment.
Besides... taking some odd hundreds of small parcels to an actual post office would be some other kind of hell anyway.

Re: COPS... the problem with use of force is it is now more often than not excessive and unwarranted in so many scenarios. I have no idea why some of them feel justified using force, sometimes deadly on unarmed persons that were posing zero risk to them. The worst cops are the young ones that were recent military. You are not in Iraq anymore, and US citizens are not hostile enemy combatants!

Ah, I thought I sensed some sarcasm in your post, but I wasn't entirely certain it was there. Noted.
