Today is a bad day.... while closing the pressure pot, one of the locks screw thread broke and now im with no way to continue casting

Im not even half way finish casting the Baa Baa Sale caps and now this Need to find a good one to continue casting

Yeah i got mine locally, didnt know the quality sucks tho, now on a venture on getting a good one.

i dunno if they sell the screw lock separately, but im looking atm for it too and a new pot.

hm, noticing i've got some color fade on my bismuth metallikrap.  it all appears to be on the left half of the cap.

wow this is from way way back. is it really just color blue now? I think the way i did this back then was the mica is thinly cold casted in the mould then pour the base resin. I dont even have a pressure pot back then   

Is the cap in a mostly used keys?

Can't tell from that photo but did you happen to have that key near a window or some other source of UV light. UV light can fade certain types of colorant over time

it's still kinda shiny on the right side, but the left side has lost a lot of color and most of the shine.  there's less shine than there was originally all over.

it's been on an escape key when i have it on a board, and it hasn't even always been on a board.  so i don't think it's usage that caused the issue.

and yeah, it is pretty old.  as far as i know, none of my other caps have had this issue.  i guess i should see what my other metallikrap cap looks like...

Actually the bismuth is made a little differently than the regular metallikrap caps and because of that, its kinda prone to fading. I am not sure if i redo the process with a pressure pot, it would prevent it from fading but unfortunately, due to the mica powders just being brused into the mould maybe prevented it from bonding well to the resin, im not really sure about that. The others shouldnt fade though since the pigments are mixed well to the resin.

the pot is almost perfect. it has some minor leak issues but it doesnt get in the way of casting. Cheers!
