AT90USB1287 firmware ?

i was planning on using a teensy 2.0++ for my next project as i would need more than the pins AtMEGA32u4 uses(teensy 2.0).

Will the usual firmware used on teensy 2.0 work on teensy 2.0++ since they used different chips?
