Hello GeekHack
« on: Tue, 08 December 2015, 16:14:22 »
Just signed up and thought Id hop on and say hello and introduce myself. Ive been a keyboard enthusiast for about 6 months, Im kind of new but I have the basics down. I prefer 100% boards because I spend most of my day doing things where having a numpad makes life easy. I plan to build an ErgoDox this winter and see how that goes. Im also planning on getting a 60% soon to see if using layers can alleviate my need for a numpad. That or get a 60% and a sweet little stand alone numpad. Also curious to try Topre switches sometime soon.

Currently typing on a Ducky Zero MX Green with Modern Selectric. I have two other Duckys, a Shine 3 (Browns) and a One (Reds), a POS Blackwidow (Blues), and just ordered a RK off Massdrop. Ive also purchased about a dozen sets of keycaps in the past 6 months. Maybe joining this board isnt the best thing for my wallet.

Anyways, thanks for having me. Ill post some pictures of my current set ups in the next day or two.

Haha, yep, good name for it. When I get a new hobby I usually go big for awhile then stop cold turkey. It was vaping, now its keyboards. As long as its not hookers I think Im in the clear.

Advice: purchase a kustom, realize how much you spent, regret it, never do it again

The only way to unhack a wallet is to destroy it then never do it again.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

We have a pretty active vape thread if you're still into that.

What's your current vape setup?

Ive got a eSquare DNA40 with the Vicious Ant Kraken v2 tank and a Ranger OKR-10 with a Vapergate Alliance for when I drip. The two are in solid rotation. I vape Bombies Predator almost exclusivley. Its cheap and ships fast. Keep it simple, right? How about you?

Welcome to Geekhack!

An impressive collection you have started.  Just wait until you see artisan keycaps ...

Vape thread link.

Also you can get Topre numpads :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
