Duck Viper V2 built with NEW OLD STOCK Nixdorfs! ONLY NOS "Nixies" KNOWN IN COMMUNITY!!

Specs:
  • Board purchased directly from Duck (via Elton) in the last GB - has around 6 hours worth of typing on it (collector shelf piece).  It is in perfect factory condition.
  • Silver top, black bottom
  • Steel Plate
  • Soldered with Kester "44" leaded solder via a Hakko iron
  • I purchased the original NOS Nixdorf board (from which the switches were cannibalized) from via a dude in Finland.  He found it in the office of a bankrupt shoe factory - new in box.  See full details in this GH post.
  • The NOS Nixdorf switches have been professionally desoldered using a desoldering vacuum - there were no bits of solder left behind or melted plastic.  I have good equipment and take pride in my work.
  • Space bar includes the notorious Nixdorf WHITE
  • Stabs are a combo of screw in stabs: Zeal clear body and original Nixdorf (Cherry) posts, aimed at matching the Nixdorf switch style (I think it was pulled off rather well and they are smoooooooth)
  • Upgraded front LED light diffuser to allow for screw-in stabs (I ran the group buy - see Viper V2 thread)
  • Yes, it's expensive but NOS Nixies don't come around every day - or EVER?  Price is negotiable but this is a very unique piece and I'm not going to entertain lowball offers.  This is basically one of a kind based off the switches alone and a conversation piece for any collector.  Of course Duck's Viper is an iconic keyboard as well. I'm almost hesitant in selling it but my interest in keyboards has been in somewhat of a decline the past year.  I would rather someone have it that will enjoy it like I used to.
  • There has NEVER been a new old stock Nixdorf Softkeys recovered by anyone in the community (AFAIK). Rest of the keyboard for sale below...
$1400

Nixdorf "Nixies" Switches (x 60) NEW NEVER USED!!

Specs:
  • I purchased the board where these switches will be taken from via a dude in Finland.  He found it in the office of a bankrupt shoe factory - new in box.  See full details here.
  • Yeah I know it's gorgeous and it's a very special board being it's the only known Softkeys in NEW condition.  IMO the keys will serve a better purpose being put to use than on a dusty shelf... PLEASE, no whining that I'm about to cannibalize it. It was a hard decision to make, I've been teetering for months.  The only way this is staying together now that I've made up my mind is if someone offers me a huge amount of money for it complete and then they decide to keep it together. :thumb:

Details:
  • In the interest of transparency, I've spent the following: $255 to Leeku, $80 worth of caps (2 sets), $100 worth of Zealios, and of course my time building/cleaning.  As you can see I feel like this is a pretty fair price.  I want someone to enjoy this -- it's an awesome board and I'm sad to see it go.  I have a family and I've just spent WAY too much money on keyboards in a very short amount of time.

Personal Transaction History
  • I have bought and sold multiple things on GH/Reddit - most people I've traded with have agreed to act as a reference if you require. I have also been a member of eBay for at least a decade now, and my account has a CPSQ keyboard I recently sold as my profile pic (as proof it's me).  I’ve sold over 100 Apple/PC products with NEVER a single negative feedback mark.  Something I’m very proud of.  I will always work hard to achieve satisfaction with both parties.

I don't understand why that 1800 is still here. That's a good deal on a very nice keyboard. GLWS!

Me neither!  I figured it would have flown right away... I only posted it on GH, maybe that's the problem.

I would totally buy that CPSQ if I didn't have an almost identical one already and wasn't in on so many GB's right now. Maybe its an August thing.

It's gorgeous, but the split spacebar is pretty exotic. r/mm gets a lot of action and is worth a post (or did I see it there already?)

I'd be tempted, but, umm... I already have 2  :-X

Good luck...

Just purchased a GMK Dolch and seller didn't disclose he only had TKL, so now I'm out a numpad.  Soooooo.... Looking for GMK Dolch numpad!  I know someone out there has it on a TKL with the numpad just sitting in a drawer somewhere. This is for an 1800 build, so I need the small zero.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!  BUMP!

AFAIK, the none of the various Dolch replica sets on the market has proper support for 1800 layout. You will be missing the top cluster (Delete, PgDn and End in R1 profile), and you will also need a 1u Numpad Minus in R2 and a 1u Numpad Plus in R3. Unless you're willing to forgo building a true 1800 layout and do a normal numpad with 2u tall Plus key and R1 blanks for the Del/PgDn/End.

Yeah I realize this.  I should have been more clear.... The regular Dolch would go on the new Black Bird which is in essence the 1800 layout only on the bottom two R4.  So the only keys I need are the 1.75 shift and small zero, otherwise all good (I have the shift key).  It's a mini version, even lighter than Leeku's Compact SQ.  I'm not concerned with the top R1/R2 rows because the keyboard doesn't include them.  I would even just use a blank for the zero if need be...

P.S. I heard from a little bird that a Dolch set with greater support will be available soon(ish) through one of our favorite online keyboard parts/accessories retailers, just FYI.

In my opinion I don't think you're not gonna get anywhere near your asking price for that duck.

Yes I know, NOS Nixies, quality build, etc. etc., but you'd of had an easier time selling the nixies and the duck separately.

$.02

I know it seems outlandish to most, but NOS Nixies have never made an appearance before.  And FYI, I've already had two offers within $200 of asking.
