I also really like the little led bar between the 60% section and the right nav keys.  Pretty slick.  I wonder if you can program it to change color for different layers.  Looks like they have their own TMK GUI for it too.  Very cool.

Is there anyone around here with connections to these guys?  I'm pretty sure this is a 40 item presale, not a large group buy, but I bet people here would love to see R2 come through a US/European vendor

Well that particular setup does, yes.  But can you imagine it in beige with 9009 on it...  it would be georgious.  Or maybe in dark gray with Dolch.  It think the design is amazing.  Best 65% I've ever seen

I wasn't really referring to the keycaps or colour, but to the the general size and shape of the casing. It looks like a very silly waste of space, not to mention the even sillier HHKB-style left side. But to each their own, I guess.

Yes, this case seems geared to nostalgia (model F inspired case/ WKL bottom row) and certainly not saving space.  But for me, it has the perfect layout. And I'm never concerned with the larger top bezel b/c I have plenty of space in that direction on my desk.

My sentiment as well. I would really like a third key on the left hand side to use as HYPER. Caps I use as ESC/Ctrl.

Anyone have info/insight on what the LED bar does? Layer indicators? Animation?

Those RGB LEDs under the bar can be set up as indicators or animation with default light effects. I haven't tried indicator yet though.

I know it breaks symmetry, but do you know if a layout with an extra key on the left side of the bottom row has been discussed? I need my HYPER Caps doubles as ESC/CTRL and beside the space bar I have CMD and ALT. Split space with room for an extra key on the left bottom row would be awesome! Nobody else?

Yeah surely I know 😀. CA66 has two top case version, and one is with an extra key on the left which you mentioned. But there will be no brass plaque if you pick that one. PCB also supports some different layouts for everyone to choose. You guys will see the detail once it's IC is posted on GH😊.

... so it sounds like the IC will be here. I for one am happy about  the alternate case and multi-layout PCB. Would be great to use the LED bar as a layer indicator too.
