I want to add a second row of function keys above my type M keyboard, in the spirit of the X-Keys key stick, but grouped 4-4-4-3 and with my own controller. I can handle everything required to do this (circuit design, microcontroller programming, interfacing, even 3dprinting a case (I have my own Ultimaker 2+), except for the actual PCB design. I've tried my hand at Kicad and Easyeda, and found them impossible to use. Writing the raw gerber files in emacs would have been less time-consuming.

The idea is to have these extra keys send F13-F24 keycodes plus three "media" keycodes, by default, but since they'll be controlled by something like  teensy, there is practically unlimited amount of flexibility in what they can send.

Anyone want to collaborate on this project? I'm in NYC, so if you're local this will be a lot more fun.

Cheers,
