Ill do some scouting aswell

Appreciate it brother :)

This pretty cheap for having silent sliders: The one I bought was still cheaper but this isn't bad. Can easily harvest it and sell for $150 if you wanted to.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%9D%B1%E3%83%97%E3%83%AC-REALFORCE108US-%E9%9D%99%E9%9B%BB%E5%AE%B9%E9%87%8F%E7%84%A1%E6%8E%A5%E7%82%B9%E6%96%B9%E5%BC%8F-ALL30g-SJ38D0/dp/B003Y2ZBUU/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1448205002&sr=8-24&keywords=topre
What are silent sliders?

Are they the same as what's in the Type-s?

AFAIK they're longer sliders that compensate for the travel distance lost after putting on silencing rings.

On a separate note, can someone confirm that Type-S sliders are actually not longer than regular ones?

The base is thinner on the purple sliders, as opposed to the normal black sliders. Type S uses regular black sliders.

awesome, guess i need to pick up a board with some purple slider's to salvage

I.e. an HHKB Type S.  Heck of a board to sacrifice just for the sliders

well an hhkb type s just has regular slider's no? i would have to get a silenced realforce proxied over for some purple sliders.

man, if JT Keycaps can make mx sliders, I wonder if they can make longer topre sliders too. perhaps with correctly sized rubber silencers too.

they would make a buttload of money, considering some people are prepared to buy entire RF boards just for the sliders.

I will be waiting for this day to happen. Proxying a board just for sliders is so damn tiring.

Buy one already lubed  :)) Sorry I can't be of more help, but I traded my non-lubed one for a lubed one.

Simple and beautiful! Gotta love a good ol' Storm Trooper theme.

I recently went back to Storm Trooper myself!

awwwwww yeeeee, do you have a guide for lubing?

Short version:

Unscrew the bottom case from the top.
Open slowly and detach the controller from the bottom case.
Unscrew the PCB from the top case, and lift slowly.
Gather your domes and springs in a bowl.
Once you have just the top case with the plungers, flip it upside down so the plungers are fully extended out.
Lube the 2 contact rail corners of each plunger with a brush or whatever you have on hand.
Once all of them are lubed, just kind of flip your top case upside down a few time to evenly distribute the lube.
Screw everything back together.
Enjoy the true oneness with cup rubber!!!

Let me know if you need more specifics :3

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. I have the grey Leopold 660c and I just got a RF 55g. Honestly I don't feel that much of a difference between the 2. I do feel one and the 55g are heavier but it's not that much of a gap. I prefer the feel of the switch of the RF but i like the layout of the Leopold more, it's so elegant and simple, so effective.

How much of a difference do you feel between the Leo and the RF, both 45g?

I have the newer fc660c and the rf 55g.

There was discussion about this before in other threads about the newer fc660c feeling heavier than most other 45g topre boards. Many people have said the newer 45g fc660c feels almost as heavy as a 55g rf.

I believe this is true. When I used both boards side by side the difference was minimal. Granted the 55g rf was still heavier but by a smaller margin. Maybe a 4g to 5g of difference.

When I swaped the 55g domes into the fc660c the switches got even heavier. Possibly feeling like a 58g board.

I believe the plate design changed in newer fc660c boards.

Newer fc660c is the one with grey or white caps.

Older fc660c has a black case with black caps.

Maybe someone else on this thread will chime in on this.

My fingers started feeling like they were getting a bit of a work out after I put the 55g domes inside the newer fc660c.

I never tried the older fc660c so I don't know how it compares with the newer one.

I'm just going but what other forum members have said.

It might be a trick of the light, or my bad eyes, but that FC660C looks huge compared to the RF.  If you move the FC660C 1x to the left, the backspace would still extend about 2x to the right of the RF keys.

In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
