Hey all! I've recently been bitten by the keyboard collecting and building bug, and I have a lot to learn. I'd love to set up a meetup and meet other enthusiasts in the Bay Area. Now that many of us are vaccinated, it seems like we could get at least a small handful of people together in the same physical location.
I'd aim for the end of August or early September. Can you all give me a sense of how interested you'd be in this? I can find a location and arrange the details.

small meetups are really what we need more of. the scene has gotten so big here that the meetups have been reduced to large events that are far and few. i might just try to throw something together in the next month or two and just limit it to like 15-20 peeps max. i'd also be in favor of meeting later in aug/sept too.

There's an old meetup discord channel but it's a little dead now.
Not to highjack the thread but it's really been a minute since I've been to a meet so I'd love to put an small impromptu one together. I'm making a new thread in this forum section and arranging a small meet for next week. Hope you don't mind OP and hope to see some of yall there.

There's an old meetup discord channel but it's a little dead now.
If you're talking about the "CA Meetup Discord" it's not dead. It's only super active when there's a meetup soon. If you want to generate interest, that's a great place to post.

How many people can attend this meetup? I would like to attend, as an enthusiast, I want to know and feel what is considered good in this hobby. Wonder how your boards stack up to mine.

Given that Ossa registered their account in May, was last online in July, and has only 2 posts, I'm getting the sense that we'll have to make this happen ourselves.
I personally don't have much experience with organizing meetups, but happy to work with someone who has to get this over the line.

DotMatrix from Charue Design recently hosted a small meetup (https://charue-design.com/products/south-bay-meet-up-entry-january-8th-2022) at their new office in San Jose. It sounds like he's planning on hosting similar events in the near future. Given the progress (or lack thereof) in this thread for setting up a dedicated meetup, a Charue Design organized meetup is likely the best chance for all of us to get together.
