We have already decided on the colours and unfortunately, there will be no pink. There will be E white, black, gray silver, and a dark purple

The case and PCB had finished being made few days ago, and now we are waiting for Wei (KBDfans) to receive it so we can get some photos.

I'm genuinely sorry about the wait, I've also been eagerly waiting for the sample too. But I'm afraid the delay is out of mine and KBDfans' hands, due to the current situation with the coronavirus.

Unfortunately hotswap ISO will not be happening, as we would have to make a new PCB and the MOQ will definitely not be met.
Sorry

Looking good, how much is the weight of the board? I am assuming the brass bottom adds a considerable amount of heft.

About the brass bottom, its going to be in very limited quantities (only a few of them). And it adds about 4kg to the case

Brass bottom case is going to be around $100 USD extra. I am not 100% sure as it is going to be very very limited, so it might cost more than that.

Something i forgot to add was that hot-swap with underglow is not possible for us. But ISO and underglow is possible (non-hotswap PCB), but there will be no per-key RGB SMD's however, you would have the ability to add your own 2 pin LED's

Hi !

I'm considering my first DIY keyboard and and i'm very interested in the melody65 but I'm a fully noob. I would like an iso french layout, is it possible with this kit ? I saw in this thread that the hotswappable option is not possible for an iso layout, does it means i have to solder the switches on it ? Also about the led's mounting (on switches and underglow) if someone could explain me how to it or indicate a thread that explain it for a very similar product it could be great.

With experience of the first melody productions, how much time between order and delivery should I expect ?

Thanks :)

Does this apply to ANSI as well? Or only ISO?

Wei said is around 5kg the FE (brass bottom, alu top). As far as i remember i quoted 4-4.5kg months ago so the 5kg of wei might be actually true
The bottom is thicc af and the angle of 7 helps to make it heavy

1. Yes, hotswap will not have underglow, but will have per key RGB
2. Non hotswap has underglow, but no per key RGB. You cant add RGB yourself but you can add static LED's, such as white, green, blue etc.

Hope that helps.

1. Yes you will have to solder the switches in if you want to have an ISO layout.
2. If your talking about the 2 pin LED's i was talking about earlier, You can find them here (https://kono.store/products/1-8mm-keyboard-leds-100-pack), and if you want to know how to do it, i'd recommend you watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQj9y16OmlE) by TaeKeyboards.

I will get back to you soon with answers about your layout and expected delivery.

No, not a dumb question at all. There are no renders including each colour available for the case, because the colours are going to be the same ones as KBDfans uses and we do not have the exact colour codes. So if your interested, you could go onto the KBDfans website and look at some of their cases and you will see the colours (Black, e-white, gray, silver and purple).

I hope that helps

This is the last "noobish" question I have i promise.

Most of China is on holiday until the 5th of May. But they have told me that the brass sample's will be ready some time in may. So once they are ready we will be very close to starting a group buy page on their site.

Loving this! Definitely jumping on board after enjoying my 96 so much.

Just a quick question, the brass housing for the case isn't the same shape as the acrylic bottom?
I really did enjoy the multiple layers from the 96, and i'm glad to see it in the acrylic version of the 65! Sadly i'd definitely prefer a full aluminum housing with the same characteristics.
