Ok so maybe I understood it wrong, but the kit includes two plates, a brass and an alu one?
A pessimist will tell you the cup is half empty. An optimist will tell you the cup is half full. An engineer will tell you it's exactly twice the size it needs to be.

You have my attention.

Looking for a layout similar to Massdrop ALT.

Will the board feature a weight? You mention "paired with the brass plate, and weight it would be an absolute stunning case", but it is not obvious if you refer to overall weight, or an internal weight. :)

I've felt a melody keyboard before, hefty for a good price! Looking forward to more details for this one as well!

Voted 60% HHKB layout.

Yes by brass weight, i meant a polished brass weight screwed into the bottom

For this GB we have stuck with acrylic for all boards.
Sorry about that.

Melody96's GB was very smooth.+1 for this!

Would it be possible to receive a raw aluminum case?

We are have had some issues with the software when making the design, but jkaos has estimated that in about 2 weeks the design will be done.
I will make an update when it is done, and hopefully, get samples made asap.
Thanks

Speaking for OP since i'm doing the design and i'm the reason of it being late.
Design is kinda done, i'm waiting for pcb sample with daughterboard  (which was shipped) to test it with the 3d sample (which will be printed soon).
If everything it's ok at that point, renders will be posted and a real sample in alu/acr/brass will be requested.

Great to hear that you guys pour so much time into this. I am really curious about the first pics.
How is the prototyping coming along? Also, mind me asking what about the design proved to be a challenge?

1. making the typing angle 7 degrees while having the acrylic diffuse evenly
2. power outage, causing jkaos to loose quite a bit of work
3. Wei taking a while to respond as jkaos needed the pcb file to even get the design started
4. Work and family being our first priorities

Hope that answers your question

Wow, that really sucks with losing the progress. Great to hear you are paying so much attention to these details and looking forward to first pics.

Take all your time you need. Keebs truly are not the priority in life. ;-)

At this point, with the design finished, we are waiting for Wei replies about colors (for eventual rendering) and for other info about options that we can do with him.

Again, we are very close, just need to (1) make a 3d printed prototype. (2) sort out the exact color codes. (3) design the packaging. (4) order a sample. (5) make renders.
This may seem like a long list, but most of it can be done at the same time.

Hope that helps

Sample is finally done.

This is by no means the final product, but its close. We will be needing to make the aluminium top again, do to some sizing changes.

I have made another google form for you to be able to tell me if there is anything you would like to see changed/improved ---> google form
No response, means no improvements needed.

Thanks, Dion

FUARK those bezels are beautiful. Pretty much perfect except for the spacer for the arrow keys, feels like I'm in the minority in the community that dislikes it though. How much space is there between the pcb and the acrylic bottom? The r1 Chiwi boards had a lot of space between them and because of that the sound was kinda bad.

Damn, the design looks really nice, especially from the side. Can we get a fully built one where the underglow is visible?

Also what was the design decision regarding the usbc port? Normally this one is a little "sunk in" if you know what I mean.
Sadly I am not a fan of the brass plate design. I know this might be controversial but the font would be better in a more simplistic design like the keyboard imo.

Looking forward to the gb.
P.s.: can we get a typing test too to hear what my predecessor has asked about? Reallt curious about that sound :)
