[IC]SR2 - Alu housing for Realfoce R2

Hello everyone, I am Sho, an enthusiast of Topre keyboard. Today I bring my first project, the Realforce case and mod kit SR2.


This is my first step of customized Topre keyboard housing. I'd like to hear from the community. Please leave comments. Thank you for you interest!

This case is compatible with Realforce R2 87 keys models. It comes with a customized plate, and daughterboard with USB type-c connection, to support removable cable.

Contents:
Top & bottom  case *1
Plate *1 (By default comes with aluminum plate. Could add stainless steel and brass plate as extra)
USB-C daughterboard and PCB cable *1
Screws (for PCB, plate, daughterboard and case)
Rubber feet

Color:
Anodized: Silver, Gray
Coated: White, Haze Blue, Pink, Tiffany Blue
(Other colors are customizable, Please leave comments about the color you desire)

Be a bit careful with the delivery promise as today we know everything is affected by some sort of delays and people cling to those promises.

Yes, I am working on HHKB housings. This one is in prototype of pro2 housing, and will start selling in near future.

still waiting for the day that someone designs a tsangan/wkl realforce pcb. actual comment though, how does the alu case affect sound? is it louder or increase in pitch? haven't seen much of this yet

Really interesting project

Price wise it’s not unreasonable and the addition of a USB-C DB with the correct cable is nice to see.
Color options are limited but valid, I’d have liked to see something like a dark green / purple in the anodized option.

Timeline for delivery if followed is fantastic, maybe part of that is the relatively simple paths of the tooling but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Better a simple and functional stuff than a weird and overhyped design that require a bazillion axis cnc process.

Regarding this:

Layout option is dictated by the fixed layout of the RF R2, so 1.25u for mods and 6.25u space bar. Tsangan could be attempted by simply using a different plate with shifted keys but the functionality then can’t be guaranteed, especially with misaligned springs and EC pad.

Great to see housings being made for the R2 and at a reasonable price. This will allow more ppl to step in the custom topre scene without loosing a liver between old boards to harvest parts and near 1k priced housing.
