I got some updates from Bob at Signature Plastics. He said there were "dozens" of emails about the site not loading and people missing out and here is the conclusion -
"Thank you all for participating in Booper's Deep Space group buy. It really is a great looking keyset and I'm sure everyone will be pleased with it.
Here's a quick update on where we are with this group buy.
As many of you experienced, our site was overloaded at the 11th hour with people trying to make last minute purchases. As a result, many customers were not able to complete their transactions. I sincerely apologize for this. Our marketing firm is working on moving the PMK site to a more robust platform which, hopefully, will eliminate the many issues people have had to deal with on the current platform.
There were also a number of customers that cancelled their order, or tried to cancel their order, because it didn't look like one or more of the child deals were going to tip. What we have decided to do, with Booper's permission, is to produce extra quantities of the keysets and put them up for sale on our Key Shop. We are also going to produce some quantity of all the child deals, (except for the Polaris Num Pad Adders and the 7u and 6.5u space bars) and have these available on our Key Shop as well.
We tried to force tip the child deals after the group buy had closed but were unsuccessful. So if you wanted to purchase a child deal that didn't tip, you will need to purchase it through our Key Shop at the end of the production run. We won't be processing pre-orders for these either. You will need to wait until they are available. Also, we will not be charging shipping for the Key Shop child deals as long as you participated in the original group buy.
Our lead time is currently running about 8 weeks so we hope to be producing late January and shipping early February.

Now for some sentimentals:
It's been quite surreal seeing this thing evolve and I can hardly believe it's all come together. I'm so glad I found this forum! GH has encouraged me to get back into having creative hobbies and has provided me with some much needed community involvement.
On that note, I'd like to also announce a small give-away for some novelty caps I've made! I've been experimenting with sculpting and casting keycaps recently and one of my designs was inspired by the Deep Space keyset! I have quite a collection of little cosmonauts starting to form so I figured why not give some away!?

It's not really something I'm planning on. I may do little sales and giveaways if keys start to pile up, but this just seemed like a fun and relevant thing to do! For now, it's just an expensive and time consuming (yet oddly satisfying) hobby. I need to get the process down and figure out how to get better/consistent results!

Those astronauts are just cute. I'm going to have to see if I have the funds or the setup for one of the galaxy sets. I wonder how many people will be buying the mods to go with Hyperfuse. They're close enough that it could cause some issues with the Alpha. At the same time, it does make for a cool "modular alpha" setup where you plan multiple sets around the same Alphas to reduce the cost of unique looking sets.Thanks XD

Yea, I'm not sure what Hyperfuse used for grey, but I think theirs is lighter and the purple is RDA instead of RDE (i think?). I really like that set! The difference would probably be slight enough to not be noticeable as fair as pairing it with my mods or the planetary pack goes! I created the purple Modifiers first after falling for the RDE color here (http://deskthority.net/w/images/5/53/HONEYB_CREAM_001.jpg) and the alphas just kinda made sense having a muted base color with the purple in the legends.
I don't have a picture of the swatches on hand at the moment, but here (http://i.imgur.com/2Sujbrk.jpg) is an image I posted before when I originally started that shows BO and the RDE color I referenced from. (I wanted to have the colors all be keyed, so that's why this image shows a desaturated comparison.)
Even with the swatches, I wont be able to color match my novelty keys until I get a printed set as supposedly each batch varies a bit in color.

I am really glad to see this GB kick off. Booper has worked really hard to make all this happen, and I think we will be enjoying those efforts in the near future. As far as the these new novelties and the upcoming raffle I think its safe to say you have outdone yourself. I'll be placing my order as soon as finances permit. I hope that living with you doesn't disqualify me from the raffle because I've become really attached to seeing these 'cosmonauts' around(or whatever they end up being named). I think this covers it! Some of the kits have low MOQ and seem expensive, but hopefully they will come down as people purchase. I figured some people may rather pay more and get their pieces with a low tip point than not get their pieces at all if I set MOQs too high? I wish PMK had a feature to commit at a certain price point!

Yea, that has been an issue. It seems that the spacebar options are not showing either. It probably has something to do with a limit for how many items appear on the webpage.

I'd encourage anyone who is thinking about buying the ergodox set to buy it now so people can be less worried it won't tip. With kits like this there are sometimes a bunch of people who won't buy it because it looks like it isn't close to tipping, but with their contribution the set can make it. Worst case scenario, you have to contact SP and change your order if we somehow don't get 25 people.
A nice set with PRINTED/SHOOT ergodox modifiers.....I couldn't be happier. :thumb:

The problem with lowering the MOQ is that the price would go up! It would probably by in the $50 range if I did that. :(

That's a nice set up for the Dox. :) We're getting very close to tipping as far as the ANSI 60% layout is concerned and even Planck is looking really good!

In the quote I posted originally, the tipping point was at 25 so that brings the price down. MOQ is so difficult to determine because low tipping point = high price. But a high tipping point means the set may not make it! I didn't know what the prices would be for the lower tipping points until the kits were created and published since my quotes all started at MOQ of 25.
I've sent an email with some questions and requests, including changing the ISO to SHIFT instead of TAB. I've also inquired about why it seems so expensive. I will update when I figure it out! I'm hoping/thinking it looks like the Planck and JD40 will make it. Fingers crossed!
@ blooper, those spacebars need to get added to the list. no one can see them.
Yea, I've been trying to link them everywhere I can for exposure. I've sent an email about it as well to request that somehow all the sets be made visible/accessible.

Updates - I added Purple and Blue space bars, fixed the error on the ISO set, and added a blue "?/" ergodox key per the request of a couple people.

Ah, I've asked about the price on the ISO set to try and see why it's so expensive. I've been assured the price is correct and that's just the nature of the beast.
I'm considering only offering the one key instead of both to reduce cost.. but I' not sure which color I should offer or how much it would reduce the cost. As far as I know, no other RDE iso keys are around. the bro set is RDA i believe.
I was pretty shocked to see how expensive that set was for only a few keys.. but maybe ISO is just difficult to produce/requires more plastic than most keys. :(
I'm hoping JD40 makes it.. there's still time for some hope!

If it lowered the price enough it would certainly make it more realistic. I'm feeling having the purple one would work better, at least in my case where the already tipped blue planetary kit and some bottom row mods looks like enough blue for me.

I've asked for a quote on changing the ISO deal to THIS (http://i.imgur.com/mgmcTzi.png) and setting the moq at 5. If it's reasonable I'll change it. I think the BO color will be easier to get in the future as an ISO key if anyone has to have it, but the RDE hasn't been done before as far as I know. I found out that I can't really change the current ISO kit as it's 'too late in the game' but I'm afraid it won't tip so I did manage to add a blank ISO ENTER in RDE. MOQ is set at 5 and the price is only $1.78. I thought it would be a lot more expensive based on the price of the full ISO kit or I would have made it contain the BO enter as well. Sorry, there is no shift included in the new deal, but you can pick up a blank!
There are a few RDE space bars published, and I am waiting still to get the blue ones published as well.

Normal keycaps on a Poker II or a QFR tend to be what are called 'OEM' profile, which is taller than DCS. Most people dislike mixing and matching keycap profiles on the same board because it increases the potential for mistypes, can mess with a normal typing style, and often doesn't look very nice. Particularly with tall OEM caps and short DSA caps, I can see problems occurring.

You can find them with letters, it just might be difficult to find some that match these mods. And the blanks will probably be cheaper for you

Massdrop had an ergo kit drop a week or so ago, I posted the link over there so we can maybe get some of those guys to tip the Ergo set! Their kit only comes with blank keycaps, so a labelled set should be pretty attractive to them too.

I'm very scared for the orion colored win addon kit.Ha, I can't believe at least 1 or 2 more hasn't sold! I'm budgeting to try and tip some of the stragglers myself tomorrow but I dunno how much I'll be able to help. I've also contacted Mellissa to see what I can do about the core number kit if it doesn't make it to tip point. If I can lower the moq and pay the price difference for the lower MOQ to get it made, I'll do that but I'm still hoping more sales happen.

And if I had to guess, I would say that the purple mods are selling better than the blues because they match the core set better since the lettering on the core set is purple, so it offers a nice contrast. And then the blue planets offer another contrast to that... at least that's why I went with those sets ;D Also purple is a pretty cool color you don't see too often! Overall, I'm really excited about how this set will turn out! Can't wait to receive it! :)

You should be able to use most of these keys! I've read that the spacebars are not normal on the FC660M though. I don't know if this is still an issue or not! But I think most of the keys are all standard cherry mount? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm also in on the core numpad set. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more to be sure I get that set, I need it... for things...
Unfortunately, this set might not make it :( I asked Melissa if I could lower the MOQ and make up the difference out of pocket to keep the price the same.. or if there is anything I can do at all. She said "We would need to have you purchase the remaining sets on the child deal in order to get it to tip - Sorry!"... which I can't afford. In hindsight, I should have set the MOQ lower and just had it cost a few $$ more.
But, as it stands, I'm willing to buy 4-5 of these to get it to tip if anyone else is interested in helping it out. A few people over on r/mk (https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/2phkln/we_need_8_more_ergodoxers_in_the_next_24_hours_to/) have said they'd be willing to buy extras to get it to tip also

I'm not sure if they will tip it at 5 or not. Some of the kits seem to default to 25 MOQ and I've had a hard time getting that changed. I also asked about the spacebars as the BO dropped in price but the RDE did not.

Yeah, I noticed I had to put in the state manually when I first tried it. I do not believe that was the issue. I'm worried it might be an issue related to very similar but slightly different mailing and billing addresses.

Yep, I did a last minute 180 on wanting this mainly due to the planetary keys. I got to the 'confirm payment' button but the servers froze up it seems. Nevermind!

He also said that child deals are automatically configured with paypal so if it doesn't tip, there is nothing they can really do BUT he would like to make 25-50 extra sets and offer them on the keyshop for those who missed out. Ergodox included! So, those who purchased the Ergodox kit will still get/be charged for the other items they got just not the ergodox kit but you will be able to pick one up as they will be available on the keyshop.

This seems like awesome news. It obviously doesn't make sense for them to foot the bill for the kits that basically no one was interested in, but it looks like everything that had at least a decent amount of interest will get produced.

I sincerely apologize for this. Our marketing firm is working on moving the PMK site to a more robust platform which, hopefully, will eliminate the many issues people have had to deal with on the current platform.
There were also a number of customers that cancelled their order, or tried to cancel their order, because it didn't look like one or more of the child deals were going to tip. What we have decided to do, with Booper's permission, is to produce extra quantities of the keysets and put them up for sale on our Key Shop. We are also going to produce some quantity of all the child deals, (except for the Polaris Num Pad Adders and the 7u and 6.5u space bars) and have these available on our Key Shop as well.
We tried to force tip the child deals after the group buy had closed but were unsuccessful. So if you wanted to purchase a child deal that didn't tip, you will need to purchase it through our Key Shop at the end of the production run. We won't be processing pre-orders for these either. You will need to wait until they are available. Also, we will not be charging shipping for the Key Shop child deals as long as you participated in the original group buy.
Our lead time is currently running about 8 weeks so we hope to be producing late January and shipping early February.

No, they were going to try and do it that way, but weren't able to push through the sets that didn't tip because of a lot of chaos with cancelations and such. My understanding is that they will produce enough of each child pack to meet the demand from the group buy, and then a few extras on top of that. The sets will be available on the keyshop later and you will not be charged for them yet. You will have to buy them when they come out there... This isn't a perfect solution, but if they couldn't push the untipped sets through automatically then this seems like the next best plan as I think it would be even more chaotic to re-open the buy.
So - For those of you who ordered sets like ergodox that did not tip, you will not be charged for that deal but you will be able to get it as soon as the set is manufactured. People who participated in the group buy will not have to pay shipping at the keyshop for those sets. I will do my best to keep people updated about when the kits will be available, and hopefully enough will be manufactured so that everyone can get what they need! I'm sorry for the trouble :/ Hopefully this will all result in smoother sailing for future group buys!

But then I took forever to send him a cap and told him I'd send a v2 from the pressure pot! Well, I took forever & ever and the pressure pot version ended up flawed so I was like "eff it :( " and went for quantity over quality in an attempt to make up for my downfalls of taking forever and sending imperfect caps :thumb:

I think its their own style of highlighting the F and J keys like other keysets do, for ex: the GMK Dolch set add-on pack.
Good thing they gave us two 'F' and 'J' keys because I wasn't feeling the large ones

Yeaaa... I'm not sure what's up with that. All my renderings show the keys being consistent sizes and I never indicated to SP I wanted home keys larger. It doesn't really bother me though and I've gotten no complaints yet so I don't know if it's worth bringing up to SP?

So... I got mine today but the core kit is missing, Is anyone else missing anything from their order? did I make a huge mistake and not buy a core kit?

The rest of the sets aren't up yet as SP wants to wait a week or two for people to receive their stuff from the original buy so they can be sure everyone got what they ordered.

Thanks~~ and yeah it is! ^~^ It's a really interesting experience to use as well... I had mostly wanted it for the unigueness factor but also for gaming purposes as a fully programmable board.

Contrast, that what I thought too looking at shipped kits pictures (thanks guys for these) but your second picture looks more like I imagined it at first. I found SP DSA grey are somehow difficult to shot because of both the texture and material that looks like it has tiny flakes in it, usually this doesn't do justice to what the cap is IRL.
What do you think closer to first picture or second one for real?

Mine also came in today. I need to see about finding a 2.75u RDE blank and a 2.75u GTA blank. I notice that the blue is a lot darker in person, but that's not bad by any means.
Alright, got some updates from Bob at Signature Plastics. He said there were "dozens" of emails about the site not loading and people missing out. He also said that child deals are automatically configured with paypal so if it doesn't tip, there is nothing they can really do BUT he would like to make 25-50 extra sets and offer them on the keyshop for those who missed out. Ergodox included! So, those who purchased the Ergodox kit will still get/be charged for the other items they got just not the ergodox kit but you will be able to pick one up as they will be available on the keyshop.
"Everything that tipped will go through automatically. Only the item(s) that didn't tip won't go through.
In looking at the list, I would say we would produce everything that didn't tip except for the Numpad Adders-Polaris (only 1 was purchased) and the 6, 6.5 and 7x space bars that had 0 or 1 purchased." -Bob

I got almost everything I needed from the two numberpad sets and the wasd set. Anyone have any spares they're not using? I need two 1u keys, blue or grey. Don't really care what is printed on them but these are going to be function keys on a numpad I'm building, so blank or F1-12 keys or something fitting are preferred. Couldn't justify getting another set of something that I'll only use part of. The keys outlined in green are what I'd have available to trade if someone would prefer that over just selling me some. Also would be willing to trade the blue WASD keys for a set of blue arrows.

Finally got my sets and I'm loving Deep Space. Just need a case and my new Poker II with MX Clears is complete. Anyone put this on a Ducky Mini and have pictures to share? I feel like the case for that would go really well with it.

Glad you like the set!!! I don't know if there will be more on the keyshop or not, but my guess is that there won't be. I'm sure they will show up on classifieds or mechmarket at some point though.

I just got my Vamilo VA87M today and put some Deep Space keycaps on it! I actually have one more set of Deep Space waiting for my JD40 (which will hopefully come soon ;D)

Yea, he's a bit pale, but I love him just the way he is :) I'm really glad I had the opportunity to participate in this group buy, it's been an amazing experience. I've been busy with school work these past few weeks, but after my JD40 comes in, I still really want to try the sparkle idea on some blank keys I ordered and see how it turns out ;D I'll be sure to update with the results :thumb:
