I assume this is a hot-swap PCB?

A bid sad that there is no Gold/Brass option for the badge.
I like the look of it with the black like on this render quite alot.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/fXQshht.jpg)
Probably in for dark blue with brass nameplate.
Can we get clarification on what all is included with the base kit?
Does the base kit include pcb and plate?
Does the base kit include pcb and plate?Aye,right.
If we opt not to have the RGB strip on the side, is the bottom that we get solid, or is the hole just covered with an insert or something? In that case, it's just a simple upper and lower cover structure. There will be no holes in the side.
Submitted - look forward to seeing progress on this. Will PCB be able to take Holtite sockets? The case was originally not designed to work with holtites, the lowest end of the pin to the case is 0.8mm. I have not tested
Hand polished available? If we want two kits, fill out the form twice?
Edit: answered on Reddit. Fill two forms out

Hand polishing is really too tired. And the scrap rate is so high that it's impossible to mass produce.Sorry for that...

Does the default pkate support all the mentioned layouts? From the pictures it looks like split space is not supported. How to specify the layout in the form?Well, they support splitting space. 2.25-1.25-2.75. Absolutely no problem! :p
in the first prototype all the logos and badges/ nameplates are white in the second prototype they are barely visible and not white. Which will be the final product? in one of the pictures theres a green badge with the toxic keycaps, whats up with that ?
No split left shift?
No split left shift?
Wondering the same thing. It's the only thing missing for full ISO support, since it already supports ISO enter. Would be an insta-buy if split left shift was supported.
Is there a sound test possibly since we have several protos?

Same here, going by the plate design, the keyboard doesn't look like it supports split left shift from the prototype pictures.
They would have to modify the plate and the PCB designs to accommodate this if they were to fit it in, maybe that's all been finalised.

Just wanted to highlight the spelling error on the aluminium badge. It shows "SPACC" instead of "SPACE"

Asking to keep price down since I wouldn't want carbon fiber or aluminum badge.

Well, there is no support for split left shift. Sorry for that.. :(
Would like to note that I just checked Potter’s China private GB in his qq group. And this GH GB is priced the same as the China GB in his qq group. Kudos to Potter for not increasing the price for GH buyers, something rarely (if ever) happens here :)
Without the split left shift you might as-well only do a ANSI layout as the majority of ISO users would need a split left shift.
So most likely no one from the EU etc would not be able to join :(

Yeah, I thought the same as well. It was so close to getting a full proper ANSI plate for once :(

PCB supports split left shift.
At that time, I wanted to make a split left shift. But my partners don't think it's necessary. So I thought he didn't do it. As a result, I just opened the picture to see that it supports split left shift. But he's done it.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/KALGBRn.jpg)

Ok great, the pcb supports it. I guess it will but can you confirm that the plate will also support it?

If this image shows the final plate, I don't think the plate supports it: https://i.imgur.com/iH2L6IA.jpg
The hole needs to be a bit bigger on the right hand side, like this plate: https://imgur.com/a/6UVqnw2 (image borrowed from here (https://sentraq.com/products/60-aluminum-plate?variant=10596342599))
But this is just a minor edit of the plate, so I hope it might be possible to add this change.

Joined yesterday but I haven't received an invoice yet either. I assume there are loads of them, so I'll wait patiently. Thanks again for this GB. It looks amazing.
Just joined too!
First kit ever, for my first build ever.
Going to need some tools!
Can't wait!
Edit : What is the purpose of the top led strip?
Are there any extra rounds planned in future?
I'm going to get this for my SA symbiosis build. Do ya'll think grey or black would look better? I'm kind of leaning towards grey right now.
Edit: Just realized I can do 2 tone. Grey top and black bottom it is then ;D
Just put in my order for a grey set. Hoping it pairs well with the incoming JTK Hyperfuse. Fingers crossed? Haha
Afaik JTK HF is like the original HF right, not Origins? I have Origins on a grey keyboard and that looks very good, so I'm sure you'll be fine :)
When in doubt; go silver.
So I think I screwed up my order form and added a second CF plate... I thought the question was asking if we want alu vs brass vs cf. Can I change that somehow?

Hi potter. I think this is true from the picture but does it only support 2.25/1.25/2.75 split space? And not support 2.75/1.25/2.25 space. I thought from IC you said it will support both, but from picture it only looks like one style. I am hoping for 2.75/1.25 style. Can you confirm - thank you.
I agree Symbiosis will work very well with Gray top. An amazing SA set!
Hello. Is there any chance we can buy extra top plates? Particularly because all the colors are great. My ideal would probably be a base kit in silver, with extra top plates in blue & black

You can in the order form.
For those interested in possible mil max sockets, it’s not guaranteed it will work but here is some info:
Clearance between switch pin and bottom case: 0.8mm
Switch pin through hole diameter: 1.5mm
Hi,
Is this a Top Cover mount PCB Plate? Is it enough screw holes on the Plate?
Cause from what i see, the screw holes are only located on the left, right and bottom of the Plate.
Will the number row have enough support, since there is no screws to hold on to.
I love to join, but need to know if the keyboard will hold strong, without flimsy feel when bottom out.
Thanks.
My first group buy using geekhack. Do people recommend buying a second PCB?I would always do it for custom PCBs. Otherwise you might and with just a case. Accidents happen. Also resale is easier as people might want a untouched PCB.

Will the badges say "Voyager 1" or "SPACE65"? Seems that the newest prototypes all say "Voyager 1", but if you could confirm, I'd appreciate it!
So, this is the latest render for the plate, meaning the bottom part, not only supported by 3 screws, but also the plate get sandwich between the aluminum top & Bottom cover.
This looks better than previous render as attached.
One more question, how big is the gap between the lowest part of PCB bottom with the highest part of Bottom Alum cover.
Thanks.

Great, it is a tight gap, so in case the plate got Flimsy. Can just add something underneath to fill the gap. Thanks @oldcat.

Asking to keep price down since I wouldn't want carbon fiber or aluminum badge.

Are invoices rolling out over time? I still haven't gotten one.
I REALLY don't want to miss out on this! So I just want to make doubly sure I get my invoice ;)
PLEASE take my money!

Brass parts can only be purchased extra. Doesn't appear as an upgrade.
Sorry again.
@airpotter can i suggest one more design alteration. The bottom rubber feet. Since this is custom, and we're gonna open and close this baby a lot. Is it possible that the rubber feet has it's own seat, rather than covering the screw holes. Believe the rubber feet will loose it's sticky/ glue if we open it alot.This. Yes. The rubber feet should not cover the screw holes, please.
Thank you.
I've joined! So excited! I went grey and planning on DSA Milkshakes!
Now to decide switches 🤔🤔

Instead of what we have here:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/8XDo0cv.jpg)
Hopefully the engraving can still be rectified.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think I spotted an error in the hydrogen atom icon. Isn't the right side of the icon supposed to show the electron spinning in the opposition direction? As it is currently, the icon shows only one state instead of two states like the Voyager record cover.God, I made a mistake here. Thank you very much for your carefulness. I will correct this point in the final mass production version. Again, I apologize for my carelessness. Thank you for your kind correction.

Can't believe this got overlooked during IC, I know its less pretty to show the screws, but for our tinkering sake, please move the rubber feet locations.

Finally, decided to join with Red/Red/Black. Just need to wait for my Invoice.I'm sorry that the invoices I can issue every day are very limited. But I will deal with these things as soon as possible.
Sorry, sir.I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean there is no logo nameplate? All nameplates will be engraved? Any chance to get them without it? I like the clean look from the prototypes. Will the badges say "Voyager 1" or "SPACE65"? Seems that the newest prototypes all say "Voyager 1", but if you could confirm, I'd appreciate it!Yes... indeed, now it's Voyager 1.
I cancelled the sign next to the side LED,and moved it to the nameplate. :)

Hi,
Is this a Top Cover mount PCB Plate? Is it enough screw holes on the Plate?
Cause from what i see, the screw holes are only located on the left, right and bottom of the Plate.
Will the number row have enough support, since there is no screws to hold on to.
I love to join, but need to know if the keyboard will hold strong, without flimsy feel when bottom out.
Thanks.

It is top mount yes, And the revised plate has holes in the middle as well. Actually even with the middle screws it is very firm, not flimsy at all. But I will take a picture of the new plate soon (or Potter may be able to share soon).

That's actually quite light. (I take it thats with the carbon fiber plate tho?) I imagine a brass plate/badge will increase it a smidge. :)
Just got my invoice, awesome! The only thing is I requested an extra PCB and not the brass badge. Can you fix invoice 0126? Thanks!

Looks very good on the bottom plate design, there is more area to support and contact with top cover.
However, for the left and right sides, can the design be alter to be similar to the bottom, or at least having wider area surrounding the screw hole, to assure more support and contact area with the top cover.
Thank you

Should be pretty easy to implement I think? Let’s talk to Potter in discord about this potential improvement
Is there a specific time (and time zone) that the GB ends?
By the way, can Zeal PCB screw-in stabs be used here?

Out of curiosity, anybody has an idea who handles this SF Express shipping in Europe? Is it regular post, EMS post or some other courier?I have only one experience with SF Express, but my packet went to Netherlands first using PostNL when it entered Europe (I am in France) and then it was my local regular postal service.
Thanks, if it's the regular post then it depends on the value that was declared and on luck. Worst case is 19% VAT on the full value. Anyway, if this KB turns out as awesome as the pictures suggest it will be worth it.Out of curiosity, anybody has an idea who handles this SF Express shipping in Europe? But for me it is taxed for sure anyway. EMS, local post, UPS or whatever. It is really rare I don't get taxed no matter who it is.
Who should I email regarding an address change?

Potter’s brother is a major shareholder of a large factory .... there we go the manufacturing priority :)
Gutted I missed this, is it ever going to run again?
Edit, just read through above and saw there may be extras. That'd be fantastic. Should I just watch here for that? Put my name down in advance or something? This thing is so gorgeous!

Man, progress is screaming along! I'm so excited!
Odd choice to have the plates machined though... laser/waterjet cut would be quite a lot quicker and is almost always cheaper. Not complaining, just think it is an odd choice (as someone who deals with metal manufacturing on a daily basis)

Thanks! Lasercut indeed is faster and cheap but also less accurate than CNC though :)
Recent hospitalization due to an illness and subsequently the flood in the city of anodization shop will result in a slight delay to start shipping in May.
Waiting for the flood situation to clear up so we can finish the rest of the anodization jobs.

Wow, 88.20 USD to Romania. I guess the package is quite heavy.
There's a calculator on the SF Express website:
http://www.sf-express.com/sg/en/dynamic_function/price/
If you select some city in China, your country and 3 kg the price for SF Standard Express(International)(Package) matches the one on the invoice pretty well.

$42 to the US. Expensive, but honestly less than I had expected.
US doesn't pay VAT or equivalent fee afaik.

That has nothing to do with the shipping costs. Once it arrives to our countries we will have to pay vat also.

Should be happening soon, the test shipments were confirmed to have reached their destination, last we heard was potter would begin shipment after the 1-day holiday in China which was a few days ago. I’m unsure of if he plans on sending out address confirmation emails before shipping but I remember there being talks about that as well.
Hi guys, does anyone know what's the correct site to check the shipment status?
I tried http://www.wonwall.com since that was listed on the paypal invoice but it never seems to load for me.

Can confirm that Holy Pandas on Space65 (mine with Carbon Fiber plate) is absolutely dope typing experience.
how do we check the status? I didn't get mine yetYour PayPal shipping bill should update with a tracking number once it's shipped. And you should get an email from PayPal to inform you of the update. At least that's what I've read on Discord. Mine hasn't shipped yet either (and I didn't pick the brass badge) so I can't confirm any of it but it sounds right.
I paid the shipping invoice the 25th of May and still no update with the tracking number...
Only a handful of orders have been shipped. Potter was at the factory the last I heard from him and the shipping was planned to begin sometime this week after he went home.
The brass badges have finished so shipping should commence now.

The remainder had address issues with DHL, and Potter emailed those orders for corrected info. It sounds like if you didn't receive an email about the issue, your order was shipped. From Potter: about 200 international orders shipped. Roughly 20 some orders left to ship out

You should receive it via your invoice, but if you haven't received one yet that's normal.

I can't seem to put the board into bootloader mode to install a custom layout. I unplug it, hold the escape key then connect the USB cable but it just seems to turn on as normal and the QMK toolbox doesn't pick it up as an available HID.I don't have mine to confirm yet, but reset should be Fn (key next to left arrow) + Esc.
Anyone able to offer some advice?

I think you need to do it while plugged in, rather than while plugging in.I can't seem to put the board into bootloader mode to install a custom layout. Odd. It appeared to work briefly as QMK toolbox picked it up but Windows then did its "installing device drivers etc" then toolbox lost it. Since then I've not been able to get it to work again.

Got my Space65 yesterday! Was super excited... so excited, in fact, that I soldered all my switches on without testing the PCB. Soooo I guess what I'm saying is make sure everyone checks their PCBs before you start soldering, because I just got totally hosed.
Hey all, if you find anything wonky with the firmware please feel free to reach out to me, and I'll try my best to get it worked out. When I got this into QMK, there really wasn't anything to test with. Thanks for porting it over to QMK. I just built a hex file using config.qmk.fm and so far so good. :thumb:

Really solid. Infill loooks great.
Anyone with a brass plate having an issue getting their case closed tight? I keep getting a gap on top and bottom of my board. Carbon plate closes up just fine.
Wow. That mono one look amazing!Check out Jae's video of his Space65 build on the Top Clack YouTube channel. He shows the technique in detail!
How does one go about doing the infill?
Got my Space65 yesterday, but the plate should be brass instead of carbon.

Has anyone had any luck with the brass plate? Mine also doesn’t sit flush with it. Along the edges there is a ridge in a few places maybe from the machining? Since the ridges are on the back side of the plate I was planning on taking a grinder or file to them tomorrow to knock them off. Not sure if the plate is too thick overall or if the ridges will solve it.Update: the plate is not brass. I ground the ridge down and then the brass dipped coating chipped away and now it’s all peely looking. Maybe it’s copper underneath? I can’t tell

The plate is PVD coated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_vapor_deposition) brass. The coating you see is PVD, then you have the raw brass underneath.Has anyone had any luck with the brass plate? Mine also doesn’t sit flush with it. My brass plate also does not fit :(Quite a few people have holepunched/cut their feet to allow access to screws, from what I've seen.
Also, is no-one applying the rubber feet on due to screw location?
Did anyone get a brass plate that DID fit? Seems like they're all not the right size so far.I did my build with cf in the end due to preferable sound, but my brass plate fitted fine when i tried it out.
It’s very subtle. since it’s a sandwich plate when you fully install it and then screw the case together it seems ok except if you look at the side you can see the brass plate showing through the seamDid anyone get a brass plate that DID fit? First build - How do you change the LED settings on the side of the board? (Color, type, etc.)I couldn’t find the rgb control on the stock layout. I had to use qmk configurator to set the lighting control on the second layer

My brass plate fit fine... there was no gap when installed. However, when I put the brass badge on there, it created a tiny gap between the two halves of the board. Aluminum badge works fine. But if I don't put any badge on, it seals up tight all the way around with the brass plate.
Wondering if the manufacturer that did the plates had any kind of thickness quality control...
The thickness of the brass plate varies between 1.5 and 1.9mm on some sides. The carbon plate is a constant 1.5mm.I also think the carbon is softer so it allows for some compression
My guess would be that the coating dried unevenly. Where the plates hanging while drying? (all guesses, don't know the process)
Anyone make contact regarding the brass plate? Not sure if I should just chalk it up as a loss

I reached out to oldcat on discord today (he's a mod for the GrayStudio discord) and he said he will try to get a hold of Potter and let him know about this issue. Apparently, the best way to reach Potter is through WeChat. However, I can't even install it because it requires verification by a current wechat user and I do not know any. It really should not be this difficult to get in contact with someone running the groupbuy. If any of you guys with brass plate issues has access to WeChat, it would be super helpful if you could join Potter's group if you have not already done so and try to reach out to him that way. I have the QR code if anyone needs it.

Do you have all 3 front leds working?
Just the top light works. All three side lights do not. LEDs are pretty hardy, so I'm wondering if it's the connection.

That is exactly what I am seeing as well. only 1 of the 6 lights is working. I was thinking perhaps the LED went bad, but it is exceptionally unlikely that we would both have the same LED go out. That means perhaps a weak connection?
Find me on discord if you want to try to solve this together.

I would suggest to plug in USB 3.0 port and see if the leds all turn on, mine was on but so dim when connected to USB 2.0 although max out the brightness, then switch to 3.0 and it resolved. Hope this help.
I feel like such a dork even posting this. I bought a pre-built space65 and really like the way it is set up aside from the LED color. Is there a way to change/program that aspect without altering the other mapping?

With this kind of attitude AIRPORTER should not be running GBs at all. He produced parts which do not work properly. Interestingly the shipping just happened after the Paypal protection runs out... Sure I can now spend time to work on the plate, but this attitude pisses me off. Luckily the payment for shipping is not that long ago, so we might have some leverage to at least get a partial refund for the plate.

The situation isn't ideal, but as Potter is a resident in China and thus has access issues due to the Great Firewall, WeChat is really the only communication service he can use without a lengthy process. Previously he was able to access Geekhack and Discord without too much issue, but it appears it has become harder.

These days are China's National Day holidays (10.01-10.07). Factories need No. 8 to go to work.
I'll follow up as soon as they get to work. They should be coming out soon.
Another month and no news about the replacement plates. How about refunding, releasing the plate files and be done with this?
I would be fine with a non coated plate. Other GB also just offer sandblasted ones and I would be fine with it.
Just got a DHL shipping notification based on my original Paypal payment for shipping fees. No description of what's inside, but assuming it might be a new brass plate? But it's going to an address I moved away from long ago. So looks like someone lucky will be getting a NEW brass plate?! Thanks to Potter if it is indeed a brass plate.

will the GB hold on GH too?
Unfortunately, at this point I'm not expecting Graystudio to be providing any replacements for those who received faulty brass plates. I sent a follow up email in mid February and unsurprisingly did not hear anything back. They should really not be allowed to have an R2 until issues with R1 have been addressed.

Lol, got the money and I had to pay the Paypal fees (again). Damn you are a cheap bunch.Unfortunately, at this point I'm not expecting Graystudio to be providing any replacements for those who received faulty brass plates. I sent a follow up email in mid February and unsurprisingly did not hear anything back. They should really not be allowed to have an R2 until issues with R1 have been addressed.

Really? You have not received anything? If so, that is simply unacceptable. Try reaching out to mods on discord. If you want, I can send you his email. Not sure how often he checks though.

Lets just stop. I'm done with this. Keep the change. You only reacted because you are afraid that people who are complaining are bad for your business. Otherwise we would have gotten nothing. You give a damn if people get a working product. I learned my lesson, staying away from you guys. People are still willing to throwing money at you, so why bother?!
Cheers.
