What is the GB deadline? And is there a way to distinguish R2 pcb mounted 65G from R1 zealios (guess not, but who knows)?

All switches offered on my site will work with the WhiteFox keyboard drop.

Tentative GB deadline is Feb 27, but could end up closing earlier. I'll have a more solid deadline in a few weeks.
No, there's no way of distinguishing R2 PCB mounted 65gs from R1 unless you inspect the springs, etc.

MX Greens bottom out at around 90g, so my 78g Zealios are still a bit lighter.

Put in my order. Looking forward to it. I'm a heavy typer, so this'll be interesting. Now to determine what the hell I'm gonna build with it :p

I'll probably order some 67gs for my WhiteFox; though I would like to take a 'try before I buy' approach to the 78gs.

Regardless, I can't wait! :)

1.8mm, 3mm flangless, or 2x3x4mm LEDs should all work. The last option tends to be the brightest but can have some interference with keycaps, they're still my favorite option.

Is "65g - Transparent Top, Milky bottom" the only option for the plate mount, like Octagon v2?

No, Octagon v2 uses a plate but allows PCB mounted switches.

wait, apart from this one, are all the other's PCB mount? I thought they were all plate mount? My last batch of 62g were plate mount... I'm confused.

I'm glad this has a long period to order, because its gonna be impossible for me to decide what to get. Definitely getting some for my office numpad, and the 78's seem right up my alley for a 60% build... hmmmm.

I think everyone here is confusing Plate and PCB mount switches.

PCB mount switches have 2 extra plastic legs.
Plate mount are missing these legs.

You can convert a PCB mount switch to Plate mount by using a flush cutter and removing these legs.

You can put EITHER plate or PCB mount switches into a plate.

TLDR:  You should always get PCB mount switches and if you ever find a pcb that lacks the PCB holes... then use a flush cutter to remove the extra legs on the switch.

Ah ok, so they are the same as in R1... ok... I can feel comfortable with my order then :) As these are likely going on my Octagon V2

Production time + shipping will take roughly 2 weeks. Reshipping bulk order from Zeal PC to you will take roughly 3 weeks.

So lead-time is 5 weeks once pre-order is closed? potentially meaning that these switches may not be delivered until April?

It's just a rough estimate. I'll of course try to get everything out by March.

I need some of these. The 78g's are a bit lighter than the MX Clears that I usually prefer but it could be very nice for a 60% build I have in mind.

I'm guessing these would feel like regular MX Clears with Clear springs?

If you put MX Clear springs inside, yes, it would become a smoother MX Clear. 78gs are a "softer" MX Clear variant.

Could you not add that to the order form now? I'm going to get some more 67s, since that's what I ordered before and I don't change horses mid-stream, but those other horses might be faster and I'll never know!

Will GB R3 be around April - June? I know its early to ask but I am planning on getting some purple zealios but would like to get the sample pack first to test out the feel of them to make sure that i get the right one and to give my wallet some time fill back up. Also thank you for making these switches they look fantastic.

Anyone know what Zeal switch weight would be comparable to an Ergo Clear with 62g Gold Springs and lubed with Krytox 205/103?

Depends on how worn and how you lube your 62g ergo clears. Due to the smoothness of Zealios, you might have to bump up the weight to get roughly the same "feel". I'd say 65g would be the equivalent of 62g ergo clears, while being slightly more tactile due to leaf design in Gaterons.

So I have the 62g purple from R1.  I love these for typing large amounts,  but for gaming I want something heavier... I want to get an idea on the 78g feel?  What would one compare this to? I like MX clears,  and vintage black for gaming.

Thanks in advance.

78gs would be a softer MX Clear in weight, almost the same as vintage black weight.

So kind of like tactical Gateron black?  If so,  this might be my choice!

The "bump" is due to the stem, the 78g spring will just make it heavier.

Yeah I understand that, was wondering if it was like 62g vs 67g. Same slider but the bump in the 67g felt more tactile.

Could just be me tho :p

This is something I've wondered about... Would it be possible to cushion the bottoming out further by using two springs? Say a normal 65g spring, but about 2/3rd the length (though with the same weight) and then a really heavy spring (150g?) for the last 1/3rd length?

That way you would get what I imagine to be a really cool effect...

I don't think that's how springs work though, won't the amount of force required be similar to if not the same as a 65+150=215g spring?

It's a cool idea but I would be worried as to how hard it would be to create.

Quite possibly. I have no idea about these things, I just type.

2 custom made springs would theoretically be possible, but you're constrained by the limited space in the switch. For example: a heavier spring that has a reduced height would need to have thicker wires coiled to compensate the loss in compression (wider coils generally result in heavier springs). Once you overcome that issue, there's also the chance that the top spring will move around too much and could dislocate/deform over time.

67g Zealios ordered! Love my 62g ones from the first buy and would like to experiment with something a bit heavier.

I guess we'll have to wait till Jack and Adam figures out the electromagnetic switches they invented on their podcast :)

I apologize for my ignorance but unless we specified otherwise when ordering, are we to assume that the switches we receive will be plate-mounted?

No, I think PCB-mounted. At least the last batch were, and since the plate-mounted in this round are specified to be plate-mounted, I would assume the default still to be PCB mounted.

By the way, why don't we say mountable? They don't come pre-mounted after all... [8]
