I have to say I feel very bad for this unfortunate
-I confirmed that Eve came up with this design by himself and here are some initial design drafts (http://imgur.com/a/ci1v1);
-After the initial design, Eve made the CAD file and was looking for Logos and weight design, so he hired a guy who specializes in this (no really when we look back now)
-Guy denied our initial design (http://imgur.com/a/1eUpY) and provided the OC design and current weight design, also the following logo as we requested. We felt they were better design so they were adopted. And now we all know the rest :(
For those who are not familiar with China, Google shut down it's Chinese search engine in 2010, therefore a lot of obvious information to us is not so obvious to who lives in China. It's a shame that we didn't realize this earlier. After further dig up I surprisingly found that lots of design companies are doing shady stuff. At this point, we understand that there's no way we continue to run this GB without a new design. We have no intention to copy other people's work. With the regret I can't emphasize enough, I confirm we will put this GB on hold for now. Please accept our sincere apology. But we will come back soon with 100% original design. We might be even asking for your help for the logo design(for rewards), so everyone gets to express what they like!

Almost thought the same, then I remembered I can have it re-anodized or PEO (/MAO) treated at a local metalworker here for about 80-100$ (if I go that route I'll probably have it silver or matte silver, or in case of MAO Ceramic White or Matte Black with vieillissement)

My issue is that I shouldn't have to do that. The colors themselves are fine. But The fact that I can't take the Titanium Grey base and replace the carbon orange bothers me. Maybe the GB runner can shed some light on why they are locked combinations?

How will the programming of the board be done? Also you say it supports WS2812 LED moduel and multiple IO interface, but there isn't any acrylic cutouts so there wouldn't be any underglow correct? What is the IO interfaces for?

Program will be provided, not 100% familiar with that but it's by TKG-toolkit.
There's no acrylic cutouts on Moon so that WS2812 LED moduel is pretty useless on Moon. But if you like it you can always order for your other boards.

Parts are all aluminum ($435), for extra means you will get alu parts PLUS brass parts, to replace means you will only get brass parts

Not only are fixed colours not ideal for a $450 "Custom" , there's not even a neutral combination. grey on grey or any blue. Huge disappointment for me

Nice. Thank you for doing this! After checking out the color combo renders, I really do think they're quite lovely, and I can tell a lot of work went into them. I am torn but I think I'll still request something neutral to play nice with as many sets as possible :D

As for the PCB... I've never heard of TKG-toolkit... nothing like some casual nightmares about hardware keyloggers baked into unheard-of Chinese PCBs! I would really like to hear more about the origin of the PCB and the designer to get a better understanding of why a brand new weird PCB is needed for an otherwise pretty common keyboard layout...
The KC60 and all Red Scarf boards use TKG toolkit, means it runs TMK, so it can easily be ported to QMK. I'd love to hear where you read about that though.
TMK and QMK are vastly superior to Bootmapper Client and Jigon btw.

Hi, after the test I found that if you use the same email, it will not override the previous entry, there will be two records. You can cancel one of the invoices you get.

Same. I was somewhat hoping to get a combo of gold, silver, and black to resemble the Apollo Lunar Module, but it would probably be less trouble to just get the carbon one and stick SA Carbon on it.

1). Any indepth info on the PCB? I hope it's a user friendly (one that supports English?) also any pictures of the pcb?
2). Are there any more pictures of all the colors I see many names but I wish I could see the colors and not just names. For example "bamboo green'.. i wish there are just pictures of the different keyboard colors and not artistic shots blurs and filters are making it hard to correctly see the colors.
3). Dose it support HHKB style layout (split backspace, split rigth shift etc)?

looks good, pricey though
price is reasonable to me, the case isnt exactly the easier to machine. not all straight edges. the weight design, the stripes.. etc. not cheap.
Given the case design the price for this is very reasonable. EVE has done a great job and has produced a great board. Please support him and his group buy

Due to the unique design it's hard to allow 3rd party pcbs. However it can be achieved only you will have to use fixed cable.

Can we at least have more info on the pcb please? Despite how nice the case would be PCB still dictates the functionality of the board. Dropping more than $500 cash on an unknown pcb doesnt sound good at all for me. If anything none of us would want to see the ****show of Matrix board happens again with this groupbuy.
From what ive been told:
Its their own custom pcb. Supports kle, runs tmk/qmk. Supports full iso. Stepped caps, Wkl, wk. IO interface.
Dont think other pcbs will fit.

Same. I was somewhat hoping to get a combo of gold, silver, and black to resemble the Apollo Lunar Module, but it would probably be less trouble to just get the carbon one and stick SA Carbon on it.

What color combo for top plate and bottom plate are you envisioning? I think silver top, ink black bottom, and brass stripe, plate, and weight would look great and go with the most keysets. I really wouldn't want to substitute silver for gray though. On the other hand, my M65-A will be Space Gray, so it would be more of the same, and I keep fantasizing about that carbon theme.... it's just not very lunar.

15 color comination... if that's true, we will have around 3.375 color combination to choose from.
this is good for customer's size, but are you sure that EVE (and you) can handle this? (please say yes!)
other than that.. I really would like too see the anodizing/color sample (without film), please ;D
really opting between Pumpkin Orange and Champagne gold for my plate color.
also, would like to see the difference between Night grey and Dark grey as well.

Color is still the same but it should be named as champagne gold instead of light brown, more accurate

I'd be in for sure if full titanium or full black were options. That full silver prototype looks epic. I'd hate to put in an order and cancel/not pay if the color option isn't viable. I honestly wouldn't mind an extension till the last week of June, then I don't feel quite as much as a hopeless lost MKB addict by not having spent that much of a month's salary (it'd be payd from the June Salary, not may salary then) :P (But I'm good for this GB either way!

gold does make it a bit tricky... I noticed the GreenTea DCS set goes very well with champagne cases.
For my Black & Gold TriC 80 I'm planning to pop Penumbra on it, I think that'll match nicely too. (but simple white, black or grey sets match gold too imo)

Its an insert that is installed via press-fit or solder that allows you to install and use switches/LEDs without soldering them into place. This allows for hot swapping of the components for flexibility.

I've read that previous supporters of the Moon did not want the logo to change. Maybe they were not aware that the Moon logo had essentially been lifted from a game?
It's also worth noting that even the alternative logo is a direct lift from an existing company. It looks like someone Googled "moon logo" and used some of the ones that looked like they would be good for CNC.
It's still a fantastic looking board. Still, feels bad :(

It's the logo in the first page of this GB thread. The original logo was the same except the little circle was hollow. It was changed to the logo with crescent moon 'O's but no one liked it, so it was changed back to the original logo with the little circle filled in.
I can understand the sentiment of disliking the use of a logo from something else, but how many ways can one incorporate a circle into a word with two 'O's? I think it looks great the way it is.

have to say this is really concerning. As much as I reaaaaaaaallllllyyyyy want this board, I can't in good conscience condone stealing other people's design and IP. Hopefully zzjayfree could clarify whether or not the original designers of the logos were contacted prior to the keyboard being designed.

The case is beautiful - but grabbing the logos from the front page of Google images is the equivalent of slapping another car's logo on a Lamborghini.
If there's another round done in the future, I really hope some thought can be put into giving the Moon it's own logo. It's a fantastic looking case that looks to be end-game quality and definitely deserves it's own branding.
I really think the board looks great. As someone who loves keyboards, however, I can't help but feel disappointed at a missed opportunity.

For those who are not familiar with China, Google shut down it's Chinese search engine in 2010, therefore a lot of obvious information to us is not so obvious to who lives in China. It's a shame that we didn't realize this earlier. After further dig up I surprisingly found that lots of design companies are doing shady stuff. I found at least three companies are using the weight design and claiming to be theirs, one of which is what we used and paid for: 1)http://www.xmggsjgs.com/?mod=pad&act=view&id=35 2)http://www.yanqingidea.com/html/2016/sjzx_0802/2821.html 3) http://www.nipic.com/show/8833124.html At this point I have to say I'm shocked and very angry. However as a GB runner, I did not look deeper in this as I trusted EVE so much (I still do), and started this GB. For this I blame myself.
At this point, we understand that there's no way we continue to run this GB without a new design. We have no intention to copy other people's work. With the regret I can't emphasize enough, I confirm we will put this GB on hold for now. Please accept our sincere apology. But we will come back soon with 100% original design. We might be even asking for your help for the logo design(for rewards), so everyone gets to express what they like!

I think this was the best course of action in this situation. Rest assured the next time the IC comes up I'll be raring to go to contribute to the discussion on the logos, and of course, when this goes back up for GB, I'll be one of the first to sign up!

I absolutely adored this design and I was ready for the GB.
I don't know how it'll look when this comes back, but I will do my damnedest to have the funds to purchase it.
I respect you for canceling under the circumstances, and I am sorry that your 'designer' wasn't as much help as you thought he was. I'm ashamed to admit that I totally forgot that Google shut down in China, so I could see how this could happen.

it's a good keyboard, i loved that unique shape and cutting for brass insert !!Apparently Limitz first found out about the moon logo and than the weight design and the second logo. It can happen anytime during the GB span. This's actually lucky for us to happene before production starts.

I like your first pass more. I like all but the top right. I like the NASA font in the top left. The bottom left reminds me too much of Pacman, but again I like the font. I dislike the smaller circle in the first O in the bottom right logo, but this one might be my favorite font.

With that said, I'm not a huge fan of the now discarded designs. From an ascetics standpoint I preferred the original logo and the weight felt a little weak design wise. Though I liked it enough to join the group buy.
For the weight I like to propose using the moon phases like this.

We found our new logo, time for the GB to resume ;)
On a side note, it is a good thing Limitz found out before the GB actually started.

Thanks guys zzyjayfree has opened up a new IC thread i would suggest those with ideas please submit/resubmit theirs to https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90037.0 and let's help get this GB back on track. :thumb:
