Welcome all! You are greeted by Santigo Custom and our brand new first project done as a part of a team. For those is not familiar with me, I’m renowned for making custom cables (vintage and paracord) and taking part in manufacturing and painting Lyra keyboard.
It’s been a while since we formed a small team with bizunow currently being a lead designer. Everybody had a plenty of ideas and concepts in the world of mechanical keyboards. And today we want to present one of those ideas. It’s uncommon and probably unique of its kind 60% keyboard. I hope you appreciate all efforts put in this project.

WHO ARE WE?
Santigo Studio is the team of close friends who have known each other for a long period of time and who create projects in the field of mechanical keyboards. By working hard and putting all efforts from our PCB designer and all keyboard designers we produce products, which definitely won’t leave anyone indifferent


 

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?
I’m the owner of two CNC machines (HAAS & Mazak) and because of this I can provide the best price for consumers and control the process of manufacturing myself specifically talking of:
• Case manufacturing
• Sandblast processing
• Quality control
• Packing process
• Anodizing Process or Coating (Cerakote)
90% of all manufacturing process is done locally in Europe, and only PCBs will be produced in China. You don’t need to worry about that because we cooperate with proven Chinese factory. In Lyra’s GB everything ended swimmingly.




I want to devote this paragraph to plate set in our board. It was challenging for us to make exactly Leaf spring plate since we wanted to achieve even flex spreading and the main aim was to have PCB and switches not contacting with the bottom of the board. We’ve spent so much time testing and trying different materials such as aluminum, POM, PC, brass, carbon, ABS and we came up with an idea that non-spring POM and spring carbon fiber are the best options to be used in the plates of our keyboards. Those materials are both flexible and hard, that keep their form and provide spring function, unlike aluminum or brass, which we’ve considered as unsuitable. On the photo you can clearly see that springs are spread equally on the carbon fiber plate. We’ve also tried swapping them, expanded and narrowed them down until we achieved the best possible result.






So the specs are:
   • Manufactured by SantiGo studio in EU  Design bizunow
   • Plate mounting style – something similar to sandwich mount (because plate has special cutout where it will be put and pressed between top and bottom, top and bottom between themselves)
   • Material: Aluminum case 60xx series
   • Carbon fiber leaf-spring plate (regular / half)
          • POM plate (regular / half )
   • PCB: type  C daughterboard
   • Colors:  Black and Silver
   • Layout: 60% with both ANSI and ISO variants available. As an extra option we have 3 different available HHKB/WKL/Regular. You can find the price below.
   • Typing angle: 6.5°
   • Interface – USB Type-C





KIT costs 220 euro and includes:
• 1x – Case (Top and Bottom)
• 1x – PCB Plain C daughterboard
• 2x Plate – One plate Carbon fiber Leaf spring or regular or Half depending on your choice and one POM plate regular.
• 2x – Two foams (from felt): one for bottom, second between PCB and plate
• 80x – Switch films from my friend the_mihalich

This looks decent, though I'd definitely prefer getting the board (top + bottom), 1 plate and PCB for a lower price. Don't see a point in having another plate and all that other "extra" stuff. Would rather pay less than have things I do not really need / trust.

Hello.
As you can see, this kit includes two plates: a carbon leaf spring based plate and a POM plate.
POM plate doesn't include any springs, because it's soft and sounds and dampens completely different from the carbon one.
That was the idea in the first place - provide decent flexibility without increasing the price of the product. So, the community could give us more feedback - we want to improve our designs even more.

It looks like it's a complete sandwitch mount as you mentioned but where the plate is leaf spring. I can see a picture of it resting in the top of the case, but not where it's sitting in the bottom.

I guess I'm more curious on what pricing would be if there's regional vendors because vendors don't always go one to one with exchange rates. Of course if this runs straight through SantiGo then it should be about $270, which is still excellent

In the us it is technically a federal crime, and you are committing about three felonies in the process. If you get caught the buyer is responsible for paying any fines attached. Elsewhere has similar punishments and laws as well. It is a risk.

It’s very weird and unintelligible question, but I’ll still try to come up with the answer. I am registered as entrepreneur in Ukraine and I pay taxes there. Besides that, I’ve also discussed that question with my accountant. I live in Italy with my family, 2 children and my lovely wife.
(Why do I live in Italy, while manufacturing is located in Ukraine? I’m sorry, but I can’t provide an answer for this question, because of personal and family circumstances)
I’ve already written that it’s possible for me to set the lower price, but, also, if we have some customs issues, then I TAKE ALL RESPONSIBILITY, when we talk about low price, but not the fact that customer don’t need to pay 10-euro fee from package, that costs 50 euro. I’ve already had 3 successful GBs which includes more than 500 sold cables I’ve never faced with any custom issues.
In fact, you don’t buy whole keyboard, but only its parts. (there are a lot of nuances that need to be considered) Actually, many people decrease parcels price (it’s inappropriate for me to point fingers)
But if customer wants, I’ll declare the actual price and provide all documents required for his country customs

About CNC

Why do you think that they are INSANELY expensive? Are you provided with information what are exact models of CNC machines? Whether they brand new or I bought them used? It’s the first time I have that kind of questions during IC
Where did you get the money to run GB? Do you have a car? If yes, then what is model? How much does it cost?
Well, I am 30+ years old, I have a family and I work a lot. I bought those CNC machines more than two years ago, I just couldn’t find Russian-speaking keyboard designer. Or do you really think that I bought those, as you said, “INSANELY expensive” CNC machines just to manufacture 150 keyboard units? And I can say one more thing if you are so interested, I have not paid them in full yet)

Mate, I am ready to answer any question according to IC topic. If it’s necessary for you, I can provide photo and video of CNC machines, even with timestamp. But please, be more restrained with “how you came to own 2 cnc machines” and similar. It’s my private matter, how I got the money.



Also, I want to answer to the following question. “Why so cheap?” A lot of people wrote me in PM that I’ll provide low-quality product for such cheap price.

NO! Price doesn’t define quality. Price is defined by, dare I say it, economic of country, where it’ll be manufactured. For example, let’s compare Italy and Ukraine.
Italy:
Salary: 1000+ euro
Utilities: 80+ euro
Rental premises: 1000+ euro
Plus, there are a lot of extra costs such as garbage removal etc.
Ukraine:
Salary: min 100, average 300 euro
Utilities: ~10 euro
Rental premises: 150+ euro

To sum up, I want to say, that if I had manufacturing on Italy, then I would increase price significantly because of high living expenses.
And if I have manufacturing in country with low salaries such as Ukraine, with reduces utilities, then I can provide competitive price.
But if pay 320-350 euro for the SAME keyboard but manufactured in Italy, quality stays the same.
All word brand tries to move to or start up a factory in countries with low salaries – such as Ukraine.

I guess we are done with discussing customs and quality issues, but I am ready to answer if you pm me.

I think he is talking about cost of living in ukraine and italy is much different, that has nothing to do with people in ukraine being underpaid, overall living in ukraine is cheaper then living in italy, thats 1 of the main reasons salary is also lower.

I know... Sorry for that... My main point was that Lyra, the previous project by the SantiGo team/studio/whatever, have not shipped yet despite having been finished for a long time!

While I agree that stating beforehand to undervalue is a bit sus. Imo it’s fairly dumb that there are people now here “raging” about low paid workers etc and how that’s not right. You’re probably typing on your Apple or Samsung device that’s made in Asia under the same conditions. Somewhat double standards that it’s not accepted from a country within EU tradezone, but apparently nobody says a thing when the same thing happens in Asia.

I can still remember when people got mad because Kbd fans stopped undervaluing their packages.

A few of those colors are fairly similar, and already common anodizing options (grey and such). A dark green, or greyish green, and I wouldn’t be able to resist.

 1. PCB - As you might remember, the initial plan was to go with Plain-C PCB by Evi. Unfortunately, she have changed her plans, and don't have a time for this project right now.
However, we found even better solution and will work with our two friends you might know from their GitHub and other resources. So let me introduce you keyten  and  Bit Vadol  You can see the photos of their past works below.
The Monoflex PCB will have an astonishing wiring you will instantly love and we are working on it right now.

As long as our paperwork will be approved by payment gateway, we will know the date of GB.

I have transferred my responsibilities onto Keyten, the main PCB designer of this project. I've instructed him and he knows how to handle the situation. So hopefully, me leaving won't cause any delay to this project.

Yes. He is. Just as Bl4ck said, I've left Monoflex because of many-many issues with Lyra, fulfilment of which is SantiGo's responsibility.

Just a warning to you all on SantiGo Customs and all the issues the Lyra GB has had with him: https://redd.it/nfnbau

Basically SantiGo has full control of the Lyra GB but publicly denies that and has been promising shipping "next week" for 5 months but refuses to show any pictures of all the finished boards, packed, with shipping labels like he's claimed.

He's also threatened to bulk ship all the boards he was paid to do packaging/fulfillment for to the original GB designer to "teach him a lesson" by forcing him to pay customs or risk having the shipment detained.
