Repairing damaged PCB pad?

I put my Noppoo Choc Mini through 5 years of abuse, it was extremely dirty and the switches felt very rough so I decided to just take it completely apart, remove the switches and replace them. About a third the switches had bent pins making them a pain to remove, and this one in particular pulled up the pad. It's not completely detached but obviously not in good shape.. How would I fix something like this? Could I get away with laying it flat (third pic) and just soldering over it like I normally would?

fwiw I've only ever soldered once before so I was basically just using this board to practice with since I'm not very attached to it.

Have a look at this. In your case one end of the wire would be soldered directly to the switch leg.

any places that you have lifted traces, follow the trace and add a jumper between pads. this will ensure connection if the trace is broken.

Do you know if there a specific gauge/material wire I need to use for repairs like this? Would a regular bare copper wire do the job?

no, no specific gauge wire, anything you have on hand would work. better to use a regular wire with insulation than a bare wire, that way you don't accidentally get a short.

- cut wire to length
- remove little bit of insulation from the ends
- tin the ends of the wire with solder
- put wire in place and solder to desired pins/pads

you could pull apart an old usb cable or network cable if you don't have wire laying around. (probably be 24-30ga which would be fine)
