how does it feel to know you could have got the entire Humble Bundle for ~5.60?

Speaking of, finished Red Faction: Armageddon (awesome, love the magnet gun) and working through SRTT now. After that i'll give the rest of the games a go, keep me busy till xmas.

I bought Just Cause 2 from steam for £3.49 (I think) on offer the other day and i'm really getting into it. Not sure if constantly capturing all the towns will get a bit repetitive, and the military seem to go mental on occasions i.e wanted level of 1 and they are bringing in the air support!

Choppers are easy mode in that game though, because you can actually hook onto them and hijack them, causing more carnage.

The landmark capture/destruction is pretty repetative but not nearly as bad as JC1. The missions are usually solid and fun enough even though the story, as usual, is a pretty flimsy pretext for why you need to drive a car fast and/or shoot ****.

If you want a real challenge, try to destroy that entire oil refinery on the island that looks like a skull in one go. Took me almost 2 hours.

Also, I suggest fully upgrading that little black one-man jet (can't remember the name) to do your scouting missions as it's crazy fast and fairly inexpensive. Just do flybys on landmarks (I got 100 percent discovery but not 100 percent completion before my HDD took a dump one day.)

Also check out the mods for the game, especially the unbreakable tether and multi-tether. Add tremendously to the fun if you get bored because you can just chain a whole bunch of things together and laugh and laugh and laugh.

It gets a little boring, but there's plenty of mods to make it more entertaining. It's supposed to play out like a B movie, so some silly stuff is ok.

I've still got my fingers crossed for Just Cause 3.

Then again i'm also still waiting for Jericho to be put back on the air and for Killer 7 to get a true sequel, so. . .

Anyone checked out Miasmata?

That one with the tentacle tiger on steam greenlight? Looked weird lol. Didn't really capture my interest as i've still got a pile of backlog i'm wading through.

I'm playing Fallout New Vegas and Mark of the Ninja. Both games are a lot of fun but it took a little time to start liking New Vegas because it was the first Fallout game I've played and it moves fairly slowly. Mark of the Ninja is a great indie 2d stealth game.

Skip the tutorial and get into a fight with some powder gangers if that's your deal.

I am level 15 now and have arrived in New Vegas to confront somebody in a casino. They wanted to take my guns so I started shooting all of the armed people working at the casino. I'm now a villain with the people at the strip. I've also got Boone as a companion. I'm using a laser rifle of some sort, it's one that charges itself. I want to buy a fancy one from the automated vendor just outside New Vegas but they're very expensive. The game is definitely fun now it just took me a little time to get into it.

Picked up Far Cry 3 for the Xbox (don't think there would be any way my poor computer could run it) and it's a phenomenal game. Great world, great story with awesome characters, just really fun all around. Having trouble putting it down!

How do you go playing FPS on a console?  I am used on the PC to twitching the mouse to do a 180 to see what is behind me, but as I understand it the console has a rocker switch or something you push to turn sideways relatively slowly.

Is that right?  Or not?

No? Playing console FPS's is fine, yeah it's not as good as kb/ms but its still fine, and most games are designed to be played like that these days anyways

you're missing out if your into gaming rather than just doing it randomly... there are some really amazing games that you can only get on console... my own personal GOTY being Journey... something that everyone really should play!

but yeah playing FPS's on console's is fine, but its not PC level...

It's not too bad, but I do much prefer using a keyboard and mouse for FPS games. I usually just crank the sensitivity up on the controller pretty high so I can still kinda twitch and turn around like on the PC. I really need to get another gaming rig to play these new games on PC, but one thing I do love about the Xbox is the achievements and gamerscore. On Steam I never really care much to get achievements because it doesn't seem to matter as much, but on Xbox I love doing it because having a high gamerscore is awesome  :p

how is planetside 2? I watched some game play videos and it looks pretty interesting. I'm waiting on firefall which looks pretty promising too.

Tried. Didn't like.

Basically I was trying to repair a turret and got shot about 10 times. So I went sniper and found out that only one faction (there are 3 main) has a good sniper rifle. Went back to engineer and tried to heal a tank which promply backed over me, killing me instantly. Nobody on the team was using teamspeak or mics and there was no communication. We eventually lost the base and I uninstalled later that day.

Perhaps if you had 3+ friends to play with you could do something but for the most part it seemed like a random cluster****.

100% agreed Internetlad, unfortunately.

-nobody seems to communicate. At  the most you will see people using the Galaxy to take busloads of people and just drop them into combat.
-performance issues on my computer. I Have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M plus 8 gigs of RAM and an i7....  why can't I play at over 30 frames per second most of the time?

Needless to say I've ended my subscription based on the performance issue, let alone the fact that like you said, it's a gigantic cluster ****. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

It's a neat idea. A lot of people seemed to have connection issues. Some yellow faction guy was warping around so badly I thought it was intentional, found out later he was just lagging.

If you had about 4 buddies who all had mics and did eleet squad tactics it would probably be a blast.

Join a platoon, the game can be fun going lone wolf. But you're going to have a lot MORE fun with a squad of 12, a platoon of 48 being lead by squad leaders and a commander
