Will the ergo kit ship with the R3 opening and closing brackets keycaps? Those would be doubled up since they already are in most alpha kits. I would suggest changing them for tab and -

But ah, they show up as sold out on DC. Is there a limited availability or something?

I'm super excited, this is the endgame for me. I just want to make sure I understand correctly - is this an "order RIGHT NOW or you might miss out" thing, or is it "so long as you order before Sep 1, you'll get what you ordered" thing?

If you order before September 1st you're guaranteed to get what you ordered. GBs rely on people to pay upfront for a product that will be produced in a factory by request and sent out when complete.

Hey friend, welcome to the addictive world of mechanical keyboards! Just an FYI, since I'm not sure it's clear for beginners, but this is a group buy just for the keycaps, not a complete keyboard. You'll want to select the appropriate kits out of what's listed to fit a particular layout. To have a complete build, you'll also need the keyboard itself (consisting of a case & PCB), switches, and stabilizers. This is for sure an end-game cap set, but you'll want to make sure you choose the correct combination to cover whatever keyboard you have (or is coming in the mail). If you already knew this then please disregard. :thumb:

Not that long ago, I missed on the Space65 r2 GB. Still can't get over it. But I made it my goal that one day I'll get one by any means.
Then all of a sudden this keycap-set pops up out of nowhere. It would be perfect for a future Space65-build (EVA-01 or Terminal). It's a sign, has to be :D
So this will probably be my first GB ever. Great looking set, very interesting. Especially considering I'm a fan of uniform profiles. (My bad, these are not uniform :D).
Would love to see more renders with different combinations.

Nice to see it live. Got my order in for probably two boards.
Got a TKL set and a dayglow one, along with text mods and 40% + novelties.
I'm pretty much only using 65-75%s nowadays, but who knows what I'll be into feb 2021, if still alive.
This set just looks really good, but I'm kind of bummed out the regular alpha's in single legend are on the white side, but using the TKL set bypasses that.
Still waiting on my first KAT caps set, so I really do hope I like the profile.
Anyway, really cool set, happy to day 1 it, and looking forward to more artisans to join in.

Yes they do the white areas shown are all RAW Glow in the dark plastic (off white during the day / glowing green at night)

Are there minimum order quantities for each set? Do we get an alert if a set isn't going to get produced? I want to get a couple of different alpha looks, just don't want the rug pulled out at the end...

Originally I wanted mono-EN until I noticed the differences in raw GID vs green GID print EN legends, at which point I waffled over to EN:katakana.
Now I'm leaning towards text mods, which IMO match better with the raw GID alpha legends.
But I think I might also pick up the TKL kit for a spare Mysterium build, which is mono-alpha with green printed legends... At which point I'd either end up with two EN sets (one TKL with icon mods and one alphas+text mods), or two green-printed sets (same TKL and EN:katakana... with mismatched text mods? Or maybe I'd go with icon mods to match)...
I call this option overload.

Looking at the set pictures it's not clear what's being shown. Some letters are off-white, while some are green. Is this supposed to show how it looks during the day compared to night? What about the sets where there is both at the same time?
All of the kitting displays how the keys will look during daylight, as thats how the keys will looks most of the time. Theres an example of which areas glow when charged in the first post as well before the kitting.
Ok so Alpha:Alpha does not have any glow on it? And omega/numpad only has glow on /*=- but not on the numbers?
Or, maybe I'm getting it now. There are two colours, one is green and one is off-white. And they will both glow almost the same green in the dark? Am I getting it right?

Hi, loving the kits. Just wanted to ask, on the Whimsy-esque 40% render (the one with the encoder and oled), next to the spacebar, it looks like a 1.25u layer change either side. Which of the kits includes this? Thanks.

colevrak kit (i'll throw these in for my colemak layout. Might make it look more cyber to have single legend sprinkled in. We'll see. not a fan of eng alphas so didn't go for that one)

After manufacturing, will those keycaps be shipped to Rama Works first then distributed to all the vendors worldwide, or vendors like Zfrontier will get the shipments directly from the manufacturer (I assume the factory is in China)? Just trying to figure out the fastest way to get the delivery. Thanks.

You need one of the mod kits or the TKL kit for most of the modifier keys. The novelties are accent keys for enter, the bottom row and various 1u key across the three top rows.

pandaman97 was talking about the Beta/40s kit which will not cover a tsangan layout. Both Beta/Icon and Beta/Text mods will cover that layout though, sorry for the confusion.

2 alpha kits and a mod kit can cover a 60% and a 65%. Just have in mind that you'll have to use split and 2u backspace as well as ISO and ANSI enter on your boards. Also make sure that you use different bottom rows on both keyboards. There's also only a single R4 Esc key but that's easily substitutable.
If I were you I'd add the novelties instead of the 40s kit to your order because that adds additional (ANSI) enter, R4 and a bunch of bottom row keys. Also they look really cool ;) That's assuming of course that you don't plan on building anything sub 50%.

I came over from Slurp which borrowed kitting elements from this iconic masterpiece, and got stuck there looking at the North kit trying to piece together ISO-DE (there are multiple swaps of primary & shift legends in Slurp / North, I am going to address those in a separate post). Yes, I am aware of the down-shift legends (genius!)...
Short on credits, most probably going to pick up only TKL... and congratulations on the successful run :thumb:

I see Kono store is selling "extras". I'm not sure what that means. Are they still filling full orders for the kits listed, or is it a dice roll? Like maybe we get it, maybe we don't?

It's not a dice roll. Most vendors order extras to sell after the set has been received, since there are always people who regret missing the GB. After the GB closes but before production, some vendors take orders for a percentage of their extras. Often these are called pre-orders, but there's no hard and fast rule for the terminology. It's a safe bet that pre-order prices are higher than GB prices.

Which means since I wasn't quick enough I get to pay them for performing the service of having essentially reserved some extra stock for people like myself who came late.

Well, lets see if I can explain this so it makes more sense:
After a GB ends, vendors usually order extras ON TOP of what people bought during the length of the GB. Some vendors sell their extras right after the GB ends as "Pre-Orders" which is at a higher price because you wait less, since the set is already in production and it's guaranteed to be made. This is what Kono is doing.
On the other hand, some vendors sell their extras AFTER the sets ship, so they won't be released for sale until the customers that joined during GB got theirs, plus replacements for lost parcels, etc. Usually, "Extras" pricing is even higher than "Pre-Orders", since these will be in-stock, ready to ship sets with no production lead time. Furthermore, some vendors incorporate both of these strategies, having both "Pre-Orders" and "Extras" for sale, creating a 3-tier price structure.
It usually goes like this. GB price: $129.99 Pre-Order:$149.99 Extras: $179.99 (In the case of a standard base kit. This varies, of course.)

Kono Store (US Vendor) says production end of Q1 and shipping a month after. (https://kono.store/pages/weekly-update) So the end of February would only be a couple months off. 9 months would be closer to June, right?

No the white rabbit caps are 1.5u at the longest.
Because I've looked into this myself, I'd like to help you out. For a 75% keyboard with the keys you need, you can get the TKL + 40% kits or the Alpha + Icon Mods kits. A cheaper (but not as esthetic as you'd be using a spacebar for shift) is to get TKL + a spacebar kit.

No units is individual keycaps, not total kits. Keyreative (manufacturer) calculation of MOQ is different from other manufacturers'

An alpha keycap is one unit. A 6.25 spacebar is 6.25 units. An ISO enter is 2.75 units (1.5 + 1.25). Kits are roughly between 25 and 120 units, entirely based on the total width of all keycaps in that kit.

I never imagined myself buying custom keycaps, but this set seems to be exactly what I want in my 'perfect' keyboard. I'm brand new to the custom keyboard scene, so I apologize if I'm asking dumb questions, or if I shouldn't be asking in this thread.
I tried reading through the threads, but I can't seem to find confirmation on if there is any shine through on these? I understand that with the GID it probably wouldn't be as much, but will we be able to see backlighting color through the keys at all?
I'm planning on using the kat cyberspace set for an 84 key 75% keyboard with RGB.
If I wanted to get all 84 keys in the white/text legends version, which I think I'd prefer, would I need to get both the Alpha and Text Mod kits, or is there a cheaper way to get it done? it kind of feels bad paying for so many keys that I'd never use. Is that just an inevitability for these group buy/pre-order scenarios? Like, the only way to hit minimums needed on different sized shift keys is to make more ppl buy all the different sizes?

The TKL kit will just cover a tkl and i feel like you'd be fighting a loosing battle getting that kit if it doesnt already cover your board, text icons and your alphas of choice would for sure be your best bet, itll also cover you if you ever choose to get a different board ;D

It varies from vendor to vendor, but at least for Kono, I don't think we'll see anything in at least 4 more months.

You'll love it if you're already used to Cherry profiles, I just switched from Cherry profiles to KAT Alphas and it didn't take any time at all to adapt. It feels very natural using these KAT profiles because it's not as steep as SA profiles :thumb:

I would rather they take a few extra months than to receive sloppily printed crap quite a few other sets. In the meanwhile I'm keeping an eye on other KAT runs to see how their supposed manufacturing process overhaul holds up in terms of end result.

Latest from Keyreative:
Production is well underway and currently estimated to be QC'ed and ready to leave the factory by the end of September, kits from the start of production are already being shipped to Ulliam to QC and sets from the middle and end of the run will be sent to Ulliam before he gives final approval, this won't delay the set getting out.

Last update as I understood it was production was set to be completed at the end of September. Its been crickets since then. There was a section of the Discord that was keeping regular updates but that has not been maintained since July...
So yeah man. I don't know. Hopefully "soon"?

I just want to echo a lot of the other people here... I know my post count isn't high, but I understand how these GB's work and that it takes time. That's totally fine with me so long as the finished product is beautiful (Aka. Don't GMK Dracula me bro).
What I don't like, is having no idea what's happening after I was told things would start moving. Obviously this group buy is now over a year old at this point, and even though I've seen some pix posted, I would like SOMEONE to give us a real, honest to god update as to WTF is going on. You want to tell me it's 2 more months (and it's really going to be 2 months) cool, that's fine.
But we all need SOMETHING to go on here, or else my kids are going to get a package some day after I die and wonder what dumbass would buy 'keycaps', and that would be embarrassing.

Y'all need to calm down. Keyreative (KAT manu) is well behind on a lot of their orders that have been made over the past year. The company put out a large update via zFrontier earlier this year claiming that their capacity is limited and that they're working on additional methods of production (including double-shot).

The most recent set to "ship" from them was KAT hyperfuse which was delivered to Chinese customers with incorrect kitting causing Keyreative to go back and remedy a lot of things.
Completely get that you want to have the set in your hands and updates every step of the way, but this is very likely a case of there being nothing to provide an update on given all of the delays that have been happening.

You are not crazy, doesn't hurt say: "the set still in production" or "color match sucked, so we are gonna do it again", that's called an update, and for a set that is already late it is very educated to give to us customers.

Especially considering that the caps were promised to be done by the end of September and it's been a month since then. I am pretty sure that if they were done, we would have known by now so I am going to guess that something happened but what do I know...
I don't think anyone would be upset if there is another delay - we just want to know what is going on. For me personally, knowing the reason for a delay helps to cope with it better.

Mine apparently arrived in Australia now. I'm just worried about the QC or lack thereof with other Keyreative sets lately since I won't get a chance to pick up or inspect the keycaps for probably at least another few months, and the odds of them fixing damaged/missing keys that late is effectively zero.

Was the top left novelty key (the UR key in the novelty kit image) supposed to be exactly how it was in the kit image, or was it meant to be a vendor novelty key? Just wondering because the 2 novelty kits I got both have a zFrontier logo key instead of the UR key.

Aside from that the set is fairly decent. The colors came out nice. The GiD is great, but is fairly short-lived without constant lighting. I didn't have any missing keycaps, damaged keycaps, or bad/melted stems like I did with Hyperfuse. There's a few keys where the legends are slightly out of alignment, but that seems to be the norm with Keyreative's dyesub. The long spacebars in the Violet Bar and Green Bar kits - 6u, 6.25u, and 7u - all have varying degrees of warping to them. The green bars have worse warping than the violet bars do. Interestingly enough, the En-Katakana spacebar isn't warped at all. I'm still waiting on the Akira deskmat. They put a handwritten note on the order slip next to the deskmat entry that says "not arrive yet - ship later".

Just got mine (in France). Mostly great, some stems are tiiightt but do fit. I wonder, wy are the glitched E/R/Y on the "wrong" row ? I see they are that way on the GB, but I don't understand.
Also A/Q (french kit) and V are slightly misaligned, doesn't bother me much but...

As for my question in this thread on the 25th, it seems that the UR keycap was intentionally changed to the zF vendor logo. This was verified with zFrontier's email support where they said "It's all replaced from UR to zF". So this seems to be by design. I'm still wondering if this is a unilateral decision by zF, or if this was intended by Ulliam.

Not sure. Most, if not all, of us here are still waiting for our orders to arrive. Kono in the US is said to ship out orders sometime next month but with all the delays we'll see how that goes. I'm sure there will be extras though with how many people already canceled, lol

shipping from kono def seems to be scuffed. Had a preorder ship with #7XXXX number before my original #6XXXX number. Seems like theyre just sending out without being in order. weird.

Yeah I ended up making a couple of separate orders on this set. Received two of the add-ons (numpad and icon mods). Haven't even gotten a shipping notification for the TKL set I bought. I e-mailed their support about 4 days ago. Haven't heard a peep back from 'em. Hopefully something comes through soon. I can't really do much with just icon mods and a numpad kit...

Damn that's dedication to the theme to install UV LEDs to the PCB.
I'm tempted to get Solaris switches, but I can't be bothered with the effort to expose them to the lighting required to show off the hint of the glow in the dark between keycaps.

I have another board (the 7V) that has green in-switch LED's which might actually look better than this. I'll post another photo when i get around to mounting the caps on that board. Might do a video on it because I even went so far as to program special lighting effects for this exact purpose... so yeah, dedication to the theme for sure lol
Edit// My opinion nobody asked for: I'm actually a little disappointed in the contrast / boldness of the colors on these caps. They really only pop if you have underglow/lighting effects of some kind. In standard indoor lighting environment they are very dull and hard to read. With underglow, the light bleed through the black color is very noticeable. You can tell in my photos the glow shines right through it, and the light doesn't distribute particularly well to the upper portion of the caps so the sublegents are quite a bit brighter than the primary legends. I tried with the standard alphas and it wasn't any better, and the dayglow alphas were probably the worst of all (although some might prefer their overwhelming appearance). I was kind of hoping for a more opaque / high-contrast look, like what you get with shine-thru doubleshot caps. Also the green coloration on the legends does nothing but make the contrast worse - should have just exposed the raw for most of the legends IMO. I regret not buying the raw alphas- would definitely trade dayglow for raw if anyone wants.
But all-in-all, the theme and typeface is still really beautiful and i don't regret going in on it... but in the future I will be avoiding any reverse dye-sub GID.

Wow, a 2020 keycap GB shipped :eek: I had two separate orders, only received tracking for one. Both were delivered today. I even got the 'Fuction' key :thumb: I'm looking forward to installing this set on my U80-A Kuro Stealth and turning down the lights :cool:

Don't think leaving them in the sun for days will do anything, honestly. If it's anything like watch lume, 15-30 minutes is all it takes to max it out, more than that simply does nothing. However, the key is UV. The sun only gives out so much UV light, so if you really want to charge those caps up instantly, get a small UV flashlight and just shine it over the keyboard for a few seconds. It'll probably make them glow very bright, albeit for a very short amount of time.

Finally took delivery in the EU today.
No matter if I throw sun or pure UV at this, it doesn't glow enough to notice it at all unless in a totally dark room. Aka I have to turn my screen off to see the glow. Even with the dayglow set. Maybe Raw would be better in this regard.
Interesting to have some scooped KAT homing now. Kind of weird, not sure if Ulliam or Keyreative forced that in. I recall reading this change in the Discord (rip). At least they are actually nice.
