[IC] Mouse Wrist Rests/Alternative Sizes
« on: Tue, 08 July 2014, 14:21:58 »
Hello all,

A couple people have been interested in wrist rests for mice, or smaller ones to use with nonstandard boards (so you could have one for each hand that you can put wherever works best for you).

I decided to draw up a couple of the suggestions I had received and ask you all for some feedback.  What size/shape would you prefer?  Any special ergonomic reasons why?

Right now, here are the three possibilities.
Small and curved I would price in the 40-50 range (basically like half an ErgoDox), Large would end up being 70-ish (?) due to the extra leather needed but I'd have to do the math.

1) Large - the same width as a 60% rest, but a depth of 13 cm (just over 5 in) instead of 9 cm/3.5 in
2) Small - the width of a "standard" 9 in mouse pad, and the standard depth of my wrist rests (9 cm/3.5 in)
3) Curved - same total size as Small, but the bottom third is curved.
EDIT 4) Even Smaller - Same size as small but 7-8 inches wide!

The constant unit mixing is a Canadian habit, so I put them all on the same page so it makes more sense.  :p

Any other size or shape suggestions are welcome!

Would be really cool with a 40% size wrist rest :D
The JD40/SmallFry is around 9.8 inches. So the small wrist rest would work.
