Title: [IC] Group Buy - KP PBT Dyesub (Two tone grey, Icon mods)

This is an interest check for a black on grey PBT Dyesub set designed by KPrepublic. The colors are a grey and not beige (I’m sure we have enough beige sets floating around at this point). I’m trying to get a feel to see how many people would be interested in a kit with roughly the same compatibility as a GMK base kit. The idea here is to run an affordable thick PBT keyset and to get rid of keys that people don’t really need while consolidate everything into a single kit with keys that aren’t currently available (like the dark grey pipe, R2 PgUp, etc…) The keys are 1.5mm thick PBT and have no LED bleed. The cost would be somewhere around ~~$55-75 (have yet to get a quote) shipped CONUS with USPS priority mail in bags.~~I'm trying to keep the price for the base kit at 50+shipping. There’s also the possibility of accents (as seen in the first picture) for additional cost. I am also thinking of getting JTK Trays for these depending on how many people are interested in them, but again, the cost for shipping would be higher with the trays. MOQ will probably something around 50 sets.

I would honestly say that the legends are definetly not as crisp as IMSTO or the OG dyesubs. They're more or less the same quality as epbt I would say.

I'll definitely look into the homing keys without the bars. Have them on my board right now and am really liking them. Which R5 keys though?

Edit: I've actually never seen any bar-less homing keys with the thick PBT keycaps. All the manufactures (IMSTO, Gateron, NPKC) only offer the homing keys in scooped and barred afaik.

Its definitely possible. If they aren't kept as is, I might consider going for icon mods since there aren't a lot of dyesub kits with icon only mods out there at the moment.

NPKC Makes two kinds of caps. The thinner OEM ones and the thick PBT ones. These will be the thick PBT ones.

As far as texture goes, the rougher HHKB stuff is really hard to come by. I don't think I've seen the rougher texture on any dyesub caps. The only ones that are MX compatible that I can think of would be the Leopold keycaps.

Are you mixing up OEM with something else? OEM is a profile, PBT is a material - they're not mutually exclusive

As far as I know NPKC only do OEM profile? Edit: found some cherry profile on kbdfans

I would be interested in Icon mods. I also think blue legends would look great, much like the OG Olivetti/TA Satellite 4 caps.

Color wise, it's similar (Greyish), but the mods seem to be little bit lighter, so you don't get as much contrast between the alphas and the mods as you do with muted.

Quick mockup from kle-render has a few imperfections here and there but it should be enough to show kit compatibility. Gonna stay with traditional mods this time around. Numpad and ISO enter should have text above the symbol but that didn't make it on there for some reason.

Also, to answer some questions, I don't think that NPKC has scooped-only homing keys so we're kinda stuck with scooped+barred.

I’m in favor of either. Personally I dig all icon mods, but a compromise of 9009 would be better than none!

I thought 40% keyboards usually use 1.5u or 1.75u Backspace

Personally, I think just the simple '<---' icon is best for the R2 1.5u backspace. No text, no <[X] icon. Feel like if we're going to do a GB, might as well make it something that's not readily purchasable. I've converted the preview to the icon mods and fixed things like key sizes. I need a little more input with the 40 compat kit as I have never really done any work with 40% boards. Exact pricing will be in a little bit as I'm just waiting to hear back.

A few notes below.
- Capslock will be close to what GMK uses (semicircle with lock shackle)
- R1 Underscore/Minus is wacky. It certainly won't look like when produced.
- This is NOT what will be sent to the dyesubber. That won't be posted for obvious reasons.
- I need some input on the 40 percent kit. I feel like its missing something
- Winkey will stay as "code" and menu will be as is. I won't be doing icons for those.

I'll try to get that done. Trying to fix the kerning on the text part of the mods too. They need something like 0.05mm more between each character.

Any chance for a mac compatibility kit? With the regular mac keys, plus a 'cmd' that's 1.75 R3 and a Fn thats 1.5 R2? That would be sweet and would cover HHKB mac layouts as well as Fn/Tab swappers (tap for tab, press for Fn)
