The idea is to offer additional modifier keys for, in my opinion, popular colour schemes.

There will be a total of four different mods, three from the Space Cadet and the Compose key.
Keys will be offered in both R4 (profile B) and R5 (profile A), although I doubt Compose would fit 1u keys.

Colour schemes proposed: Classic Beige, White on Black and Dolch.


Should this be successful, I'll be possibly offering the same set in three more colour schemes (Skidata, Olivetti and Black on White).

I haven't asked for a quote yet for I wanna check some interest first.
Also, this won't be run directly by me so I'll be trying to make a deal with a vendor active in the community.


I think it's all for the moment.
Any feedback is warmly welcome.


UPDATE #1:
I've update the title to better depict what I'm trying to do. There will be a total of five different addon packs (although I might merge two into one) for the classic colour schemes shown in the KLE mockup.

UPDATE #2:
I asked GMK for a quote and it should be ready in a few days. For the time being they've sent me the official render.

UPDATE #3:
I received the following quotes from GMK.

at a MOQ of 150: 61,94€/Set
at a MOQ of 250: 53,80€/Set
at a MOQ of 500: 47,37€/Set

All Prices excluding VAT, Banking Fees, Dispatch.

UPDATE #4:
The gentlemen at CandyKeys agreed to run the GB for me. They will also make contact with proxies for the USA and Asia.
The price for a set will likely be € 80 plus shipping @ MOQ 150.

As long as it doesn't use custom colors (colors that aren't stocked normally with GMK), it should be fine. Otherwise, I heard that GMK won't run sets under 104 keys if the kit has custom colors.

Definitely joining. I am always interested in buying old sets that are in classic beige and white on black; thus, I need mods to pair them with, so this is a strong yes.

I've updated the KLE mockup with GMK colours and keysets names since it, apparently, wasn't clear enough in the first place.
I've also updated the title for the reasons stated in the OP.

I've bought many old OG winkeyless sets (with four 1.5u bottom row caps). If I wanted to use the caps on a keyboard with a standard layout, how could this benefit me, since it only has 4 1.25u caps?

Being it an addon pack, the target is to extend the bottom row by replacing some of the existing mods in a keyset.

Maybe see what the interest in adding in a 2.25u shift would be, since many GMK kits do not come with an extra L shift. Would be a nice addition for owners of 65% boards that uses them. Not sure what the interest would be on them but as an owner of a few boards that use 2, 2.25 u shifts I'm always finding myself short on them.

It may be beyond the scope of what you are trying to accomplish, but as someone who has several vintage Cherry sets with varying compatibility, I would love to have a kit that has modifiers to fill the bottom row. I know a complete compatibility kit with all modifiers and navigation keys is out of the question, but I would buy something with:

7 x 1.25 unit B profile
4 x 1.50 unit B profile
4 x 1.50 unit A profile
2 x 1.00 unit B profile
2 x 1.00 unit A profile

for each colorway. The Hyper, Super, and Meta legends are cool with me.

Shift keys are out of scope for this is a bottom row addon pack.

Yeah. I know about the colours, that's clear. What I've been trying to say, and what jdcarpe already said, is that you need to focus on something to add to. Many of us have an OG gmk set, which has only 1.5u keys: are you adding some keys to that sets? It would be very useful to add 7 1.25u keys to that set.

The Carbon and Nautilus Watsters were both custom colors, unless you're saying GMK doesn't consider it a custom color if they've ever produced that color before. They aren't stock GMK colors.

Great idea! Only thing missing from some of the classic kits. In conjunction with the GMK 1800 expansion kit in IC phase, it looks to be a promising year for only the best colourways ;)

Correct. One quote for all fiftyfour keys.

Post the quote. Intersting things sometimes happens aften mistakes.
I assume you're right.

Since I would need a vendor to run this, posting the quotes would clearly disclose how much markup they would be asking to handle the group buy. I understand that's a lame thing to do business-wise but I don't think I have any other option since price is always one of the most important variable when buying something.

As stated in the OP, quotes are for the whole set and they don't include VAT, bank fees and shipping to whomever will actually run the GB.
With a rough estimation, I reckon sets will cost around € 80 excluding shipping costs.

Thoughts gentlemen?

Good news folks,

The gentlemen at CandyKeys agreed to run the GB. The price for the set will likely be € 80 plus shipping at MOQ 150.
CandyKeys will also handle the proxies for US and Asia.
I'll be posting a poll soon, here on DT and reddit, to check wheter the price is ok to the customers.
Eventually, to reduce the price, one option is to drop one colourway from the set and include it in a future second round along with a different scheme.

I'd appreciate if any korean speaker could spread the news in their local communities.

Yes with VAT.

Seems incredibly high.
I guess the R5 keys are responsible for the high price, but I really want them in the set.

i usually add 30% when i get quotes from GMK

10% for contingency and 20% to be split as profit

I'd take off the set the A-Profile keys, while they are nice, they are also redundant with B's.

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for being so symphathetic with me at my first IC/GB experience. I clearly lack organization skills and I appreciate you bearing with me.

As for the profile-A, I truly when them to be included because they are the natural bottom row to me. I'm setting up a Google form to gather a few inputs and I'll put it online as soon as I'm ready.

Price without VAT for those of us non-EU types?

I've asked GMK to provide a quote for each single colorway alone. That should reduce the price and allow customers not to buy unwanted keys.
Also, I've been informed that there will be a slight price reduction for they are paying for the tooling.

I asked GMK quotes for single colour schemes alone and received those.
I'm discussing details with David from CandyKeys (to whom I'm grateful for handling this).

Long story short, there's no interest in this addon and the GB won't be run.
