So thanks to William's passion for 40% boards I was easily convinced to grab one of the new 3 piece JD40 boards from 1UP. I went with Gateron Browns, lubed, 67g springs, stickered, and zealencios. Added some aluminum feet, orange LED's, and foam inside as well. Cool board. I'm still playing with getting the layers configured in a way that makes sense to me.

Thanks OfTheWild, it's a beautiful build. I still haven't built my green kit. I've definitely got to set aside some time to build mine. Again, beautiful setup!

A new one. I name it YDP40. The pics below are with a prototype Acrylic case.
I am still waiting for my keycaps. Later I will add more photos about Aluminum sandwich case and Aluminum CNC case.

Love the multi-layered case. Would  you possibly be making some in an MIT layout?

I thought QMX clips only worked on plateless boards.

I had no problems getting the clips from the zealencios to work on there. The plate does have cutouts for switch top removal i'm guessing but these snap in the sides not the front like the QMX.

I just checked, I guess the Zeal ones are designed to be used with plates.

They're designed to work on both.

I should've worded that differently, I wasn't trying to say that they only work with plates.

Wow. Honeywell is timelessly classy, and doubly so on a blocked JD. Beautiful stuff, man. Good luck in your search for the red 1yooze—the struggle is real for 40% keysets.

(I'll plan to spam this thread heavily as soon as my JD45 gets here.)

The AMJ40 can do an ortho/matrix layout with all 1u keys in the lower right. So almost like a Planck, but it's another option.

I checked and it seems that it's different sized. between 1.25u and 1u? I know I'm being nitpicky, but that's just the way I am lol

as for now minivan is the only one that fits my criteria.. except I have to saved up a bit. currently coping up with vortex core instead

Tried the SA Ashen on the JD45. These caps definitely make the stupid Gat reds seem more tolerable than they were with DSA. Must replace these switches.

MaxKeys SA Ashen seems really nice.

They're fantastic. Not brilliant coverage for most of my boards, but they can be shoehorned in. Not brilliant legends/novelties, either, but small potatoes.

How do you like SA? Curious to give it a go on my MiniVan

I like them better on the JD than on anything else by a large margin. (In fact, I didn't really like them at all on the Preonic.) I think I don't really love SA R1, and you only need 2-3-4-3 for the JD, and it feels just right to me. I'm glad I tried it; I almost didn't.

I think eventually you need to own one of each 40% keyboard =) I aim to own a minivan and JD45 eventually too. I'm sure more are on the horizon. I've already got my eye on the mechmini 2 which will probably be my first ortho.
