Yes, it is based off of the HHKB, with a few modifications specifically suited for coding. What do you think?

What's the point of increasing the left mods by 0.25u and changing the right shift split?

The bottom row is fine but the other changes will just make finding keysets hard.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

^ yeah, unless you're planning on using a custom array of blank DSA keys, you're going to have a lot of issues finding caps

a suggestion to maintain keycap compatibility would be to perhaps start with the hhkb layout, and just use a split right shift (like ISO, but with the shift on the left of the split) and a split spacebar

Yeah, I would go with this one for sure. The original layout would be such a hassle in the long run.

  After a good night's sleep, I agree with you on the left mods, but I need that 1.25u right Fn button.
