Screwless seamless 75% keyboard
by Gone Hacking Studio
est. Australia 2020

Gone Hacking Studio is composed of three keyboard enthusiasts that share the same passion
and commitment towards the hobby. Everything started with a vision and an aspiration to be
able to provide a design that we know works, and all of us agreed that 75% is the layout that
we wanted to work with.

Our main case designer is RonDG, who really has an eye for classics. Being able to have that
experience of designing for yourself was really his main strength in the group. Our firmware
and PCB designer, SamBuddy with a background in electronics and computer engineering.
And finally, 19thmech, the project leader of GHS, and the person responsible for always making
sure we’re all on the same page and everything with the timeline is up to date.

Inspired by the Cherry G80-1800 but with a modern twist. It’s a minimalistic approach to a
timeless classic design. Our aim is to be able to design bespoke mechanical keyboards
without compromising quality.

The exposed section provides contrast between the weight and the case.

We believe silver and black are colors you can never go wrong with.
They can go with everything!

The plate is burger-mounted with o-rings on either side of the plate. Half plate and silicone
dampener is also available.

what screw size is used to mount the bottom weight?
can the USB port be more flush? it might not fit standard custom cables
I'm slightly concerned with the mounting point on the bottom row 2nd from the left. The positioning is quite close to the stabiliser housing making for a very stiff bottom out.

There is a lot of marketing words here and I would have preferred a more straight-forward IC. That said, it is very clear time and effort was put into this.
Personally, I can't justify the price point and I'm not a fan of the layout, but I'm sure others will enjoy this - glwic!

- 8x M2x6

- USB C via daughterboard has slots that enable it to slide back and forth. Despite its position on our photos, over 20x assorted cables from generic to custom ones have been tested on the unit.

- This was actually a subject on our first plate design. what you are seeing now (carbon fiber plates for reference) is our rev 2 plate. considering the sound/feel and spacing for the mounting points was the decision we made for the current plate decision. We realized that the initial revision was a bit stiff on the spacebar. We had no issues with the current plate revision as per sound tests on RAR2, RA4, and RAR5. Our upcoming video will show a build of our 7th prototype which I hope can provide more confidence about the design. On top of this, we are sending a few boards to various stream builders to assess.

For me, it's the lines of the board. Something about it looks classic/timeless. It's chunky but not stupid chunky like a lot of boards that go this route. It looks somehow modern and vintage at the same time. The subtle line on the left and right although seemless. The slope down in the front. I love it. Also, Top mount 1/2 plate. No crazy new mounting. Just a tried and true method. And thank god there is no cliche empty space for a generic star or moon or circle or raindrop or knob or micro screen to tell me the time. All gimmicks and bad designs left aside for keys! The things we use

Speaking of, they are properly seated down into the case so that we don't see the switches peeking out. I can't believe it's almost 2021 and some big designers still don't realize this mistake. Subtle logo hidden from the user. Love pretty much everything about it.

I cannot agree on that. There's a big difference between making a classy / minimallistic / toned down design and something generic. And on top of that I wouldn't call this board that minimallistic either - it has distinguished character coming from the sculpt and it's geometry.

Absolutely love it, despite having 4 keys column on right edge (I personally prefer 3 keys there). Well, then, most probably I won't even attempt to get it with pool so limited. Best of luck either way, and keep it going!

It's a 75% that looks to take design elements from the G80-1800. I think it does that pretty well.

Personally I'm not a fan of split arrow cluster on a 75% but I'm sure there are people who like this design and also appreciate not having another 75% with a knob shoved down their throat.

I know right, It's been a journey so far and the most frustrating bits are those we don't have control with ex logistics etc. I personally want to make sure that our Prototype and design, to begin with, is 100% which is to be expected on the production units.

At this stage 6.25 and 7u for bottom row. A universal plate file will be available on launch and pcb revisions (layout) in the future.

Any chance there will be hotswap sockets? I have an aversion to soldering. As in I've never done it. Really a great looking keyboard though.

Pay someone to holtite it ... that's literally the hotswap solution to virtually every single kb gb (bar a few that it's not doable).

Hey, apologies for the late response. Unfortunately due to the layout we have decided that we will not have a hotswap version for the GHS.RAR however future designs with different layouts will definitely have a hotswap option
