Can someone summarize the differences between "The Cheats" and the "TypeNow"?  Is it just one is a kit?

English please.

The case of the "TypeNow" is lot nicer, and more refined, and has an elevated construction.

Also the feet are removable.

http://www.kbdmania.net/xe/1739458

However "The Cheats" has a customizable firmware.

Actually its about the entire opposite. CMA (Copy my Ass aka the Cheat) is a hand-worked case with little to no flaws, while the TypeNowSolid is a mass produced unit with rough "scratches" even on the first batch of picitures.

I think both are very nice keyboards, though I would pick the CMA any day. Programmable and I prefer the colors. Not to mention the price is much lower too.

Alright, I'll chime in.

The Typenow is a custom keyboard created by Kant from KBDMania forums which is affiliated or owned by IOmania as well. So the IOmania TypeNow keyboard is their first in house custom keyboard. You could say that the Ddokyu keyboard is the root of all these custom keyboards which was the top dog of custom keyboards (still highly sought after and rare I might add.)

The Cheats is a custom keyboard created by users on OTD forums as you may all know. It was a custom kit group buy deal.

Both keyboards are created separately and are not related to each other in any way as far as I know. I will say this though, there was a break out awhile ago between KBDmania and OTD regarding group buys and such and resulted in a whole mess.

I might offer my help for translating all the stuff properly once I get in contact with Kant, but I won't have time until end of next week. It pains me to see a horrible translation influencing the image of such a high quality keyboard. :P

Is the typenow solid the reason for the mess your talking about?  I read that part of the reason OTD is so shy with information is they had some designs and whatnot stolen or copied?

This may be where aming and I take the next group buy if we can get enough interest...

But there will need to be some serious discussion first.

People have tried, the main problem is all the bickering that usually starts in the thread afterwords and then the person who is trying to get it going just gives up.  The other problm is the complexity of doing a keyboard like this, you have to source a ridiculous amount of stuff (PCB, Controller, keys, stabilizers, design, milling).  The best way to go about something like this in my opinion would be to get about 50 dedicated people who agree on what they want and who will be in it until the board is finished even if it takes a year and dont mind spending the extra coin.  I just dont think thats going to happen although I would be up for it.

The way I see it, the only option at this point for a board like this for me is the typenow solid which im really not a fan of =( as getting one of the 356 boards or even one of these "the cheats" just doesnt seem plausible.

I disagree. The problem is the capital needed up front (typically $5,000+) to fund the damn thing!

I was working with the Leopold designer before trying to make a tenkeyless rebranded Leopold with clears for the GH community. I decided against doing it in the end, but if anyone is interested to take something like that on, I can put you in touch with Archisite. Just let me know. Like I said though, you're probably looking at spending about $5k up front for production.

KL, Im not talking about a rebranded leo or filco.  I want something completely custom.  And the upfront capitol would come from the 50 or so dedicated people who would be in it to win it lol, everyone puts in 100$ to start blah blah something like that.  It was just an opinion and I even stated that it probly wouldnt work eithor.  A rebranded board isnt easy to do eithor but one of these completely custom boards is just a whole nother animal.

You should come on IRC and chat with me, Im on now

Nothing is happening, the CMA "The Cheats" keyboard was just posted here as showing us the new Korean custom they are doing which we have no chance at acquiring until they put it on Ebay which may happen later this year (Cant stress MIGHT enough).  Typenow Solid is the only option available to us and it is very overpriced, Hamblet posted some pics that were deleted and it is pretty much a Leopold(Same PCB, Controller, Stabilizers, Keys)  with a nice aluminum body.

.. Hamblet called them "Wyse Stabilizers" for some weird reason..

I do not have any wEiRd reason. It is a simple logical conclusion from experience.

Have you ever seen any Cherry original MX_switched keyboard which has Cherry's "with Frame Stabil" ?  In my experience, No No No.

If you have any WYSE keyboard, chek it out. All WYSE that I have ever seen have that "with Frame Stabil". So I have no choice, I called it as "WYSE Stabil".

And, from local Leopold's Ads and Kant who is selling TypoNowSolid confirmed somewherelse that "that Stabil" is imported from Cherry Germany.

I do not know what is updated or not. But, what I clearly know is that all the comments of mine are gone forever. Therefore, at least, for me, it looks like a censorship. Censorship is very interesting issue but feels boring at the same time.

- I call this keyboard as TypoNowSolid. If you see their AD in English above mentioned link, you do not need any more explanation about it.

- Actually, thier AD in their own mother****ng mother tongue is way worse than English version. It is a horrible horrible garbage.

- But, there are more to come. It is a real shame for real. An ugly local keyboard forum OhTheDirity announced a board called "The Cheat". But, I think TypoNowSolid is the keyboard that should be titled under that name. Because, TypoNowSolid is cheating their customers. They said it will be a "Flagship keyboard" but,I saw "Frog**** keyboard" here. TypoNowSolid's PCB is identical twins to Leopold FC 200RT. In my opinion, FC 200RT is not a top class keyboard. It is a plain board. Actually, it has a low calss cheap phenolic resins in it. Funny. All you can have is just a nice CNC cut alu-casing. Nothing else. Yes, the casing itself is worthwhile for spend that big money. Good choice, because there will be no more alu-casing boards any more.

RiGS and PandaR are thinking of buying it and will hopefully do a review.

If I buy it, I will definitely do a review on it. However those cherry stabilizers and the price tag are still holding me back.
This keyboard is basically a tenkeyless version of my SS in a metal case, which is made by Datacomp as well.
I positively like the case design of the TypeNow Solid.
However even the plastic case of the cheap Steelseries withstood a truck abuse, and as sixty pointed out the aluminium case easily scratches.

I think it is not worth having a nicely carved, but cold and extra heavy metal case, especially for a portable tenkeyless keyboard.

There is still one up, I am still considering buying one aswell.  What other chance will we have at a full alluminum housing keyboard?  I just cant see the koreans putting any of those cheats on Ebay as I would buy one of those without thinking twice as you can just tell that they were made by people who love keyboards and not by people who love money.

The Cheat is in extremely high demand, as soon as one shows up in the market section it's snatched up within minutes. Literally.
Dozens of WTB threads but nobody is really selling them. I do enjoy all the pics that are being uploaded though since it's been distributed a few days ago.
I wish I was in Korea when the group buy happened. :(

The SP keycaps with the teal/aqua color fonts are also quite popular (personally not my thing, I prefer beige/white cherry corps) as well.

This it the main reason that I asked you about this forum's updating. This is not an updating. This is a censorship. WHY this forum deleted all the records that I worte in that 2days ? Remember ? I gave you all the detail information about the f**King Leopold keyboard models, their model naming secrets and including exct (brief) histories.

Ripster, you are overestimating Leopold. What do you want from them ? Just let them go. They are stupid. Do not bewildered by their model naming rules. They have their ways of cheating.

FC 300R and FC 500R are exactly same model. The ONLY, SOLE and SINGLE differece is keycap's letters. Former has English/Local, the other has only your language. THAT IS ALL.

If you want some more intellectual or reasonable reasons from Leopold for changing moldel numbers in two hundreds, I told you, you are  overestimating them.

The OP keys are Cherry Doubleshots I think.  ABS.
These are the interesting ones.  These are Signature Plastics.  Recognize the ugly font and wimpy arrow keys anywhere.

You are right. ABS.
You are right again. SP.
You are right again and again. The Ugly font and wimpy (what is that my local dictionay does not know the meaning, but I guessing a kind of dumbassness).
Every and all local asshats are worshipping those idiot keytops. Sorrawalle keytops, Ddddochu imitation keytops etc..

..  not trying to troll Hamblet but it seems like he hates every keyboard on the planet, so far hes mentioned diatec, leo, OTD customs, and iomania as companies he doesnt like.

As far as I remember, I gave all the reasons why I hate the f**King Leopold, OhTheDirty, TypoNowSolid as companies and as products.

And, I do not remember. Did I mentioned Diatec in this stupid Keyboard/Forum/Company listings ??  I (guess) do not think so. I do not love Diatec but, as far as I know they did not give me any bull****.

For example I learned a LOT about stabilizers and Datacomp from this thread.

That informations are all gone forever. And, I do not want to type it again in this forum.
