Did anyone tried these tool?

I have an pair of pliers (similar to mk.com ones), but it takes long to open one switch..
Wondering if these are easier to use

I have one and it works great, especially if you're trying to modify a bunch of switches in the least amount of time possible.

This week or next. I'm prototyping a GH-122 case for the 2017 builds, and will add this to my first order for that.

I bought one a year or two ago, and it worked good for me.
There's already a old thread about it somewhere.

Just be careful. Someone (sorry I can't remember who) was saying that they can damage the little plastic clip/tabs on the switches. Although, none of mine were damaged.

I eventually just went back to using my metal Beast tools.

I did a bunch of springs with my Beast tools, and after a while...

Anyhow, I'm interested in this design, so I just ordered one from Shapeways. I'll advise on how I like it once it gets here and I give it a good run.

do you push the switch bottom end first into it and catch the top housing as it pops off? seems awkward to use.

Yeah, that's how it works.

If someone had some made out of better materials I would probably use mine more.

they are used from the bottom side!?
I thought they would clip in from the top (like the mk.com tools.........)

Yes, this tool is designed to open the switch from the bottom.
You place the switch on top of it like in my picture.

Then it isnt that useful for me.
hopefully someone will produce something similar, but aith use from the top (so while switches soldered in)

Just like pressing down a pair of Beast tools with perfect synchronization.

Mine is on order; I'll fiddle around with that useage as a goal.

Just tried with my Beast tools -- how could that work? They come up from underneath the tangs.

(I admit I do not mod switches in place, so maybe I am just missing something obvious.)

It seems like a good design and could be pretty easy to make from any number of square pipe/tube and some ingenuity. i remember someone making a tool from a binder clip. I think it was on Youtube i saw it?

Haha tiny flathead screwdriver or plastic pry tool will do just fine in a mounted switch. Never had one break, even RGB tops (bought extra JIC and not needed). You can get said screwdriver set at any dollar store.

If someone had some of these made out of aluminum I'd definitely get one.

It be a lot smoother if it were made out of aluminum.
One of the only gripes I have with the one from shapeways is that it's that rough 3D printer material.

Zeal had one made from metal as well as plastic; both from Shapeways.
You should probably ask him about the difference.
