There seem to be quite a number of Ikari fans here, so: Is the optical (non-laser) version okay or do I need the laser? I'm looking for a medium-priced mouse for my secondary computer and for extended gaming sessions with friends. At the moment, I'm using a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2, which is a nice mouse for surfing and office tasks (it's even okay for gaming), but its comparatively heavy weight just kills me after several hours of nonstop gaming (which, luckily, doesn't happen very often--but even 4 or 5 times of 10 hour gaming per year justify getting a new mouse. I'd also like to have a spare mouse when the batteries die and I don't have any new ones handy (which also doesn't happen very often, but is extremely unnerving when it does).
So: Is the Steelseries Ikari Optical any good or should I get the laser version? What other mice can you recommend? I also took a look at Logitech's RX1500 which features the best scroll wheel I've ever used. Any recommendations or experience with either of these mice or alternative suggestions?
