More t-shirts
« on: Wed, 08 May 2013, 21:19:38 »
So I need some help.  I would like to have some different klaxon shirts made up, but I am a mega fail at anything that could be considered graphic design.

T-shirt front 1:
I would like it to be this:

But I only want a vector of the phrase and crown so that it can be printed on different color shirts, like orange for an Orange Crush Madness lookalike, red for a White on Red replica, red lettering on a white shirt for a red on white replica and on a gray shirt for a Red on gray replica.

T-shirt front 2:

I just want this to not look like poop

while integrating an outline of the siren from this

as the background layer

T-shirt back:

I want this:

and instead of keyboard enthusiasts, I'd like it to say keyboard and klaxon enthusiasts.

Centered above that, I'd like a scaled outlined version of

Thanks preemptively for any and all help that comes my way

That KKK. I love it. BUT I would never wear it considering some inconsiderate jerks ruined the triple K.

Maybe just do Keep Calm and Klaxon?

That's why it's KK&K.  But if enough people feel it's not clear enough, obviously I'll fix my mistake.

People have a hard time moving on and find reasons to be sensitive. Although I may be wrong and its ok but I would stick with KC&K.

I apologize in advance for being clueless, but what is this "klaxon" thing all about ?

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

This thread's Klaxon number is 1.

And I'd also like to see KC&K.

Somebody has to be able to vector this so some shirts can be made, right?
At least send tjcaustin a message if you have questions or want to talk about the design ;).

I will be placing a vectorized version of the classic 'Keep Calm and Carry On' in the wiki.

EDIT: I keep getting a 'detected MIME type error, even when changing the file name from: something.eps to something.eps.jpg -- even if I change to something.jpg, the MediaWiki software detects that I'm trying to fool it. Checking the 'ignore errors' doesn't help either.

The file attached to this post will seem to be non-viewable -- download it instead, and change the extension from .jpg to .eps and then open in Illustrator and have at it. That's the vectorized (scalable to any size) artwork for 'Keep Calm and Carry On'. The font used is Gill Sans with what appears to be a white stroke to make it a bit bolder.

I seem to get tentative stares and statements for KK&K so let's do KC&K.  Will/do I owe you anything for your time?  (This is not a problem, you deserve compensation for work done)

Can someone explain to me the origin of the 'this X's Klaxon value/number is ...'?
I thought it might be fun to put an asterisk over the word klaxon, and on the back of the shirt, like a footnote, say, "This shirt's Klaxon number is 1."

One does not simply get "told" about the Klaxon number. It is a long and involved education process. I had an internship at Klaxco in order to fully understand and appreciate the Klaxon number.

It's a reference to what page a thread inevitably received a klaxon reference as I was particularly ...enthusiastic about klaxon right when it ended.

That's why I want that second shirt design to be "This shirt's Klaxon number is X (x is individual number to make shirts more awesome)"

Right. Socialism/communism/collectivism only results in millions dying in horror when it is actually put in practice.
Other than that it's positively lyrical: "From each according to their gifts, to each according to their needs."
I completely agree that the principle is poetic, but it's a poetry that produces misery and carnage, so let it remain theoretical.  :D

Ok, question for you -- for the shirt featuring the 'Angry, Angry Klaxons' logo, do you want the klaxon creature alone, or with the text? And when you said 'as a background image' in the original post, did you mean as a kind of watermark, or just the image itself?

Have you poked...?

You could just take the image and background erase it in PS.

I thought of that also, but figured due to the gradient that it may be easier to ask her.

I'm liking the Keep Calm t-shirt, I'd be interested in buying one.

The other issue is the final cost of the t-shirt itself. The Klax-creature has got shading, so including it with shading would increase the cost of the shirt. If it could be made to be a single color, that would bring down the cost quite a bit. Here's a low-res image of what I've got so far. The text for the back is the font used for the GH retro logo.

If it doesn't look right, it doesn't look right and can be cut fairly easily.  Also, I think I'd rather have the klaxon number be its own shirt and to just do the smaller geekhack logo up high across the back on both.

Thanks again for the time you've put in, krog, I really appreciate it.

But I do like the font of the klaxon number side, I just think it might serve to be a bit bigger to fill more of the shirt.

I'm working on the revisions. Some more questions.

1. If you want to do the full Klax-creature (shading and everything), would you want it on a white background, or a red? I figure on white the red in Klaxie (that's her name now) would stand out. Would that work for you, designwise? Either way I will bring the Klaxie up to the (rough) actual size on a shirt and see if she degrades (and by how much). If she degrades too much, may moonprismprincess can remake her? We can lay it out first anyway to see how she looks.

2. When you say you would like the number on the 'This shirt...' design to be larger, how much larger are we talking? Like, the size on a numbered athletic jersey? That kind of size? 50% larger than it is now? Give me a rough idea. Also, what did you think about the placement of the text? It's not as 'stacked' as in your original version, and there's a colon with 'is' -- does that still capture the spirit of Klax? When I envision this attitude, I picture 'Animal House' food fight, whilst someone announces (blithely) over a PA system, "This food fight's klaxon number is: (dramatic pause) '1'"
Also, the numeral '1' on the shirt is I think Times New Roman -- the font for the text (same as in the Retro GH logo) the numeral '1' looks more like a vertical pipe, so I changed it.

3. The GH logo on top -- I'm going to do two versions -- one with the keycaps behind the logo, and one without. Again, because it would impact the price. Without the keycaps you will get a much lower price.

This may be easier to do via IRC, since you could get real time feedback. The shirts do look nice though Krogenar! 10/10 want.
