Amperage for keyboards

How many amps do keyboards draw?

I'm attempting to sleeve my own cables, but I noticed that some USB cables max out at 500 mA, while some go up to 1.5A. Will this make any difference? As well, can I replace a standard mini-usb connector with a micro-usb connector? I noticed that most mini-usb cables for phones are much thinner than micro-usb cables, so I figured they'd be easier to sleeve. On another note, does anyone know why mini-usb cables are thinner than micro-usb cables.

The USB spec allows up to 500mA per device.  It allows up to 1A draw per bus.  The 3.0 expanded this under certain conditions to allow even more power to be transferred for charging.  If you are working for keyboards, 500mA is enough.
