[IC] Mill-Max Sockets (7305)
« on: Fri, 03 August 2018, 10:32:46 »
Hey all, I don't really use GH all that often so forgive my formatting if it's off. I'm pxlnght on Reddit btw. I have several confirmed trades on mechmarket if you're leery about my short GH history.

Reddit link: https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/949oct/ic_millmax_sockets/

I'm looking to run a GB for Mill-Max Sockets, the 7305 variant. I was planning on using the 0305 variant, however it seems they're known for causing issues with stablizers not returning.

Copy paste of the Reddit post:

I want some Mill-Max sockets for an upcoming build, and there are some significant price breaks for higher order quantities. I don't like holtites because of their friction based 'locking' mechanism. These, you solder to the board. They're sure as heck not going anywhere. You'll need two per switch.

Product Link: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=7305&keywords=7305-0-15-15-47-27-10-0&pkeyword=7305&v=

Pricing guide: See link. Make sure you've viewing in USD.

Proposed Rules:

- Total MOQ will be 1,000 sockets. This is just to keep the price reasonable. We should be able to hit this pretty easily.
- I'll be invoicing based on the order quantity, rounded up the the nearest whole cent. So, 1,000 total sockets would be $0.25 per socket, 2,500 sockets would be $0.22 per socket. I'm currently contacting digikey for an extended MOQ list, beyond 2,500, just in case we get that far.
- Order quantities must be in increments of 10.
- MOQ per order is 50 sockets.
- Shipping CONUS is $5 dollars per order, regardless of quantity. (Shipped first class, but I also need to grab some bubble mailers and baggies).
- No international shipping will be offered, sorry lads.

This will be my first GB, so if there's something I'm missing please let me know!

arrow.com is having 30% off sale with free overnight for new users until Monday.
And they are cheaper than digikey to begin with.

Not sure if you’d have the answer to this since you don’t have them yet but how would these compare durability-wise to Kailh hotswap sockets?

I haven't used these, but I am not a fan of the Kailh sockets as the contacts can stretch open after a bunch of swaps. I would imagine these would be more durable than the Kailh sockets. These are basically holtites in a sleeve.

However, between these and the Kailh sockets there's really no point in comparison because a PCB will support only one or the other. It's not like you can choose which to use on whatever PCB you have.

Ah geeze... Might have to significantly speed up my timeline, in this case. Thanks for the info, I'm going to chat w/ the mods on /r/mm and see if I can bypass the 48hr rule for posting... Does GH have a post limit on GB/IC threads? I'm still pretty new here and I don't want to step on any toes.

Is this the alternative option for Holtite? I'm new to this field.

Have you done any measurements to confirm these will fit into any holtite-compatible board?

Hey, I started another GB for these: https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/a1heqs/gb_mill_max_sockets/
We're nearly there, just a few hundred sockets to go.
