Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce a Matcha-themed medium weight linear switch -- FEI Switch.

Key Features

1. Matcha-theme
2. The spring weight of 55g starting and 62g bottom out. It is slightly lighter than gon62.
3. Similar feel as "FF Yellow", "Punchy" linear switches, C3 tangerines, and close to Tealios, particularly in terms of silky smoothness of the stems.
4. Designed by "Chouyu".
5. Manufactured by Gateron.

206442-0

Payment has been made to Gateron and production can start as soon as we finalize the options. We are gathering feedback on the final color and options, and we would like to hear from you.

The price is estimated to be $0.4 per pcs or less.

Update: Chouyu has decided on Option 1. Currently, she is sending some switches to friends. Geekhack GB is forthcoming. Will update if I hear anything. Latest what I heard is that she will hire a person to pack and ship all packages directly from China, and is checking on the best courier options.

Will probably purchase, because all linear all day.

But. Could you give some details as to the switch itself? Given its gateron and you mention punchy specifically I'd tend to presume it's in fact identical to a punchy with a recolour (and perhaps a different spring), I presume none of the molding has been created specifically for this switch?

Curious to try either way.

I'm think I will buy this instead of Tealios because it's much cheaper.
1. So this matcha switch is similar to c3 tangerine.. I don't know how smooth c3 tangerine switch is but is it smoother than tealios?
2.  Is the spring of this switch same as normal gateron ones?

Haven't done a test myself, but Tealios are really smooth.
I think this FEI is similar to Tangerines

Matcha - a type of powdered green tea
FF Yellow - this is literally the only thing I could find: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/8xxxft/ff_yellow_switches/
Punchy - word to describe switch feel, probably means the switches have a quick snap-back after keypress? No clue

Would also appreciate more info on the above

Punchys are switches you can buy on Taobao. They can be tactile or linear with weights 62g or 67g. They are too made by Gateron.

I got both types of tangerines, but I much prefer the feel and sound of the black base/clear top variety.  I guess the green base, clear top on these would be similar?

Depends on if they are made of the same materials or not. Those milky Gateron housings have always been scratchy imo and the black bottom bases have never done me wrong.

The green bottom looks amazing but at the end of the day they’re completely unable to be seen unless it’s a plateless.

So whatever feels best is most important imo.

Green bottom milky top should feel and sound best (based on testing all the other gats, and best being subjective of course on the sound), I'd be curious to know if the green base is a recolour of the black base mold or the clear/milky however as that will certainly effect the feel.

As far as I know, no one here has tested them.  They should be very similar to tangerines, but we'll have to find out what the bottom is made from before we can assume exactly how similar.

New to this IC, just filled out the poll link, I hope that option 2 becomes the final production. I know this will look great in a 40 to 50% MKB, so I plan to maybe get 60 or more; after all, it’s always great to have extras!

Hm, I'm liking all these weird colored linears coming out.

I never expected linears to get so much love.

These'd be a 100% drop in necessity to my GMK Camping / Sage M60-A (Which currently has some boring BOX Blacks)

those look interesting. any guesses on how wobbly these would be?

Gaterons are known for being wobbly, so probably wobbly enough.

For some reason, I got the impression that this switch is just a C3 tangerines just in a different color. I have no idea where I got that though.

Just to be clear, I am not saying that the C3 Tangerines are bad. I actually like the switch and I am using it currently at work.
I am also in if for this.  ;D

Please go with milky tops. Super sick of clear on every switch.

I think the opaque tops would go very well with the green housing since it does give some resemblance of the tea :p

Quick update:

The batch of 30k (10k for private GB, 20k for Geekhack GB) switches have arrived with chouyu. Chouyu is doing a private GB right now, she will follow up with me on International GB.

Most likely she will collect payment and ship on her own. But if there is a reasonable vendor who wants to help out please kindly reply and let me know. This is supposed to be a not-for-profit (or, tiny-profit to cover expenses) GB, so please bear that in mind if you want to help out ...

but does this one have any merit compared to tealios or tangeriens?

As far as I know, no one here has tested them.  They should be very similar to tangerines, but we'll have to find out what the bottom is made from before we can assume exactly how similar.

I am buying 180 from chouyu. If it is delivered before the GB starts, I can compare it with Tealios, Retooled blacks, and Tangerines.

I'm super excited to get my hands on them! Glad that option 1 was the winner, that was what I voted for. Would like to compare these to Creamy switches and V2 Creams.

As somebody who's tried both, I actually prefer the Creamy switches, both in colour (67g purple) and in feel, especially because these come with switch stickers, which help to reduce wobble.

I think Playkeyboards was the only one that was selling them with switch stickers, and you had to buy either 90 or 110. I'm almost entirely a 65% user, so the extra is kinda useless, sadly.

those look interesting. any guesses on how wobbly these would be?

Gaterons are known for being wobbly, so probably wobbly enough.

If you buy both Gateron and Cherry in 2018, you'll find that they basically wobble the same, Cherry maybe even a bit more.

Possibly? I mean that's just my opinion based on the switches that I own. You are welcome to disagree, but usually it helps to be constructive instead of just criticizing.

Hi, here is chouyu, the private GB is over, and Geekhack GB will be started in the near future. After I talked with oldcat, thouth we believe that it was the best way for me to send the package to everyone. Package 1 is tentatively set to 100, and package 2 is tentatively set to 200, until 20,000 switches are sold out. The price is $0.40 for a switch and 5% for the handling fee, and the shipping cost is still not certain.

Secondly, @oldcat is the GH gb going to happen after you receive the private GB orders?

For GB timeline, yes it is going to happen in the next few days yes! And they will be shipped out right after GB ends as Chouyu already paid for the lot.

My switches are en route to US, probably going to take a week for them to arrive. When I receive them I will compare them with Tangerines and Tealios.

I bought 210 myself, no free samples :) For those who asked me for free samples, I have to respectfully say sorry... I hope I could but IMO Chouyu is not doing this for a profit so we should not make her lose money.
