Title: Soldering on top of pcb possible?
Post by: Solastice on Sat, 30 July 2022, 15:35:25
Restoring a vintage board and I somehow screwed up the microcontroller :-[

Possible to just hand solder wires and diodes to existing solder pads and hook them up to a pro micro instead? Or do I have to worry about the 5v from the pro mico Interacting with the surface components of the pcb?

Pretty much...

Neither the stock controller or the Pro Micro pass 5v to the switches.
You can just connect the signal lines from the controller to the switch traces, even right at the old controller.
