Keep in mind - this is a new color with the factory, it can turn out as good as the render, or it could turn out better or worse. Please know by playing an order / switching the color, you accept this - and you will not be able to return/refund/exchange your unit.

is the brass weight a brass plate? I am curious to how a brass weight would work with this! That gunmetal looks nice. I am still so on the fence. I want Cyan, Gunmetal now, Red, Emerald and Dark Purple.. Perhaps if I play the lotto this week I can just win that... then won't have to choose :p

It's not until you put it into sunlight, with the suns golden hue - that it introduces the SLIGHTEST tinge of orange. But I think that's due mostly to the anodizing having a sort of sparkle/sheen underneath it.

this might be a silly question but the PCB's are coming ready to use right? We just gotta solder on the switches/leds and we are good to go?Everything was done via SMT at the factory. PCB's are plug and play ready and the only soldering required is of your switches =)

Also I narrowed down what case I am going to get. I am just waiting on money now!!! Glad to see MOQ is doing so well thought. I am super hyped for this build and even more hyped knowing the designer of Pearl helped with it. I loved he 40% they did just yea.. 40% is not for me.

I think Cherry Makes them.. yea Black.. Stems Black housing... can't get much more tactical... thought we could make the housing of the switch out of Kevlar maybe? Then we could add some silencing to them... o wait Cherry Silent Blacks... hmm! you know more thinking about this Cherry missed the boat.. could have totally marketed silent blacks as Tactical switches... charged a fortune :P... but yea my bad! haha thinking want to go one PCB with Silent blacks and the other with Clear's. I had a set of clear's on a Pok3r and hated the board.. and ended up hating the switches so I kinda like to revisit them. Also I already have like 3 board's sporting box blacks so I wanted something different "chuckles"

do you have an idea of the weight of the brass vs standard plate?I do not have the weight of the brass. And if you get the extra plate/pcb - it's not a hot swap, because you will have to unplug it from your desktop/laptop in order to unscrew the polycarb base, and the old pcb/plate before screwing in the new.

However, all you need is a philips head screw driver in order to screw it together, or disassemble.

Both are possible. Dave's assembled one with the 3x 1u keys, and the PCB runs QMK so you can reprogam any key to basically anything you want.

Keycap sets I regularly switch between:
Laser (will be added to rotation), Nautilus, Pulse, Skeletor, The Bro Set, and Troubled Minds.
Case Colors:
Purple - Leaning this way. Due to visualizing with the above sets it might add too much purple to most of them though.
Royal Blue - Tempting, but might conflict too much with most sets listed above... maybe not. I can visualize most of the sets on it in my mind with the case colors, but against the Purple it's a difficult choice.
Black - Best option for key-set variety, but I'm trying to persuade myself to choose a different color, due to everything I own being black and I'm sick of every spec of dust and other debris showing up on it.
Thoughts team?

Honestly, my .02 is that the purple proto looks awesome, not often do I see a purple I really like... so I'd go with that.
I'm putting Godspeed on my board so I'm going with silver, but I have been extremely tempted to get a 2nd... purple or red for some chocalatier :D

Was really thinking that combo too...only hesitation was not seeing a sample of the dark gray outside of the render. Hopeful for a gunmetal/space gray type color...but was worried it might be a “lighter” dark gray.
But should look awesome with the brass plate!

Well I went w/ purple -- I might regret it since purple isn't one of my favorite colors, but ultimately it'll match with TM and I was apprehensive about Dark Grey not having a color sample.

Hmm getting two plates I am thinking one will have a stepped cap's lock cause... I just love the way a stepped cap's lock looks. The only downer is finding keycap sets.. becomes even more limited. Just curious but what color did you go with? I was one of the emerald green's and am so so excited.

That's some serious bs you went thought JMD I am sorry got a little worried wish I would have known. I always figured the prices where locked in once the prototype was done. To know that a company can just raise the prices on ya like that out of the blue is seriously bs. I hope since you don't want to say out in public. That you would let other group buy runners know what happened. That way they can avoid that manufacture! I hope your business comes back online and better then ever soon! I know my confidence has been seriously restored. This will be my second group buy. I noticed suddenly Candykey's, Zfrontier, The Key Company and A few others just suddenly just went quiet.. put messages up saying they where going to be stepping away.. Its been sorta worrying. Wow why don't you just come off as spoiled and entitled a bit. I mean don't get me wrong I understand being mad at a vendor if you can't get something but this is just to far. First off it was a GROUP BUY.. what that means is that it was a group of people going in to buy a product together. Typically when those happen there might be some extra's at the end but there limited. There also a limited time for you to get into the group buy.
Once its over! no one is going to feel any sympathy if you missed it. I mean sure people might post there sorry but genuinely most don't care. They only post such things to raise there karama points on the forum to look like a nice person! Which most are genuinely nice people :thumb:. Just its like Amazon service rep saying there sorry you had a issue. They really don't give 2 flips about your issue. They are only dealing with you for a paycheck.
Second off Superior solution that is kinda comical, cause I mean correct me if i am wrong but the other board your talking about isn't out of production yet? How do you know if its superior or inferior? I mean for the most you know the entire order could be in shambles like the recent Southpaw buy! Which you gotta feel bad for that runner! I mean dang.
So that just comes off as speculation by someone not getting there way.
I also wanted to point out you make it sound like JMD is making a profit which.. if you read the thread you know is not even close to the case. JMD was pretty transparent about some of the issues he faced. including having to sink thousands of dollars from his own pocket into the product to get it produced. I am sure after the units ship he will have some left overs. That he will most likely sell on his site. Point is he not making any profit he just trying to recoup some of the money he spent at this point.
So next time try to be a bit more understanding otherwise go to Amazon one of there customer care reps sure would just dolt all over you.
One other point noticed 90% of groupbuy's WILL NOT do slot transfers! .. there are the rare ones that will but most refuse.

The PCB's, plates, and poly carb bases are all 100% completed, we're just waiting for the rest of the cases to wrap up - and then anodizing.

Espectro Update:
This factory has been delaying the production of Espectro and being less than communicative. I spoke with them a couple days ago, and the relocation apparently did not happen as quickly/smoothly as expected.
I'm going to be on the phone with them again next week to get some final answers as to why they are dragging this out for us. If we can't get these darn things done in a timely manner then I will be switching to a new factory. The unfortunate part about that is it will be more expensive(you guys don't have to worry about that) and yes, more damn waiting and I know it's killing you all. Trust me when I say it's killing me 100x more. I want this done, I want it in your hands.
However, dealings with this factory have been less than pleasant since the get go - I should have used option #2 when they jacked the production costs up on me.
Thanks for your guys understanding, my apologies this isn't going over smoothly - I've never had a GB go this sour in my near 2 years of being a business and I was dreading the day this happened.

have there been any updates on how the talk with the factory went? How are people feeling about the buy in general? I never been in a buy that has had difficulty's and wonder what other peoples feels are/were.

As of today July 16th I have some very unfortunate news.
The factory responsible for espectro has continued ghosting. I am left with no other choice but to begin the refund process.
Please note, this is important.
Total customer orders for this group buy were approx 34k CAD.
I spent an extra 5k CAD at the time of order because the factory stated production was to cost more. I also prepaid some shipping at their request for the tune of 1500.
Now I am just a small vendor. This was my only business and income and yes I understand the risks and I understand that if things go south I need to make sure to handle them.
I do not have this full 34k but I have already begun the process of liquidating every one of my assets in order to raise funds for this. To help raise more funding the prototype will be listed on eBay.
This process is going to take me a while as I will have to work another job/business to earn the money to pay everyone back. In total I will be out over 40 grand but I am confident I can make this happen I’m just unsure how fast.
I will begin refunding some orders this week. I will be starting with those of you who ordered first and working my way down the list.
I am so sorry that this happened and that I could not fulfill this group buy. I will be making a sale post on mechmarket to sell the remaining keyboard related assets I have as well I am stocked on some vortex products. Please help me sell those so that I can refund more of you.
The factory I do not have much information about at this time and I have a contact that travelled to Shenzhen and filed police reports and the police have been helping him find the owner of the factory but as of now there no final words on whether or not I will see the money or the keyboards.
I am so sorry. Please, if you can be patient with me while i work towards paying you all back. It is going to take some time.

I didn't get in on this group buy because of other things but it was a great looking concept.
My mechmini2 is absolutely one of my favorite boards and it sucks people won't get to experience its joys of full polycarb bottom translated to full size form.
I always have it next to my desktop in case I just feel like using it when most other boards are boxed away.

Let me address you all and make a request.
I have begun rolling out refunds, in order of first paid to last paid.
The exact time approximation to repay all of this is un known, however I do have the bank in my pocket to take a personal loan out to repay everything.
HOWEVER - many of you have initiated paypal chargebacks. Why is that a problem? I have now had the ability to take money out of the paypal account stripped - which means no further refunds can be made via paypal.
So those of you initiating chargebacks, I understand you want your refund, but you need to know that chargebacking is not getting it faster than anyone else. It's actually just delayed the process significantly.
I did not choose to have this happen, and I am dealing with it to the best of my ability. You've all been patient with this group buy this long, I just ask that you hold out a bit longer - many of you know me, and you know I'm not going anywhere.
This is just a speed bump to drive over on the journey, I have nothing to gain what so ever by abandoning this all completely.
I'm not telling you guys to cancel your chargebacks, but I am suggesting for the betterment of everyone involved, please give it a consideration.

It's currently 10:30 PM and I just got a picture, video, and text message from my contact in China who was reaching out to the factory in Shenzhen. Him and another colleague managed to get ahold of the factory owner, and I guess whatever they did over there worked because he's been cranking on espectro.
So production on Espectro has been happening for the last few hours, and I am told that they are not stopping until it's done.
They have promised me absolutely that it is being done, and no delays, no lies, no bull****.
I am full of confusion and of course still have reservations however you as the customer can take this how you will.
If you want to keep on track with me on this, then I welcome you to . I want nothing more than to ship these out to you all.
If you still want a refund, then I can arrange that with you privately.
This is currently where we are at. As the customer, you need to tell me what you want to do moving forward.
Sorry for all this again, I didn't want to keep waiting and moved ahead with refunds, I had no expectations of them getting going. I do have a picture I'll be posting of the stack of aluminum bricks - the video I don't know how to pull, but it is of the CNC machine carving out an espectro.

The raw aluminum comes as you see below, and then is smeltered/melted into long rectangular bricks and heat treated to be prepared for CNC machining. Whatever he’s doing with this thread, I don’t know. When I see him post on Discord, I’ll copy it and link it here. Not that it’s my place to do so, there just seems to be a lot of toxicity on GH lately. A lot of us have become disenfranchised by it. I’m not saying that’s why he doesn’t post here frequently, because I just don’t know. What I do know is that Dave delivers on his promises and GBs. It’s unfortunate that the manufacturer of the Espectro has given us nothing but worry for a while. We are very close to having these boards in our hands and just like any GB, we need to be just a little more patient. 😉

Furthermore, my two prototypes and my files, do not have that issues. How this came to be is beyond me, my files check out - they are denying responsibility. The only way to rectify the issue is for me to pay them for the work(edited)

This first and foremost was not a bid contract.
This factory was one I had previously employed for the production of mechmini 2 and various other projects such as my layered aluminum/acrylic boards.
This factory had also not caused any significant problems in the past 15~ months dealing with them.

This Espectro situation honestly triggered the worst depression I've yet to experience, and the last 3-4 months of life has been a struggle just to want to get out of bed. We're almost finished guys. That update is pretty exciting honestly. I can't wait, this has been a long rocky road. A lot of ups and downs but I am super excited to get my green ((One of like 2)) Espectro's. Hopefully the other packages arrive before to long. I can't wait to see people building them.We're almost there.
The fact that I now have 20/130 espectros in my posession and all the pcbs is amazing enough.

China didn't give me the stabilizers I ordered. I'm trying to locate enough to complete the boards requiring assembly. Will update when those are going out.

Mine didn't even come with a usable base it was shattered. I do know thought looking at them the screws seemed to be exceptionally tiny.PCB's and Plates etc are coming. Incase nobody has read up on the news - our entire postal system went on this massive strike and there is something like a 6 week back log of parcels to be accepted/sent out. If you're not receiving your extra parts yet, that's entirely nothing to do with me at all one bit. We just gotta keep waiting it out.
