Does the name plate fit the e6 as well?
I believe in the IC he said no as it’s a different way the nameplate is mounted. I’m on mobile so it’s may take a while for me to find the link.

What is the difference between e-white and MAO?
They are both processes to achieve white on alu boards since its impossible to anodize white. I forgot the full names for these, but e-white is a more pure white, while MAO is more grey silvery white. Hope that helps

What is the difference between e-white and MAO?
E-white is electrocoated, which is a paint coating method where the object to be coated is dipped in a bath and then has an electric charge applied, attracting the paint. Used a lot of automotive, tends to give a very even high quality coating over complex shapes. Think powdercoating but better. Electrocoated white can be a very true pure white.
MAO is microarc oxidation, which is a electrochemical treatment very similar to anodization, but with much much higher voltages. This makes a much thicker oxidation layer than standard ano. You can get close to white with MAO, but not all the way, it tends to look grey-ish.

Total would be the higher priced weight. A = $45, B = $30 —-> total = $45

The E6.5 uses a center port USB C pcb so it's unlikely there is any compatibility with readily available 65% pcbs

The zeal65 has a centered USB C, so I wonder if the E6.5 would be compatible with that. That might end up being really nice for the pc case.

If we put in a second form to modify our first order, was our placement according to the second or first form? Just curious as it doesn't matter now. I was planning to join China GB, which was cheaper but limited to only 30 sets I think. I was not able to get one, gone too fast. 5AM MST was the GB start time.
Also, I was more focused on my own Polycarb 65% design these days, I guess I need to focus on making my own design perfect (lots of time and monetary investment involved), and will probably need to sit out most keyboard GBs for a while.

I think you added the cost of both A and B as separate costs to the boards. It should just be one additional cost instead of two.

It's going to be super light just with PC. I have a full PC case. You really need the brass to increase the weight a bit

I'm curious how light this one will be considering the weight is smaller than the 910 weight. I think if it's at least 2.5lbs I'd still go poly.

Not only would it benefit him but it would be best for all of us if we keep things as straightforward as possible to ensure the GB goes as smoothly as possible. :thumb:

You're right. Since there isn't an order number captured in this process, there isn't a way to look up a distinct order when someone has multiple in the list. Those with multiple boards will only have the first one pulled up this way. I'll unhide another tab which has the raw responses (but still calculates the pricing) and you'll just have to find yourself in the list a couple of times. Sorry bout that.
If you go to this sheet and hit the blue tab, you should be able to look up each of your orders there.

Hey there - so the spreadsheet automatically looks up the price of an engraving on the extra nameplate. For some reason, you completed the field here to have an engraving ($1) but did not actually order another nameplate. I've explained to Exclusive and he'll be editing your invoice.

He's still working through them. We prepared a batch upload file for PayPal, but he doesn't have the option available to him to actually upload it. So he's manually creating hundreds of invoices. He's been at it for hours. Sounds to be about half way done. You still have about 85 more ahead of you. ;)

Agree 100%. Originally started working on this as an experiment on understanding what was selected and so forth, but am considering if there's a way to archive a database for reference later. I know I've enjoyed looking at the original sheet for both of my Duck boards to see what was originally ordered, who bought it, how many people bought the same color way, etc.

Huh i did not get an invoice yet :-X
He's still working through them. We prepared a batch upload file for PayPal, but he doesn't have the option available to him to actually upload it. So he's manually creating hundreds of invoices. He's been at it for hours. Sounds to be about half way done. You still have about 85 more ahead of you. ;)
Damn you guys must have spent a lot of time with the spreadsheet. Also, i cant imagine how tiring and time consuming it is to make nearly 300 invoices! Hats off to you guys. Now i’m imagine how QC is going to go on this. Haha!

PP has some nice features like invoice generator based on XLS/CSV files :cool:
Tried that. Made the template and prepared the batch file to upload. Exclusive doesn't have the option in his instance of PayPal to execute it. Not sure if the feature is region locked or if it's not enabled for all accounts, but that means he can't just bulk upload.

There have been a few entrepenures who have created project management solutions for Indiegogo and Kickstarter platforms, that interact with BackerKit, etc. I could easily see someone working on a similar project for this community. It's not a bad idea at all.

due date on invoice is 11th of march? thought the due date for payment is 15th
That was based on the original plan of leaving the form open for a week. Turns out he blew through the originally planned 100 keyboards in like 23 minutes (and thus would have been done there). Left the form open for like 9 hours total and after the dust settled on changes / cancellations still ended up with just over 250 keyboards. So he's actually ahead of schedule of getting invoices out on 3/4 - 3/6 when the original plan would have been 3/10-3/11. Add on a week's worth of time to pay the invoice and there you have it.
Short version: Money's due sooner because the invoices went out sooner.

I third this! I've never been in one of Exclusive's GBs before, but compared to others I have been in Exclusive has easily out done them with flexibility & communication. I know he's swamped right now with getting this all together & I had to PM him twice. One about some issues with my selections & one for a payment deadline extension. Not only did he answer my questions about my selection & give me the extra day I need to pay (my invoice had a pay by date of the 11th & I don't get my next pay till the 12th), he actually responded to both PMs within minutes of me sending them! :eek: Great work Exclusive, we all owe you one for your hard work & flexibility! :thumb:

It's been visual aesthetic for me too. In my mind, blockers are one of those aspects that trigger my retro nostalgia feels, so I like them for that.

For me, I chose the WKL (aside from also liking wkl boards) specifically because the blocker in PC will allow just a little bit of the color of my plate choice (wathet) to show through to compliment my build (GMK cyan is going on this with a couple of specific artisans :) )

Yes, do not worry. There have been 2 rounds of E6-v2 and a E7 run since then and they all went very smoothly! E8 was not run directly thru exclusive, and all the others were. As long as he handles it all, do not worry :)

Only longer keys need a stab, so the 6.25u and the 7u. the other keys do not require stabilizers.

Anything 2u and above in keysize will have the opportunity to utilise a stabiliser. The standard stabiliser wire sizes are 2U, 6.25, 7u. The less common is 6U, though findable; your very less common sizes will be anything in between those.

A standard 60% keyboard will use a total of 5 stabilisers - four 2U and one 6.25u. It's used with the space bar, two shift keys, your enter/return and the backspace.

Keys with extra holes will utilise stabilisers. The image below shows the common sizes:

How many you would use is dependent on your layout of choice and up to you, ones preference. It can be none at all to your general set of 8 on a full-size standard keyboard or more stabilisers as you peak into custom builds on your keyboard adventures.

Yeah the fact he opened up further orders because of high demand was a very nice gesture to the community from him IMHO. It's honestly starting to look like he shouldn't have the way so many people are trying to pull out. Which does cause more work for Exclusive by having to keep everything going to the right people. Honestly to everybody that is selling their spot just to sell it you should probably wait to recieve the board & sell it on here or r/mechmarket. If you have to sell because of an emergency to get cash now that is a different story & worthy of asking E to change up the info for your order. Otherwise it's honestly just piling extra work on a dude who was nice enough to accommodate all of us & has his hands full trying to deliver the highest quality product possible to us. :blank:

It does always seem to happen for most keyboard group buys to some extent (not as much with keycap group buys, from my observation), but I do feel like it’s been a “above average” occurrence in this particular group buy so far.
And maybe it just feels that way because it started happening in the early stages, but we’ve still got a ways to go before we get these boards in our hot little hands.

Not being condescending. It seems that people are alluding to the GB going poorly, hence the "many" people leaving. I don't think that's a fair narrative.

Yeah, I don't think it's going poorly either, nor did I ever get that impression. Most people, when they state a reason for selling, say it is simply that they need money for personal reasons - not because they're dissatisfied with the group buy.
If I were one to draw conclusions from this, I'd conclude that the group buy is so excellent that people were so eager to jump on board that they did so when they weren't in the best financial situation to do so. ;)

There's always a certain % of people who want to sell their spot in any GB due to various reasons. Lost interest, financial issues, etc. As was said above, this particular GB is bigger than usual so that % means more individuals selling their spot. Everything's going fine with the run. Just takes time.

What was the plate material used? And was it full plate or half plate?
Switches seemed a tad scratchy but sounds nice overall

Same plan here! I went with the dark red WKL case, brass plate, e-white & e-black weight. & a e-white & e-black name tag to match Jamon with the Jamonelties & Pata Negra kit. Although I got GMK Oblivion on it's way (Git base, Oblivion cadet, Hagoromo cadet alphas) on order too which I bet will look killer with the dark red case also!

Hey guys, I tested this light blue E6.5 for exclusive.
This color so nice with SHOKO and I like that LED and different color alu weight.
At the same time, the gasket is better than top mount.
And he made some stickers as a gift, I hope everyone will fall in love with E6.5! :thumb:

How long will the shipping take? I'm planning on moving by the end of September so I'm honestly not sure whether to use my current or future address...
If i were you i'd ship to a friend's place just in case, or work, or set up a PO box or something with mail forwarding. It is shipping via DHL, so you can always request them to change address for delivery also...

Ok if I am understanding this right the first wave to ship out will only include the boards going to the 16 listed people. Then the second wave to ship out will only include 30 boards that go to the people who got in earliest I assume? After those boards have all been shipped out then the third wave will begin & include the majority of peoples orders? Also how soon do you need our info if we will most likely be in the third wave of shipping?

I was under the wrong assumption that there would only be 3 shipping groups, so I got a little worried as I was thinking I may have somehow missed my name getting called. Your process seems much harder than just looking at the list.
I think it look less than 3 seconds to see my name on the list using my phone.

Got mine. So happy with the quality and appearance of the keyboard. My only regret is not getting a Gold PVD Brass name plate with some text/default text on it.
This is my first custom GB board, and I really enjoy the fun this hobby has become for me (minus the waiting times). Now that I have a few boards and keysets it is time to relax and let the wallet rest.

To my understanding, if you're using the gasket, you do not secure it to the top piece. The gasket should kinda friction fit the plate and pcb combo into the case.
For the error message you're getting, that means that the .json file you're using is meant for https://kbfirmware.com/ (https://kbfirmware.com/) not qmk config.

Awesome news there, thanks for the heads up! Yeah not sure about the foam yet myself, but I got options there. Cut the foam back or just use the sorbothane strut mod so I don't gotta worry about anything being by the edges of the plate.

Also I removed the screws attaching the plate to the top half and didn't make a difference, so I'm assuming that's the proper way to install it if you're using the gasket.
PS. For anyone who is having trouble flashing with the qmk toolbox, you have to press and hold the button on the backside of the pcb for three seconds before the keyboard is recognized as an HID device. Then you can flash using the compiled hex file generated from kbdfirmware.

just FYI, you dont have to use the hexfile from kbdfirmware if you dont want to. Theres support for E6.5 now on config.qmk.fm.

Looks great OP & gives me a little preview on mine! I went with the dark red WKL alum. case to pair with Jamon as well. However I went with e-white accents (nameplate & weight) cause I really like the look of Jamon with both white & black accents with the white spacebar. Other than that I plan on doing the same layout so we're pretty much E6.5 bros!

Awesome, thanks for doing a batch of these E! I've been wanting to do a linear build for my E6.5, but really didn't want to desolder my current setup it in it to do so. No more worries now for those of us who didn't order any extra PCBs or plates! Just ordered myself a PCB, PC plate, & fresh gasket. When will PP invoices be going out for these?

Good question! I'd imagine they would, but we'll have to wait for E's answer to be sure. Not a deal breaker for me either way as i very rarely use the LEDs on my E6.5.

Also if you want to upload the json to remap it, you'll have to do it on https://kbfirmware.com/ (https://kbfirmware.com/) (talk about a blast from the past! LOL) because that are not compatible with QMK configurator. Anyways, hopes this help someone avoid the stress I went through tonight thinking I could use the same jsons & hex files I made for the original yellow PCB.

I am experiencing two issues. First is that the keyboard doesn't show up as an HID Device in QMK Toolbox. Second is when I hit the reset or bootloader mode button on the bottom of the PCB nothing happens.
Any ideas what might be needed to fix these issues?
Do you have to original yellow PCB or the new black one? With the new black new it will not show up as a HID device in QMK toolbox till you reset it. To reset it you have to short the two copper through hole pads directly above where it says reset since there is no reset button on the black PCBs. If it is the original yellow PCB (which does have a reset button if I am remembering correctly) then it may be a dud. In that case I would send Exclusive a DM on Discord or here (Discord has been the easiest place to get a hold of him IME). Anyways GL getting your PCB up & running man!

This might be something simple you overlooked, but I would double check to see that the pins of that switch didn't actually get bent and not making contact on the pcb - that would be a simple cause for those issues you're experiencing.
