Soon I'll be bringing some MKC's aluminum spacebars. It's OEM profile with 3 stems, and fits with Filco.

The price would be $25 for each.

MKC would only make 2 colors this time, and basically I think red and silver would be the most popular colors for the aluminum spacebar.

So if you're interested in these, please fill out the following fancy Google form letting me know your favorite color.

Obviously I've mentioned that to MKC, but he just said maybe in the future he will make cherry profile. If this group buy goes well, think I can convince him to make cherry profile.

How much difference in feel is it if you put an oem profile space bar on a cherry profile setup?

Also keep us informed if and when MKC will start making/anodizing any Modifiers as well. Would be cool having all Red Modifiers and Space keys.

It's just wrong and results in an instant perma-ban from GH.

Bummer. Would be nice to offer in a darker color like black or dark grey, and also cherry profile. Color probably won't be a problem, I'll just strip color and re-anodize myself, but profile I can't do anything about that.

Kind of curious how red it would actually look. Sometimes red anodized looks great, sometimes not so much. Normally on smaller items it looks great though.

If this were cherry profile I would say red and to put me down for one. Not so sure about OEM profile though, since I mostly have cherry profile keycaps.

Believe me, by spending so much time on GH, I've started hating OEM profile. MKC just dones't have time to make new profile but OEM. I'll try to make him do SP/Cherry.

Well he already has the CNC file needed to make the cherry profile. It's just a matter of picking which one if he's only willing to do one. For space bars, IMO you can use cherry profile for any other profile cap (including OEM), but you can't use a OEM profile space bar on a cherry set. That'll just be too tall, but a cherry profile space bar won't look bad with a OEM profile set.

It's gonna be dull polished. Not those three polishings from Ti spacebar's group buy.

Both red and grey spacebar will be anodized IMO, need to confirm with MKC about it.

Maybe when MKC have earned what he has paid back, he would reduce the price a bit? Hopefully. :/

It's because MKC wanna make things easier this time. I think he mainly wanna see if this round will turn well so he can make more options in the future.

Anodizing is a chemical way to treat aluminum surface to make it stronger. Don't worry, you won't be wearing it out within your lifetime with just your thumb.

A problem with anodizing... its just on the surface. Make a tiny scratch, and it will show in silver color.

Just like the scuffmarks on the new iPhone

I second this, I was so excited to see $25 aluminum space-bar, only to later realize my middle stem is completely off

EDIT: I see the Titanium spacebar allows for multiple stems, would that be an option for this one as well?

This can happen when dropping a weighted item on hard, jagged surfaces. Something tells me that won't happen to a spacebar.

Metal on metal would scratch anodizing easily without force. Like if you wear a ring or similar.

While this is true, it seems highly unlikely unless someone were to rest their fists on the keyboard. I can't speak for others but I know I do not handle enough metal objects around my keyboard to have any reason to worry.
