Placebo Guy and I are going to make a trip to OceanTech on 11/29 to look through their keyboard pile and specifically the Cherry white-on-black Double Shot's from MY7000 HPBUS-2.

The MY7000's have been listed on ebay for quite a while now, with the current auction here:

Remember that some of the keys will not fit a normal US ANSI FILCO like keyboard and you will need a moogle kit from somewhere else to completely fill that type of keyboard

We can pick up as many of these keyboards as people are interested in. Assuming we can find that many in decent condition of course as they are all used keyboards from a closed retail store. I'd expect shiny numpad from being used in a retail store.

We will also strip the keys and re-ship both CONUS and anywhere else in the world.

The exact costs are still TBD, but will be less than what you would pay on ebay and you'd get better condition keycaps from us going through them

If you are interested, please post a reply in this thread so we can better estimate if we should try and pick up 10 or 100 of these keyboards

They can all fit in a bubble mailer and I have sent some that way within the US before. I'm not sure if that would be a good idea for going outside the US, especially this time of year. I'm going to look for some other smaller bulk boxes to use to avoid the expensive priority mail option

Even beat, the price is nice for placeholder DS caps, until you get something newer/better. The price will be even better with potential GB discount and lower shipping costs.

I know a handful of people posted elsewhere that they had bought them on ebay and they weren't horrible. Not new of course, but not horrible.

anyways, that is why its just an IC and not a GB with money collection ahead of time...as it very well could be a bust.

Ya, I stopped by there about a year ago. The keyboards are from Banana Republic and Guess Jeans retail stores. Some of the keys are nice but on every single board there are some extremely shiny keys and every one has the same wear so not even possible to piece together a nice set. When I was there they had 4 pallets stacked 4 feel high each.

Well, I'm not too big a fan of white on black, but considering there's a moogle GB getting ready...I'd say I'm interested if the price is right.

Like shawn o said, these aren't new, but they also don't cost $75 like new ones do. I hope we'll be able to find enough ones in decent shape.

I'll be putting up a classified add for these then once I have them in hand. The people who expressed interest in this thread will have first dibs on them. No problem either if you change your mind and don't want them then.

Hi, sorry about the late update. I had to do some errands. Here are some pics

Pretty dusty

Double shots

Quick rinse with hand soap and they look pretty good!

Be careful when removing keycaps! Some parts are old, and the stem got stuck in my F12 key

(btw if anyone has any ideas how i can get the broken stem out, let me know!)

Since it sounds like these were mainly used in retail stores as employees were ringing people up, you will see shine on the numpad, enter key, esc key etc. But not so much the letters, and no shine on the space bar. I guess that makes sense since they don't actually type a lot. Overall I'd say it's a good buy for $9 if you're looking for genuine cherry doubleshots

For pulling the stem out you may need to drill down and remove the plastic bits... are these USB? If so, I'd love to steal a card reader if it can be a stand alone unit.

placebo guy and I picked up enough keyboards this morning for everyone who expressed interest so far and more.

All are in as good of shape as what Acetrak posted or much better.

They have like 8 huge boxes full of these and we were there for 2hrs and went through them all. Some boxes were completely full of junk boards and others were a bit better. We pretty much bought all the boards with keys in decent shape (i.e. we'd actually use them on our own keyboards). What is left there now is probably 75% complete junk and maybe 25% in ok shape, but not something I would use myself.

So consider the interest check list closed for now. If you are listed in the 2nd post you will have a keycap set reserved for you if you are still interested. People not on the list will be on a first come first serve basis when ever I get a thread created in the classifieds.

Prices will be as follows, both including shipping & PP fees:
CONUS = $15
NON-US = $20

FYI that after having to pay MN state tax on these, shipping costs, PP fee's on our end, and buy boxes and stuff to ship these we basically just break even. So this is completely being done for the GH community
