Backstory
Hits vape. I was sat at home one night like normal and looking at my keyboards n that. All the beautiful keyboards right. And I have this board with GMK Muted on and I was all like oh man I love GMK Muted right, like everybody does, and I was messing around with it with my imagination and I like tinted it green a bit and I was like yo that’s pretty nice yo it’s muted and green, green like weed man ha ha and I was like yo it’s like muted but ZOOTED ha ha man that’s pretty funny and I hit that vape again to celebrate. Then I was like oh man wouldn’t it be great to have a nice weed themed set cos like, I don’t really care about anime girls but I still like beautiful German keycaps, and weed, and like it’s pretty unlikely I’m gonna get any 420 Clacks so yeah why not mock that **** up for real yo. Then I was like but wait, some people don’t even like weed, and that’s cool man, ydy, but they might still like the colour green. So I figured hey you know what let’s keep the base kit straight, and put the weed refs in thenovelties kit extras and collabs so if you don’t like it you don’t have to buy it. Pretty cool.

YO! I can finally announce that the GB goes live on 4/20. As if any other date would do. That's less than a month away, btw. Final kitting has been sent for quote and there'll be new renders soon. 3u bars and 40s compat might happen (might!) UPDATE - March 11 2021

There's been a lot going on with Zooted behind the scenes here and we'll be announcing a bunch of things next week but for today I want to make an announcement that I hope you all will be more than happy with.
*Sparks Lighter*
The almighty aluminium bossman Salvun is on board to produce the leafy cap that was too hot for GMK.
With that in mind, I've revised the kitting. Obviously the leaf novelties are out, and there's been some minor changes to the kit in the original IC, mainly the move from UK ISO coverage to more basic ISO coverage to keep costs down. I've also settled on Icon & Text mods because that's where my taste is at right now. It's classic, and I'm a classy guy. *takes an extra long draw and coughs lungs up* Here's the proposal for the final kits, hopefully this will achieve that elusive balance between affordability and coverage. 2 WEEK UPDATE and a big old hurdle
Thanks all for your interest in this set, I've read all the responses here and on reddit and all the suggestions have been taken into my brain to be considered and utilised or tossed aside. Thanks especially to Zekkin and Bliss for posting tunes. Good tunes!
Now for the news: Feedback has been quite overwhelmingly positive and I felt like we wouldn't have a problem hitting MOQ and getting it made. A couple of vendors expressed interest and GMK were contacted to ask about their view of the set and whether they'd manufacture it. Unfortunately they told us in the politest way possible that they liked the colourway but would not make the set with this theme and novelties. I'm disappointed but not surprised.
So, I guess there's a couple of options here really:
1. Keep it GMK and change the theme. I really love the colours in this set and honestly GMK are the company that I would trust to bring it to life. There's a reason they have the reputation that they do. Working with them to get the colours just right for GMK DMG really showed me their top tier level of professionalism and how easy they were to work with. I think the GMK version of this colourway is probably the prettiest of the potential possibilities. However, no weed theme! And weed IS the theme, and I like the theme and I really want the novelties... so, yeah.
2. Go with another manufacturer. This option is more open ended, could mean going the dye sub pbt route, could change profile, could make more easily affordable kits and even one with a lot more novelties... but I need convincing that another manu can get these colours right, and anyway there's no guaranteeing any manufacturer would be ok with running the theme.
So this is where we're at. I'm really undecided on this at the moment. I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm mulling it all over. Maybe inspiration will come if I just hit this vape.

Now for the news: Feedback has been quite overwhelmingly positive and I felt like we wouldn't have a problem hitting MOQ and getting it made. A couple of vendors expressed interest and GMK were contacted to ask about their view of the set and whether they'd manufacture it. Unfortunately they told us in the politest way possible that they liked the colourway but would not make the set with this theme and novelties. I'm disappointed but not surprised.
So, I guess there's a couple of options here really:
1. Keep it GMK and change the theme. I really love the colours in this set and honestly GMK are the company that I would trust to bring it to life. There's a reason they have the reputation that they do. Working with them to get the colours just right for GMK DMG really showed me their top tier level of professionalism and how easy they were to work with. I think the GMK version of this colourway is probably the prettiest of the potential possibilities. However, no weed theme! And weed IS the theme, and I like the theme and I really want the novelties... so, yeah.
2. Go with another manufacturer. This option is more open ended, could mean going the dye sub pbt route, could change profile, could make more easily affordable kits and even one with a lot more novelties... but I need convincing that another manu can get these colours right, and anyway there's no guaranteeing any manufacturer would be ok with running the theme.
So this is where we're at. I'm really undecided on this at the moment. I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm mulling it all over. Maybe inspiration will come if I just hit this vape.

Omg what a joke. Weed is still considered a drug to some people? And also it’s not like GMK comes up with ideas.... we pay them to do what and make what we want. I can understand if someone wanted to make like a Hitler set with swastikas and crap but to say they won’t make a weed leaf? It’s like legal most places and not even controversial. I would think of rethemed the set to something "safer", which not cause insecurity and issues ;)
The main theme is a pure nature :) why not to continue that path and explore colors like "whitish green", "milky green"?

Thanks for all these inputs. This is pretty much where I'm at with it as well. I want these colours from GMK so I'm going to look at reworking the theme. I doubt anything alluding to weed is going to be ok at all, even switching it to hemp/cbd, and tbh I don't want to turn it into a back and forth trying to find their limit of what's acceptable. That would suck the joy out of the whole thing. But I'm sure we can still have a fun theme on this... aliens maybe, hippy-ish stuff maybe... I'm gonna hit this vape and have a think.

My two cents - Moving to another manufacturer also will not be easy especially if they are asia based, where anything to do with this stuff is taken strictly, and that more than in Germany (where it is pretty relaxed)
I would recommend moving totally away from the theme and getting a new one sorted out, but it is up to the majority of course since a meme is a meme.

Ah i just found that update. That’s a bummer:( I’m not sure who produces the nice sets of SA keycaps, but I think this color way would look really good in SA profile. Maybe that manufacturer would be down to make the novelties. Whatever you end up doing I’ll be following, love the color way and even without the novelties we all know what the set represents:)

So I'm back on this. Sorry it's been ages, I was stoned*.
I'm thinking of ditching the GMK novelties altogether and getting the weed leaf done by an esteemed aluminium cap maker. I was gonna do some kinda novelties like CND symbol, smiley face, alien head, mushroom, third eye... but then I don't think it really fits the green theme. Maybe for another set. I like the colours too much and I want GMK to do them, and I want to keep the theme.
So the update is: I expect to be ready to update very soon.
*actually life has been wild what with the pandemic n all. Also I got into modular synth stuff, and decorating my house, and woodwork, and learning blender, aaaaand I don't even know why I'm making excuses anyway, point is I've been doing other ****, but I'm still thinking about this set a lot and it's gonna get made.

So I'm back on this. Sorry it's been ages, I was stoned*.
I'm thinking of ditching the GMK novelties altogether and getting the weed leaf done by an esteemed aluminium cap maker. I was gonna do some kinda novelties like CND symbol, smiley face, alien head, mushroom, third eye... but then I don't think it really fits the green theme. Maybe for another set. I like the colours too much and I want GMK to do them, and I want to keep the theme.
So the update is: I expect to be ready to update very soon.
*actually life has been wild what with the pandemic n all. Also I got into modular synth stuff, and decorating my house, and woodwork, and learning blender, aaaaand I don't even know why I'm making excuses anyway, point is I've been doing other ****, but I'm still thinking about this set a lot and it's gonna get made.
This was my suggestion a few posts up ;D
Something like Salvun leaf in green plus purple splatter (or vice versa) would be really cool.

Any chance of adding R2 1.75u Backspace, R3 1.5u Enter, R3 1.25u Tab to the base kit? That way a lot of 40% boards would be covered without the need for a dedicated 40s kit.

With that in mind, I've revised the kitting. Obviously the leaf novelties are out, and there's been some minor changes to the kit in the original IC, mainly the move from UK ISO coverage to more basic ISO coverage to keep costs down. I've also settled on Icon & Text mods because that's where my taste is at right now. It's classic, and I'm a classy guy. *takes an extra long draw and coughs lungs up* Here's the proposal for the final kits, hopefully this will achieve that elusive balance between affordability and coverage. It's actually mauve, not grey, but yeah the kitting picture accents were way too bright. I've re-uploaded them. You should go by the renders though for the best idea. KLE isn't that great at representing colours.
Here to beg for basic 40s support. R2 1.75 backspace, r3 1.5 enter and r3 1.25 tab would let you cover a good chunk of 40s boards.
I would love to offer this but I don't see enough people asking I'm afraid.
So now that we have text and icon mods, the obvious question is obvious.

I actually had planned on making it R5, but decided against it as it'd add to the cost and I'm really tryna get this kit to be as affordable as poss.

It's a nice idea but too luxurious for this refined base kit. There will hopefully be collabs with some purp WASD action though. Keep em peeled.
Will the purple be closer to the render or the updated purple? I liked the slightly muted tone of original look and the updates just look a little bright. Might be my eyes, though!

Let me first get out of the way that I'd prefer icon-only mods like shown in the old render for this one... normally, I have no clear preference in that regard, but here I feel that icon-only would be more laid-back, thus fitting the theme better.

Yep. 3 key support is for the minivan (and its derivatives). 1u enter is typically (maybe exclusively?) for ortho.

Just bought all kits! I’m having trouble finding the US vendor for desk mats though, is novelkeys not going to sell them?

What was the previous name of this set when the name was changed? can't remember
It's only ever been called zooted. The name was there at the moment of conception. Green version of muted, weed themed... Zooted.
So it's just a grey scale like the 9009 with some purple mixed in? Or has it got some green to it?
