What is the point of Ergodox EZ LED lights?

Is it just for looks? Or can the lights change to show which profile I'm in?

The underglow? Or the status LEDs?

Both can be programmed, and can, indeed, show you which layer you're on, or whatever you'd like.

Thank you. I meant the underglow. It’s an option so I’d save some money if it were just for looks. But giving me feedback on which layer I’m on sounds useful.

FWIW, showing which layer you're on is not part of the factory firmware, you'll have to update yours to make it do that. The code required to do so is quite simple, and if you get there, I'm happy to walk you through it.
