Would the flex plate have a largerly same sound signature as the normal poly? For the most part, yes.
Fantastic, thanks gok!Hopefully. I've been pestering the manufacturers for updates about when it will be finished for the past couple of days. The machining on them was done a while back and they were waiting on anodisation.
Do you think streamers will receive their prototypes before the GB is finished?
I placed my order and I'm hoping for a speedy delivery. I presume this is conservative time-frame and given it's open and for 3 weeks, I'm super interested in seeing numbers ordered once GB closes.Correct. The last prototype I'm getting will be grey.
Also, the three prototypes you have don't include the gray, right?

Lol, you’re definitely not getting it until 2021
I prefer the 6u bottom row aesthetically (not a big fan of mixing 1.25u and 1.5u mods); where is a good place to source a 6u stab wire from? If memory serves, some old Cherry 1800/11800/11900 boards have them, but I was wondering if there is anything out there that wouldn't require me harvesting a full board for just one stab wire.
I'm very excited to join the buy! I'm torn between blue with silver accents or the completely murdered out black look, currently.
Oh sweet! I completely glossed over that bit, good looking out :)I prefer the 6u bottom row aesthetically (not a big fan of mixing 1.25u and 1.5u mods); where is a good place to source a 6u stab wire from? If you look on the included items in the kit, there is a line item that says "1x Genuine Cherry 6u stabilizer," so it looks like they are going through the effort of sourcing the 6u for you.

Which streamers do you think will be receiving prototypes? I heard Taehatypes was on that list?
Made a geekhack just to comment on the IC for this. Super stoked. Got one black and one white with pvd weight. Nice work Gok, now I just need that kuro shiro r2!Kuro/Shiro will be coming back this year but with some alterations. Epbt had a hard time making the black accent keys so most of those are out but I might be able to keep the novelty.

Is it suggested that I order two PCB's?Every time I haven't ordered two, I've regretted it.
In for all black with extra black pvd ;DIf I were you, I'd just get GMK MetaverseKuro/Shiro will be coming back this year but with some alterations. Epbt had a hard time making the black accent keys so most of those are out but I might be able to keep the novelty.
Any chance you run kuro/shiro in gmk as well? Actually, I just want it in ABS instead of PBT, so even JTK will do :p.
Is it suggested that I order two PCB's?
Can we put other PCB into this case you reckon? Say if it broke in the future and you don't wanna have expensive paperweightNot really because it's PCB mount. If there is a need for it, I'd consider running a GB for replacement PCBs in the future, much like what Fox Labs are doing.
In for all black with extra black pvd ;DYeah, that blackout version is an absolute thing of beauty. Wish I didn't have to buy them separately and then discard the stainless steel ones, though.
I plan on getting GMK Bleached and putting it on this, but I can't decide if I should go with E-White with PVD/Logo or Black with PVD/Logo. Also that $700 price tag, ouch.
Correct, split backspace, stepped caps lock and your bottom row are all independent choices.

Thanks for the quick response,
im right with my assumption that we need plate mount stabs, no pcb mount available?
I couldn't see the screw in holes or pinholes for snap-ins in the pcb pictures.

How does the stainless steel weight's durability compare to other more common keyboard materials like anodized aluminum and pvd coated brass or even uncoated brass?Stainless steel is less durable than the anodised surface of aluminium but more resilient than raw aluminium or brass.
Is it easy to repair cosmetic issues like scratches or scuffs on the stainless?
any numbers update on how many units sold? Can't release this information, sorry.
Will the prototypes be sold at some point? I imagine they won't, but I am very interested in the really dark blue vs the lighter render color.I won't be selling the prototypes.

So wait, you only want to get in on this GB if it's sold in low quantities? Not because you want to support the GB organizer and/or genuinely appreciate the product - do I have that right?
Elitest, and also a bit hyperbole. When's the last time the GB for a custom board went over 700 units? (inb4 it's way more common than I think)
Sure, but PVD is an addon. Standard units come with the more unique weight, IMO. SS is neat!

I was looking forward to a black PVD option for the weight. I was expecting it to be a replacement option, but it turned out to be a whole other option. I need to be responsible with my keeb money so I decided to not get it (as much as it breaks my heart) and just look for some local service to coat and color the raw SS weight.
What are the dimensions?I've added a drawing with the dimensions to the main post.
Am I right to assume these:It's really up to you.
Linear go with polycarbonate plate
Otherwise go with alu plate

What kind of stabilizers are supported/recommended? I'm a bit confused on the different types. (PCB mounted, PCB screw mounted, plate mounted.)I recommend Durock screw-in stabs.
I have finally stumbled upon a keyboard layout I was looking for! I got fed up with 60% - which can be limiting for MOBAs with a lot of micro-control. Anyway, I'm planning on using KAM Wraiths and Bushido Stabs. Since I own a keyboard that has plate mounted Gateron Clears (and I am very happy with the overall performance), I got really used to them due to my excessive gaming and typing/coding sessions. Would you recommend using those same switches on this PCB? I guess it could be more prone to damage since the plate provides a feeling of sturdiness, but I don't mind re-soldering new switches. Or, if you'd recommend an alternative? I have previously used Cherry Reds, but I have a feeling that a heavy 3-year usage has taken its toll :eek:If you're into linears, maybe get some creams and lube them up to avoid scratchy switches. Any switches will do, just up to you.

any real photos of grey ano?Not yet. Gok is waiting for the proto as we speak (as am I, because I can't decide on the colour).

This is the second leaf-spring keyboard I've seen (first being Thermal). But is anyone else concerned about the PCB's life span? Thermal was a plate-based leaf-spring, while 7V is a PCB-based leaf-spring. I'm no material engineer, or familiar with how much flex a PCB can withstand, but some of the joints are near "hot-zones"(places where people tend to button mash keys. E.g there's one next to the arrows keys). Slight flexing from thousands of keypresses over 10 years adds up.
Again, I'm not familiar with material fatigue or the materials used in PCBs in general, but I'm interested in informed opinions. Replacing a uniquely designed PCB such as the 7V's would be nearly impossible 10 years from now.
I asked on the discord and no one seemed too concerned(due to the polymers used in the PCB), so maybe it's just me. I figured I'd also ask the GH community.
I'm definitely excited for this GB.

Would it be possible to use plate-mount switches in this in some capacity? I understand that this is primarily a PCB mount system but with the aluminum plate + foam ontop I was wondering if the switches will be more secure? I have some switches that I unfortunately already clipped to work in my current plate mount board :(Yes, you can use plate mounted switches. It will be harder to get them straight but it's not too bad. One of the prototypes was built with box clickies which come as plate mount only.

I'm not concerned. The materials used in PCBs are flexible and, if you are truly concerned, you should just buy an extra PCB or two.
I always buy an extra anyways.

How is that a good response?
Just buy extra PCBs because the part might fail? How about seeing some force tests to show there isn't a point of failure? This community will buy anything
No response to the question about PVD QC is another confidence-booster.

Everything is going to be inspected by one of our collaborative team at the factory before even shipping out. We are accounting for the defect rate by making sure that we order plenty of extras on that part. PVD is very tricky to get right, but we are doing everything possible to make sure that there are no hiccups.
I can't speak for the PCB, as I am not an engineer, but from the samples I have, it would seem very unlikely that someone could break this from normal usage.

I would imagine because of the depth of the case that it would be almost impossible to flex the PCB to snapping point.

Also, if there is anyone from the production side of things who knows a bit about materials engineering and is checking this thread, I'd like to echo the question from HorrorStorm and hmmmwhatsthis about the long-term durability of the thin PCB strips being used as a mounting method. I'd hate to be a proud owner of this board a few years from now when those strips finally snap from repeated stress, leaving me with a ~$500 paperweight.Custom and proprietary parts is something I hate in this hobby. I don't get it why anyone would like to have 500$ case made completely unusable when 40$ PCB fails inside the keyboard.

I'm guessing the final prototype won't arrive in time. :( Any chance we can see a render of the grey case with black pvd weight?
I did see the IC thread and like the grey case with black badge a lot. But I'm having a hard time imagining the black weight in the back with all the reflections like in the photos of the black prototype. I just can't get over that look... but a grey case works better for my keysets. I'm stumped over if I like the look of the black pvd weight itself, or if it's more because it matches so well with the black case.I'm guessing the final prototype won't arrive in time. :( Any chance we can see a render of the grey case with black pvd weight?
Its not quite the same, but in the IC thread there are renders of the grey case showing the black PVD badge, but I don't think there is any that show the weight.
It should at least help you see the contrast between them.

Also to add, price is a major concern for me, like, I think I'd like grey with black weight, but is it like $160 (USD) better than grey with stainless steel y'know? :p I'm not sure if I'll regret spending that much on just the weight if I end up not liking it as much as I thought, or if I'll regret not having the weight in the end by trying to save money. Was hoping a render would help me finalize my decision.
Aaaaaaaand sold.
If the gray one looks anything like this render, I'm sucking it up.

We know a lot of people were wanting to see a build along with some typing test before purchasing.Glad to hear some prototypes will also be built in the coming few days, thank you for extending the group buy a little bit so we can see them in time!
Unfortunately due to delays with COVID-19 the protos did not arrive in time. Because of this, we are extending the GB until end of day May 5. This will allow a couple protos to be built - Taeha Types and Apiary Keyboards will both be building one before then.
TLDR: GB extended until May 5.

Gok - absolutely beautiful keyboard! Any chance the microcontroller on the PCB will have sufficient unused pins that a rotary encoder could be hand-wired in? Seems to me that lonely key to the right of the F12 is a prime candidate for a custom mod job, if I can solve the round-peg in a square-hole problem without ruining the looks... ;-)If a rotary encoder is what you're after then it'd probably be better to wait for the Satisfaction75 R2.
Is it right that the GB will be live until the 5th of May?

Saw the render and updated my order to also get gray in addition to E-White.. Now time to forget about this until March next year. :D

Probably, but honestly I like the overall look of the 7V more. That OLED on the Satisfaction kind of throws the balance off IMO. I'm glad I have a little extra time to mull this over...
Taeha will build his on the 5th at 12 PST, according to his twitter.
So, I can just order on the 5th, after watching Taeha? It is 9pm here in Europe, when he starts streaming :s and I really dont wanna blind buy at such price point.

I got 2. x: I purchased gray and ewhite.
Does the black version come with the black PVD logo and weight or do those need to be ordered separately?
Easily best board of the year :D

you should order both like everyone else lol.
Looks like it's going to be close to $1k per keyboard with the PVD plate upgrades (plus keycaps and other stuff).
There isn't an email, its a Google form on the product page from what I can see:
https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/7v-keyboard-polycarbonate-plate_2009/
The big bold text at the top of the product description is the link to the Google form where you enter your order number and colour choice.
it'll be a lot more than that. because so many proprietary parts are involved, you *should* order spares now. my shopping cart (pre tax and shipping) is $600 already for 1 board. and i'm not even adding the PVD weight that i really want.

So I watched the stream and saw a lot of people saying they are buy two different colors. Are y’all really out here getting two of these boards?Yes. Grey and black (+PVD blackout kit with logo and weight) for me. I would probably just get one if Dawn and Evolv ran unlimited GBs, but they're both doing raffles and since I can't guarantee getting any of them, I just ordered two V7s. If I get the Dawn and/or Evolv, I'll probably flip one of the 7Vs (unless I like it too much).

I took everyone's suggestions and I changed m order to:
1x e-white with aluminum plate
1x extra PCB plate
1x polycarbonate plate
1x PVB logo
1x PVB Weight
Unfortunately I can't seem to get all the SA Pulse key caps I need for this keyboard so I decided to join the black lotus group buy.
Here's a rendering of what it'll look like!

All orders or order edits must be placed before then. We will not be able to change or add new orders after that time.
Is it possible to change delivery address afterwards? I would like to join but maybe moving soon.

I am not in this particular GB, but i've been in multiple GB's via Novelkeys and have had no issues updating my address. They have a ticketing system and you can select 'change shipping address' and they'll update it for ya. If you're going to buy it, don't let a potential change of address impact your decision, this is a beautiful board.
Thank you for the info. I'm planning to get the black but will wait to see what Taeha got and how it looks and sounds (if it is not identical to gasp's build).
I feel so stuck. I love the Grey, White, and Blue. I can't choose which. First world problems. For keycaps I'm planning on getting the Deku keycap set. The Ishtar keycap set. The Kat Explosion keycap set. Along with the Sparta keycap set. When the GB come around.
My first journey in this hobby and I'm diving in HARD. I already following some keyboard IC I'm looking to get when they open up the GB.

Just joined the GB, got a Black case with a polycarb plate and a black pvd badge.
Time to think about what keyset to put in it...
When getting switches for this, should I get the plate mount or PCB mount? Or is it Personal preference?
Anyone know when Nathan is streaming his build?
Anyone want to take bets on how many of these sell?

How would we go about with an order edit?
Dang, so I’m guessing all these people buying two plan to flip one or something?
Nathan's grey unit looked much lighter in color than the grey in the pictures in the main post.
Does anyone have any reference colors?

I noticed that too, I’m wondering which grey is the accurate one.

Would be great to get confirmation before the GB ends, I actually am leaning towards the grey if it’s closer to what I saw on Nathan’s stream.
I suspect the darker grey is the accurate one since the GMK Oblivion keys look pretty accurate.
Nathan probably has harsh/bright lights in his room for streaming.
Does anyone know how the sound profile of the flex pc plate would compare to the regular pc plate?
i bought two boards and some spare parts. is there a form i'm supposed to fill out? i thought i saw a google spread sheet that i'm supposed to fill. or maybe i crazy and was looking at a different GB
Alright gok, how many thousands did you sell?Let me know if you want me to make it 1001. Still regretting not getting a white as well.

Snuck my order in at the very last second, super excited for this!!Same. I was so worried I wasn't going to make it.
Judging by the hype, and the amount of people buying multiple kits, I wouldn't be surprised if this sold over 500.
I would be very interested to know the number of purchases between 3pm EST and 11:59 EST on May5. Not gonna happen but just a bit of trivia I'd be interested in.
The Apiary stream actually turned me off from buying one; however, Taeha's stream was the exact opposite and I ended up pulling the trigger. Not once, but twice. /shrug

Thanks for everyone joining this GB! We are super excited to place the order and start production on these boards.
One thing to note for my customers - we do NOT allow the selling or transferring of GB spots.
I order ;D
7V Extras - Polycarbonate Plate
7V Extras - PCB
7V Extras - PVD Weight
7V Keyboard GB - Black / Polycarbonate
7V Extras - PVD Logo
Once you go black .... Hell Yeah
This is my first custom keyboard, cant wait :D
I won't be giving out numbers sold but the rough breakdown is 40% white, 25% blue, 20% black, and 15% grey. Thanks for everyone joining this GB! We are super excited to place the order and start production on these boards.

Any chance of getting numbers or percentages of options chose? I’m curious as to how non-unique my choice was. ;D

I think you are right. When GB first opened, there weren't any proto photos of the grey and people only had one render to go off unless they trawled through the IC.I won't be giving out numbers sold but the rough breakdown is 40% white, 25% blue, 20% black, and 15% grey.
I'm pretty surprised the grey proportion is that small, I'm used to seeing it be the most in demand. Perhaps it's because the sample was fairly late to arrive. Congrats on the smashing success so far, here's to hoping the rest of the GB goes smoothly :thumb:

White being the most popular colour wasn't a surprise though.

i wanted a grey KB, but not this particular grey. i'm surprised it sold as well as it did. i expected maybe 5% grey, from people going for some specific theme and/or trying to match some caps. also, this grey doesn't look good with either the steel or the PVD weight. e-white looks good with the PVD weight, blue looks good with the steel. black always looks good with whatever. i got white and blue. i thought about getting a PVD weight but in the end it was just too much money spent already.

Interesting, what did you see in the Apiary stream that turned you off? I thought it was even more positive that Teaha's.

Yea I was gonna say this as well. It sounded way better in her stream to me. I was already getting one, but her's convinced me way more.
I really wanted the brass but for a couple hundred more, I could have another board so opted for white and black.
I can just spray paint the stainless steel black for like $5. Problem solved. ;P
I have not much experience with e-white boards.. but, do we know if the e-white on this board is gonna be closer to a "warmer" WS1 or a cooler WS2 color ? (referencing GMK stock colors)It's more like Ws2 but has a slight grey to it.
I don’t mind the SS in either so they’ll most likely stay stock. There’s a cerakote shop close to me if I ever decide to customize it. Just not sure what the tolerance is, esp with the badge.I really wanted the brass but for a couple hundred more, I could have another board so opted for white and black.

ditto. 2 boards, white and blue. i'll leave the blue as is since blue looks better with the steel weight. white is getting a matte black paint job. i had my 2013 mercedes C63 painted in matte black, the shop did an amazing job. let's hope i can get them to paint this weight, lol.

Am I correct that the basic layout requires 80 key switches?I believe it’s 84 switches to be exact. I recommend you buy 90 switches.

I can understand 2 or 3 months of "padding" but 6 months is a long time. A human baby can almost be conceived from the date of impregnation.
Could there be more reasons behind this?

My guess would be because this order was probably in the thousands.
My response wasn't meant to be flippant. If you look at the GB for Kei, it's only open for 7 days. I think a better comparison would probably be to RAMA's U80 GB which was also unlimited. It started this time last year and is set for delivery soon.I wonder why the delivery date of this group buy is so far away compared to other similar group buys.

right.. but so is everyone else. But i'm merely asking a question and not a complaint.
Here are some other Group buys
Austin R2 - Opens May 16th, Lead time 5-6 months (end of the year delivery)
Prophet 60% - Group buy ended May 1st, Shipping in August-September 2020
Kei - Group buy ends on May 20th, shipping Q3 2020
Heavy Metal - Group Buy end of May/beginning of June, shipping on Q3 2020
7V - Group buy ends May 5th, shipping Q1 of 2021
The 7v is taking 6 months longer than any other boards to make.

People waited a long time during the interest check and seem to have bought multiple boards. I suspect finding one will be easy, albeit very expensive: best begin saving up :))
I mean, you'd still have to wait. We're all waiting. The boards are supposed to arrive in 2021. Basically every GB board needs lead time for production. The only way to get a quick first build off is to buy one of the always-in-stock kits from some of the vendors or getting a second-hand kit from mechmarket.

Are extras considered when someone wants to give up their spot and you now become the owner, which is later on sold?
Sorry for the confusion, how an extra becomes an extra.Understood, thanks for clearing that up.

I am not 100% sure what you are asking. But if someone needs to cancel their order for unexpected reasons, we will work with the original purchaser on that. If it comes down to a cancellation, than that spot will turn into an extra that will be available later on.

So I originally placed an order for the dark blue. But regret not picking up the E-White as well.
Is there a chance there might be an extra E-White for purchase during shipping?

There would almost definitely be an extra E-White. Now... whether or not you'll be able to land it in extras with the current state of the scene is a different story entirely.

Could I get a response on whether I can use 0305 or 7305 millmax socket on the PCBs?
I'm not sure whether there's enough clearance between the PCB and bottom case to be able to use these.
Cases are in transit to all the vendors! Still looking to have these all shipped out to customers March-April. I am pretty excited for everyone to see these!
Just curious what happens after vendors receive it. Is there additional QC/packaging with the vendors?

Everything is complete and in route to vendors. We are still waiting on cases and the PCBs. I believe this is the case for the rest of the proxies as well. It is very soon though!
Slightly bad news. NovelKeys order is stuck on a freight ship outside of LA right now. They are having massive backlogs and delays. We do not have a strong ETA on when our boat will be able to unload and clear customs.
The ship was initially supposed to unload in February.
Any chance you can ask which ship its on (name) so we can follow on marinetraffic? Thank you!

The ship was initially supposed to unload in February.
Any ETA for European proxy ?
Not sure if this has already been addressed but will there be any priority at Novelkeys for groupbuy customers to purchase extra PCBs as part of the extras sale?
Not sure if it's intentional/WIP but I get "Access Denied" when I clicked on the Build Guide on page 1.Sorry, I set it to restricted access by accident.
We are now clearing customs (for NovelKeys only)! Please note that this is another portion that could take anywhere from 3 days to weeks. Once they are loaded on a truck I will make another update.

Amazing, thanks for letting me know. This is my first GB so I'm not privy to the process yet. Very glad to hear that if I receive a dead board, I can get a replacement.NK said extras are available at all vendors on the last page.Does this mean we missed them? Was hoping to grab an extra pcb

No, extras will be announced later on through each vendor. Typically vendors sell extras once all GB orders have been shipped out and there aren't any issues, in case replacements need to be made for the buyers.

Any plans for extras? They plan on extras, no word on when as far as I know. I suggest reading through the thread a bit to see if there are any details

This has cleared customs!
We expect to receive this shipment late this week - early next week. Will start shipping once we receive everything. Please make sure your addresses are up to date.

How do I go about updating my address? I would prefer to have it sent to my current address, but my old roommates still live at the address I lived in when I originally ordered so I could pick it up from there, but it would be easier if I could change it to my current one.
Awesome news BTW! I cannot wait!

For NovelKeys, you just need to send in a support ticket on our site.

I am moving in 2.5 weeks. Do you think that I should change my address to the new address or are you expecting them to all have gone out before then?
As for the MyKeyboard shipment:
Yulia told me today that their boat arrived this week and that they're expecting to get it sometime next week.
Hopefully that means boards shipping out in about two weeks.
I like the ewhite very much. Is it thicker than anodized?
What is the last part the NK_ is waiting for?
I like the ewhite very much. Is it thicker than anodized?
not in a way that would be perceivable by the human eye, or even a ruler. i was told by the company who did work on my house that electrophoresis and cataphoresis coating is more durable than anodizing, but doesn't alter the size enough to make something not fit where it otherwise would have had it been anodized.
i guess for that reason, you can use the same PVD badge and weight on both the ano and e-white cases. if e-white made the case thicker, it would need a different badge.
HOLY ****! I just got mine this morning (Poland via MyKeyboard). :D :DShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/J9RyBuC.jpg)
I think lots of people bought two. One to keep and one toWell, I ain't flippin' mine. One's gonna be for gaming and the other one for typing (different plates, different switches).flip“sell as their circumstances have changed” later on.
Did you buy two?! lolYeah. When the group buy was running I didn't yet have a custom board and 7V's design really spoke to me. I still think it's the best looking board I've ever seen.
Jsut finished building mine and it looks/feels great. Does anyone else's jst-cable feel a tiny bit too short? I kinda had to smoosh the bend to get my case closed.
Other than that it was a pleasure to build, great work Gok!
Any information when the 7v keyboard kit extras will be up for grabs if there's any?
All parts received! We will start shipping these out this week. These will go out in batches most likely based on color. We should be able to get them all shipped out by the end of next week. Please be patient with this process!I'm ready to get the L!
Okay the first batches that are going out are for single keyboard orders with no add-ons.

Making me regret ordering that extra PCB :-X
So just received my ewhite 7v and its beautiful, but unfortunately the extra plate and pcb i ordered did not come in my package...The extras being sold out is probably a fossil from when the group buy when live. They have not opened extras up for sale yet. Distributors typically wait until all orders have been received by customers in order to remedy the problems like the one you have.
I have already contacted NovelKeys about this, but im a little concerned because i see the extras have already all sold out. Will there be any PCB's/plates set aside for orders that were messed up?

Any ideas how many extras will be available?
I mean I'll still get the L.. but hey. One man can hope.

i feel like there should be a ton of extras on r/mm because a lot of people were buying 2, 3 or even 4 of these at a time. i bought 3, every color except black. already have too many black keebs. i will pick 1 and sell the others and the extra accessories. i saw a lot of people buy extras. so there should be a lot of these going around and prices, in theory, shouldn't be so bad since there are so many of them. also, the covid crowd is exiting the hobby. that should help with the prices.
GOK absolutely hit a home run with this thing

I don't mean aftermarket extras kekw, I mean vendor extras. /r/mm are already going for stupid high prices from flippers
But if you're willing to part with an e-white one, hmu
i want to actually get them in hand before i commit to anything. but i still think that once novelkey ships out all the order, r/mm will get flooded with these. price should become reasonable. definitely not GB prices, but probably close.

r/MM is already flooded with them. I count like 10 up for sale in the last couple of days.
Are they all like this?

Mine arrived today - I just checked and compared to his unboxing; my foam looked the same as his and then I put a couple of switches on and it all lines up.
It stretches just a little to cover the entire plate.
Non-issue.
Received tracking for my black 7V + extras this morning! Sooo excited!

Same here, but for my grey w/ extras! Can't wait.
Now for me to figure out what configuration I want to go with. I have lubed/filmed Alpacas. Will I use my aluminum, polycarb, or FR4 plate I ordered in a separate groupbuy? I have an extra PCB coming too! I have some C3 Olivia stabs to go with my caps, but I also have some Alpaca themed Durock stabs. Decisions, decisions... What is everyone else going with for theirs?
According to MechMerlin there’s no ESD protection. Should I be worried as I often get static charge in my house? If you haven't had issues with ESD with other previous keyboards, chances are you won't have issues here either.

if you are worried about ESD that much, just wear latex/nitrile/vinyl gloves when building the board. problem solved. as mentioned above, wilba made this PCB and his stuff is top notch. i built about a dozen keyboard with his PCBs in the past and it's never been a problem.
Just got the 7v! For the "contact pad" step, should the glossy or matte side be facing up?It makes no difference but for deskeys films in switches, I tend to have glossy side down for no good reason.
Can someone please explain the purpose of the contact pad? I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t get it.
Just got mine in. Looks beautiful. I'm curious though, someone said on the last page that the last piece NK_ was waiting for was case foam and I don't seem to have any. Just the plate foam for between to plate and PCB. Did anyone else get any?
Got mine a few days ago. The packaging wasn’t very good. Novelkeys put all the extras into the main 7V box, which doesn’t close all the way. It was put into a slightly larger cardboard box with a single layer of bubble wrap. :(
I had an extra pcb and aluminum plate. One of the pcbs is super bowed, not sure if it was because of the packaging. Did anyone else have an issue with packaging?
I ordered with 2 pcb extras and not enough care was put into the packaging. Box did not close all the way and all 3 pcbs included ended up being bowed. I'll still be building regardless but am definitely a bit miffed.
Durock V2 stabs are wider than standard stabilizers and are a VERY tight fit with the aluminum plate for me like they catch onto the plate and add friction. Am probably gonna run with C3 stabilizers here.

same problem. all the extra PCBs and plates were stuffed into one of the two 7V boxes that clearly did not have enough space for them. to add insult to injury, the shipping box was too small and did not actually close. spent $1100 on this GB and waited over a year just to get bent parts. all they had to do was ask for a few more dollars to cover the extra cost of shipping and boxes, i would have paid.
Having issue with JST cable being too short. It will pop out of the socket when trying to fit/aligning PCB to the case.
:)are you using the 6u wire in the box? Not so often to see 6u build.

I love this keyboard in feel, aesthetics, and sound. But I've had a few surprising moments with this sharp edge while picking up the board, especially on a 3kg banger. It seems this same weight design is going to carry over to the Type K as well. Possibly just me that feels cautious about handling!
Got my grey 7v, looks absolutely amazing, but there is a small nick on the bottom side. It is barely noticeable but I'm wondering if I care enough to open a support ticket.lol no
Got my 7V built, looks and sounds great. HOWEVER, I cannot believe out of every thread/post I’ve read that nobody else had the same QC issue as me. On the weight, the screw holes to hold the USB C connector in place has 1 hole that isn’t tapped, and one that’s too big. Meaning 2/4 screws aren’t in place properly and my USB C connector is loose as heck.
Have contacted MyKeyb but don’t know if they have any weights left. Quite disappointed…
Edit: my box was also damaged
Anyone know if vendors have sold the extras yet?

question about the build in general, are we supposed to use the pads on top/bottom or only one side? I only have it on the top side right now but the board sounds a bit metallic when typing, don't know how to lessen thatTop only. What switches are you using?

Have you tried other switches? We had a meetup in NZ over the weekend with multiple 7Vs using different setups but I didn't encounter any with a metallic sound so I'm not sure what the issue would be.

It's really only noticeable in a quiet environment. So most of the time I don't hear it cause of fans or music in the background, but if I'm typing something in a silent room I can hear it a little. I haven't tried other switches.
Do people think extras are going to be scheduled before the GB for the Monokei x TGR Tomo will be over? I can't decide if I want to try for extras or join the GB for the Tomo...

Zero people here know. Mike @ NK probably doesn't even know yet.
That said, demand will be crazy. If you get the warning that Tomo is going to hit human limit, I would pull the trigger.
Would you guys recommend using the plate foam for an alu plate + marshmallow build?Don’t see why not since you won’t be sacrificing any flex as you might with a pc plate. If you’re using marshmallows I’m guessing you wouldn’t mind possibly getting a slightly more muted/thocky sound.
As someone who just got into this hobby, my only chance now is at an extra.
Thanks. I may consider it, I can't explain it but there's just something about the 7v I like.As someone who just got into this hobby, my only chance now is at an extra.
If you like the layout, you may want to consider Monokei x TGR Tomo which is currently running.

Here's my build :)
Black 7V with black logo + black weight.
Alu plate
marshmallow switches lubed and filmed
Equalz pink stabs with rose gold wires
GMK Olivia Light Base with pink space bar.
Has anyone tried removing starches from their weight? I accidentally wiped the weight with the same micro fiber cloth i used to remove the leftover machining material from the inside :( ( Scratches are on my SS weight not the black).
Snagged an extra this morning. Super excited for my first premium keyboard! ;D
Yeah that ain't ewhite though false advertising? What happened factories ran out of ewhite? Looks like jelly Dewdrop color basically

E-White is never pure white. It is a process of coating aluminum. E-White is electrophoresis coating. This will always be slightly off white, and was represented in the product photos.
This, and to add on e-white is also prone to yellowing and is quite a bit easier to remove than anodizing.

Does anyone know why my eWhite 7V isn't very white and more like a off white cream color?
Any chance this will be restocked in the future?

Just a heads up that someone is currently offering a hotswap PCB group buy for the 7V. I figured a lot of owners would be interested.

Heyo, i just got a 7v, since i plan to use it plateless i was wondering if it's true that it might stress the pcb to the point of breaking something over time, any1 using it plateless had problems with the pcb on the long run?
maybe R2? ;)
