Turnaround time from me should be less than 3 business days too :P Monday is just by the latest. In fact, it's gonna be Victoria Day then so I'll get it out on Friday by the latest.

Were we all supposed to get the acrylic pieces? Seems like some people received them but my package didn't seem to have them.

Regardless, fantastic package and product. Mine arrived and looks great! Seems like a very successful group buy. Well done!

The problem is that they don't attach.  They just fill the space.  So if you pick up the keyboard, they stay on the table.  Does Duck intend for them to be glued?

Can't remember where I saw this, but I think he intends for them to be stuck on with double sided tape.

I'm personally more interested in the acrylic plate that sits between the PCB and the bottom of the case, but would pitch in for both.

I thought that the pieces weren't held on only for viper etc.
If not, double sided tape is the solution

I remember Elton had his attached with double sided tape. Not viable for moving around but good enough for when it's stationary. I'd be in for acrylic side pieces and the plate as well  :-*

Well, there's a problem.  The drawing files define a part that appears to be the correct shape, but is the wrong size.  They define a part that is about 4 inches long, and the Orion's insert is more like 3.25 inches long.  Not sure what's going on here.

The spacer plate would be $7.30 each (plus shipping to organizer, plus shipping) if we can get 5 takers.  Next tier would be 10.

Thanks elton, you've been good to us.

If possible, DXF is better than DWG.  (It's open source compatible)

Yeah, in case anyone doesn't know, it goes behind the PCB and spreads out the back-facing LED light around as an edge glow.

The plate at MOQ 5 is $7.30, plus organizer ship, plus taxes/fees, plus shipping.
The inserts at MOQ 10 are $3.99 ($8 for a set of two) plus all shipping/fees.

rough estimate is 1 kit to be about $20 plus shipping to you.

Indeed.  Small MOQs are a killer.  1000 pieces would be half that price.
5 or more $6.20
10 or more $3.99
50 or more $2.25
100 or more $2.11
1000 or more $1.99

Also Made-in-USA...

Note: if someone wants to do it in China, I'm perfectly willing to give it up.  To be honest it would save me a bunch of work.  Please only speak up if you've worked with a company before, though.  It would be a shame to tarnish this wonderful Orion project.

I'm just wondering
But is there a chance we can have other colour acrylics if the interest is high enough? Although I'm not sure if there's such a thing as transparent/translucent coloured acrylic

Sure there is.  And BTW, the MOQ is actually 1 for everything, it's just that it's stupid expensive below the second tier.

EDIT: I'm wrong.  This guy only has clears and opaques.

elton, do you know if the insert sizes are the same for the Orion, Viper/Eagle, Lightsaver V2, and Butterfly? If so we might be able to get a better MOQ on the side inserts by breaking that out and offering it to everyone in those GBs as well. If the cutout sizes are all slightly different it's moot though.

I was thinking the same thing.  My lightsaver v2 purchase could use some accompanying side inserts, and if they're all the same size I'd like to contribute to (and benefit from) this MOQ.

Looks like one of my SMD glow lights is toast.  Any one else have this problem?  I ordered two PCBs, the other one lights up all 4 (fortunately I tested before soldering).

Is there a good way to test if the problem is with the LED or the board?  Pretty new to this, I have a digital multimeter. If it's the LED, does anyone know exactly which kind and where I could order a replacement?  My soldering iron's tip is just small enough to fit around the LED, I might be able to get it off...  Not sure if I can get another back on there so cleanly, however.

EDIT:
Image posted upside down for some reason (looks straight on my machine), trying to fix it...

I've decided to go with vintage blues from my busted Dolch and multi colored LEDs.

Does this board have different LED zones?

Orion

Viper = Eagle

LightSaver V2

That sucks. :(

So are the conciliatory side windows that came with the grey colour orders of the Orion variety?

Seems to fit from when I tried to put them on. Then realized I don't know how to actually put them on... so I put them back in the bag for you.
I love Elzy

It does! Check duck0113's tistory for a  section on the different led modes

Thanks I found it.  Looks like there are 5 zones in the video:
F1: F1-F12
F2: num row, modifiers, and space
F3: alphas
F4: all right-side clusters
F5: backside LEDs

Caps and Scroll are obviously separate.  not sure what Esc does

Yes they fit the Orion, obviously.
