At room temperature yes! ABS will suffer from boiling water IIRC

One of the current GMK Carbon set's unique features is its R5 bottom row. But all the Spacebars in its Space kit will be R4C? I see that some of the Spacekeys are R4, but assumed the unlabeled Spacebars were all R5C.

Also just realized that both Calm Depths and Shoko are all very affordable at under $135 for a base kit. It's even more mind blowing given the fact that both sets use custom color which would raise the overall price of the kits. Just about when I'm about to lose hope in an affordable GMK set, they pull this out. Yes sorry, my english is weird sometimes. I mean, other sets I see have 1 extra 6.25, 6u and 7u spacebars in a Spacebar kit. This set only have 1 spacebar of each type, no extras to use as a replacement . Why?

Other sets don't have them as replacement but as accent spacebars for example. Since there is no accent color on this set, the only other option would be a modifier spacebar. But I don't want to add 15-20$ price to the spacebar kit for the 5% of people that use modifier colored spacebars.

Regarding the tray design being a vinyl: The first thing that comes to mind for the set name is oceans, deep waters etc, but I couldn't come up with a suitable design for that theme. T0mb3ry made a mockup of the vinyl idea which biip then expanded, and I personally really like it because: #1 it looks dope, #2 I think the set name could easily be the name of a chill trance album. Plus this being a Cherry re-run of a SA set, it's sort of a remix ;)

When you say that the GB ends on the first, does that mean I would be able to put my order in on the 1st? My budget is blown for December :)
I'll see if we can extend the buy a few days into January so that people that depend on the new paycheck can get in as well.
Currently we are looking very good on MOQ for Base and Spacebars, about 75% on each. Assembly is struggling as usual 40%. Pretty safe to say this set is getting made at least for the first two kits, Assembly we'll have to see how sales further develop!

I’m in New Zealand so my natural proxy is Zfrontier, but it seems like there are often major delays in getting things shipped out from them (e.g. GMK Olivia). Is this common with orders from them?
Even with shipping, Kono works out at basically the same price, and it seems like I’d get my keycaps much faster.
From what I've heard it was only Olivia and Phantom that had been troublesome for zFrontier, and that was because of Chinese customs. I'd still order from zFrontier if I were you.

I think it's a superb match that can't really be done better, so those two colors are currently locked in for production.

Stupid me kept staring at the keyboard wondering why the GMK looked exactly like SA before i realised the GMK was hiding in there somewhere. Heh. Set looks much better in GMK than SA! Much.... calmer?
Colour wise, the blue and cyan both look spot on compared to the SA.
The renders do look quite a bit greyer shade of blue than the actual alphas.

I agree with Oldcat on this one. Not that the color sample is bad, but there is a bit of a difference between it and the renders. However, I understand that you're trying to match with SA Calm Depths, and for good reason.

Personally I joined because of the grayish blue base. It’s very unique. I’d personally be very disappointed with a navy blue alpha. But again, I’d hear out what other buyer say about this one.
Edit: if there are more straight forward comparisons under correct white balance it will be great. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong cap or something and it felt way off...

it appears yesterdays photos caused a bit of a concern for some. First of all I'd like to emphasize that my goal from the beginning has been to replicate the colors of the SA version as closely as possible. I hope this was clear as this was stated in the group buy description at the very top, I have no intentions to mislead anyone into a different product. I will try to improve color accuracy in my renders in the future to hopefully avoid situations like these (luckily the next set is mostly gray, so this should not be an issue there). I do all my renders in a fully desaturated lighting environment, so whatever pantone/ral/hex/rgb colors I am using (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Signature_Plastics_ABS_colours in this case) should be unaffected. The only change would be brightness depending on how much light I use in the scene, and bounce light from neighboring keys (e.g. a red accent key will bounce off some light onto surrounding keys, giving them a small area of red highlight). However the overall tone should be rather close to what you would see IRL in a neutral lighting environment.
Below you will find another picture, this time taken at my desk with no artificial lights, solely the natural winter sunlight that is coming through my window. While it still hasn't got the 'grayish' aesthetic that

Given the recent hoo-ha over GMK Necro, I wonder if there's any way to improve the colour accuracy of renders to prevent potential misunderstandings.
EDIT: Perhaps a designer out there might want to take a stab at a new colour way matching the renders here? "Calmer Depths" Heh Heh...

Hey everyone,
it appears yesterdays photos caused a bit of a concern for some. First of all I'd like to emphasize that my goal from the beginning has been to replicate the colors of the SA version as closely as possible. I hope this was clear as this was stated in the group buy description at the very top, I have no intentions to mislead anyone into a different product. I will try to improve color accuracy in my renders in the future to hopefully avoid situations like these (luckily the next set is mostly gray, so this should not be an issue there). I do all my renders in a fully desaturated lighting environment, so whatever pantone/ral/hex/rgb colors I am using (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Signature_Plastics_ABS_colours in this case) should be unaffected. The only change would be brightness depending on how much light I use in the scene, and bounce light from neighboring keys (e.g. a red accent key will bounce off some light onto surrounding keys, giving them a small area of red highlight). However the overall tone should be rather close to what you would see IRL in a neutral lighting environment.
Below you will find another picture, this time taken at my desk with no artificial lights, solely the natural winter sunlight that is coming through my window. While it still hasn't got the 'grayish' aesthetic thatsome of you are seekingthe renders give off, it should have less of the navy tone that was mentioned. May be I am going blind, but I dont see any hint of grey in the blue keys on either of the pics posted.
The renders have a gray component in the alphas color, while the real photos do not. That is why there is some concern.

Shipping date on my invoice is 30.04. That's when GMK will ship out the set at the latest. It will take a bit to cross the Atlantic and then go through US customs, not entirely sure what the standard timeline for that is. There's no reason for concern as far as I can tell.

Color matching is perfect, keep in mind that the SA caps are from the original run and have seen quite some use, so they are much shinier than the straight out of the box GMK caps (which by default have a bit rougher top surface than SA caps).

Beautiful. The tray designs keep getting better and better. To think that it wasn't all that long ago that GMK sets were just coming in unsleeved trays or ziplock bags straight from GMK.

I was actually waiting to receive the shipping notification before going in on GMK Nines (also sold via Kono), so I guess I'm SOL there. I'll just put that money towards SA Laser or something else.

Can't really, MOQ is too high if this kit is produced on its own and not alongside a base kit GB. Since it's custom colors, you'd have to order 250 units from GMK now.

Aw man, getting kinda nervous. I returned the assembly kit to Kono so that they'd ship the base kit I ordered. Hopefully they still have a kit for me... :(
