Production updateZebrawood, Walnut, and Oak styles are all machined, hand-shaped, and sanded - I'm applying the finish coatings on those whenever my hands start to cramp up and need a break from the Wenge styles...
Wenge is hard. It likes to split, gives you splinters if you even look at it wrong, and it is literally just plain
hard. Hand-shaping all edges, securing small splits, and cleaning up corners has taken up many nights the last week, and I still have two more full nights of sanding at this rate. (and two more Wenge+Padauk units to glue & machine, had to chase down some more wood without buying an entire board)
I have non-negotiable break for a trip to California for a wedding the 22nd-30th, but I'm busting my butt to get as many ready-to-ship before then (the finish has to be completely cured before I pack them up, so we'll see). The second wave (all remaining orders) will be out the door by July 10.
To be realistic there's still details around shipping I haven't set in stone yet, so worst case the "second wave" is actually all the orders. Thanks for your patience everyone!
Might hold onto it for other split boards, or if I ever buy a VE.A =)
Bummer... if it makes you feel any better, I haven't found one I can afford either! These have a big enough platform to fit many other split boards though; even an ergodox if you don't mind it looking goofy
Don't forget to keep mine raw & unfinished tho pls
You got it, and I'll put a couple test scraps in the box also. I'm happy to put a single coat of wax-free shellac just as a sealer if you want also.
