Microsoft explorer mouse. Best mouse I've ever used and I've used like 30 of them at the last. Don't use those crappy rechargeables they give you though, just use any non rechargeable battery, seems like it lasts forever before needing replacement.

Roccat Savu is by far my favorite on PC.  Driver software is great.  On the Mac I use the Razer Abyssus because DPI and polling rate are hardware switches underneath, no driver needed.

Roccat mice don't need any drivers. Everything¹ is stored in the on-board memory. Even the shiny Roccat's software isn't required for configuration, thanks Stefan Achatz' open-source GNU/Linux drivers.

I have used laser mice ever since ball mice were "obsolete". And I have purchased a LOT of mice. Shameful amount...

I recently purchased a Steelseries Rival. Jebus Rice on a bicycle, I had no idea what I was missing. In every way, it tracks more smoothly and more accurate.

In FPS games I have always wondered why some people's mouse movements seemed more fluid than others while spectating, and I believe it's because they were using optical sensors now. I get much better accuracy and am now playing CS:GO and other shooters with a new lease on PC gaming. If you don't own an optical mouse, I highly recommend the SS Rival...

I have mine set to 1:1 acceleration (none, basically.) And I like the purple hue mine is currently set at, it's like an "arcane" purple if I had to name it. I also changed the "CPI toggle" button to just be button 6. This thing is just butter...

I'm probably gonna sell my MMO mice because I've quit MMO's entirely, and now that I think of it, my Steelseries Sensei (there's no comparison. The Rival is a better mouse entirely, especially because I'm right-handed.)

Edit;
The scroll wheel. Let's not forget about the scroll wheel - at first it had some squeak to it but now that's dissipated after some use. It is very accurate, just like all Steelseries scroll wheels. (accurate meaning in counter strike it will switch one weapon, every time, reliably when you go up or down one notch. Haven't had this success with the Razer mice I've tried...)

Found this pic on Google Images but it's very close to the purple I've got mine at currently. And the Rival is just too secksi...

Yea. The jump from a laser to an optical sensor is something of an unexpected revelation. You would think the accel on laser mice isn't all that bad and/or too noticeable, but once you get on the optical... it's hard to go back to a laser.

My favorite is the Logitech MX600.  It's wireless and has 9 buttons.  (It has forward/backward, and I programmed the other for vol up/down).  I had to return it when Logitech replaced my MX3200 Keyboard/Mouse combo with a new MK710.  The M705 is pretty good, too.  3 yr battery life, wireless, forward/backward.

I also have a Logitech M570 wireless trackball.

I'm tempted to get a CST2545-5W and maybe a Kensington Trackball.

Yeah the Mrs likes it a lot, specially the 'scroll wheel' which is perfect for her in Excel and Access.

Who would of thought, simply a choice in scrolling would lead so many people to acquiring a Logitech Mouse  :thumb: .

So far IME3.0, works over 7 years.

Trying to replace it is a nightmare, since I need higher DPI for a higher resolution screen.
Zowie EC1 is too small and with many issues that make it NOT a good replacement for IME3.0. Disappointed with Zowie, won't fix their manufacturing & design issues.

I know the feeling, cause back in the day I went the MX518 route, while I wasn't completely dissatisfied with it, the IME3.0 that my friend had felt A LOT better on my hand and while playing (CS, that's the only game I care about in terms of peripherals and their performance).

I'm currently and positively stuck with a Logitech G400 right now, but your best bet to upgrade from the IME3.0 to a newer/more advanced mouse, would be either the DeathAdder 3.5G or the DeathAdder 2013. Both have a very good optical sensor, they don't need drivers (only once to setup the DPI steps you want the mouse to have & setup the usb pooling rate), the shape is very similar to the IME3.0 (not as high as the IME3.0 "bump", but it is very comfortable to play with/work for long sessions). The tracking is amazing either on cloth mousepad or plastic/hardmats (I've tested all my mice on a Ozone K1CK Esports mousepad, it's pratically the same as the QcK Heavy but has branding, and a Steelseries 9HD). Consider buying 2 or 3 extra mouse feet replacement sets though, cause the ones on the DA 3.5G wear out fast, not sure about the 2013 version though.

All in all, if you still think the IME3.0 is something you can't let go off (make sure you overclock the pooling rate, default is 125hz, and the sweet spot for it is the 500hz range), they are still possible to be bought from ebay and the like. Would be amazing if Microsoft revived that design, and the IME1.1/WMO, but with upgraded sensors, switches and scroll wheel :)

I've had the MX310, G5, Naos 3200, G9x, DA 2013, Naos 8200, G300, G502 and the G402.

My favorite mouse among them is the G502.

My g9 is on its last legs: cord is frayed, both cases worn damn near through, scroll wheel iffy... and I'm scared of change! By FAR my fav mouse I've ever used. Is the 502 really that comparable?

I would say that the G502 is the closest in terms of feel and features to the G9x with the obvious exception of the mouse wheel and interchangeable grip shells. The sensor though, is on a whole other level with the G502.

I have a WMO 1.1 that I use very rarely, love it. I just don't want to break it  :))

I've gone through 2 OG Razer Diamondbacks and still use one as my daily driver on my home PC. Something about the size fits my smaller hands very well. Though they're a pain to clean. I'm in the market for a new mouse and I think I'll be going with a Zowie FK, sounds like its the most similar to the DB in shape and size but with a nicer sensor.

It's still the most desired by Gaming fanatics everywhere.  Imagine Microsoft made something by mistake all those years ago and now they've all become famous (WMO 1.1, IME 1.1, IE 3.0 series).

Roccat Kone XTD is by far the mouse I've owned. I don't need 1000GHZ polling rate or fancy sensors or whatever. I need a decent mouse with good ergonomics and the Roccat is super confortable. Never felt like the mouse was a problem in any gaming or work related tasks.

Logitech G400, had it for three years, and is still going strong to this day.  I have heard so many good things about the Zowie FK1 though which is making me want to get one, but I'm not sure if the huano switches would be too favorable for the MMO gaming I do.  I wish Zowie would update the EC1/2 sometime soon.
