I think the base like the sanctuary GB will be sufficient, too many, you are adding cost to a majority of people who might not even use it forever :D

Do you have any idea how well a backlight would show through the TOX colour?

No idea since it will be a brand new color we have no experience with. Probably similar to how yellow keys would be. With TOX as the legend it would show even less.

Probably not very well, with perhaps green and white LEDs showing best results.  Try with CCnG would probably give the closest results.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If you mean with GMK, I'm not sure we can easily ask for custom keys knowing this would be our first run with them

This is correct, the base set will come with regular number row, and toxic number row.

Also concerning the Windows 8 keys I may make them available separate from the base kit. Not everyone likes them, and there are so many keys as part of the base kit I wanted to try and trim it down for cost saving purposes. The included, and a-la-carte "Tsangan" kits will be trimmed into a Winkeyless (1.5X modifiers) kit with a couple less keys, also intending to save people some money. Once the new mock ups are available everything should be clear.

Yeah, they've already said that they don't want people flooding them with requests and that as a community we should go through a single person, in which they chose Dan.

Maybe for the first order at least.  I'd hate to think Dan had to coordinate all future group buys.

Maybe once GH establishes our credentials with GMK, they will allow orders to be placed by several people.

If they are a smart company they will allow who ever wants to place orders to work with them. Dan doesn't represent GH, DT, KBMania, and other sources that I want to run this group buy in conjunction for so.....

It is looking like depending on what they are capable of then Cherry replica font through SP may be torpedoed?

It may end up that the larger group buys will go through GMK, whereas the smaller or less choosy ones stay with SP.

It sounds as if GMK usually cater for large industrial orders, somewhat above the usual group buy of a hundred or so sets.

+1

Also is it possible that GMK will have a green that is even more toxic than the one we selected?

Cherry font.

With SP it might or might not happen, with GMK they might be able to provide it right away.

That's what we're waiting to find out.  If they will, and can provide Cherry font from the go, it might be a more practicable option than SP, who might not be able to provide Cherry font at all.

Perhaps it can be put to the vote.

But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Well really even the fastest way possible isn't going to be that fast because I want to leave it open for awhile to hit some big numbers.

Loving this idea.  Consider my interest piqued.
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

A few of us would prefer this to proceed next year due to funding issues.
I've said it a coupe times but the idea is to start the group buy ASAP and let it run until probably sometime in March.
