Hi guys, I have been playing with various approaches to mill keycap mounts. I am basically doing this for my Keymacs project in order to make keycaps with versatile mounts because I like to build keyboards on modern as well as vintage switches with odd mounts. As a by-product, I made this video showing how to convert an MX keycap to an Alps mount:
It is tedious, of course, but a small desktop CNC with a certain degree of your patience is sufficient to do the job.
You basically just fill the inside of the keycap with a resin and then you can mill any mount you want (precise zeroing of your CNC is the only obstacle). I like the fact that the remnants of the MX cross mount are still visible.
