Dropped my thesis, realised there's no jobs for this degree where I live besides going into academia, not sure what I'm doing with my life
Going into academia isn't that bad!
My dad is an accounting professor at a university here and he loves his job.
Depends entirely on the university and the program. Some of them get really political (within the department, not conservative v liberal) with a ton of bull****, especially if you don't exactly agree with the theories that the inside group in the department ascribe to. I left grad school after my M.A. because I was tired of the bull****, the posturing, the ass kissing, and everything else. Academia is where ideas go to die...unless your idea conforms to the ideas and theories that most of the people in your department ascribe to. Unless you know you're going to love it, it's an apolitical department, and/or your drive can overcome the bullshot, stay far far away from grad school.
If you can't tell, I'm still bitter.
Anyways, I'm sure you'll figure something out jaemzp. No matter how futile you think your degree is, I'm sure you'll find something worthwhile to do.
