It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Clearly, it's time to go next level.  Socks on keyboards, keyboards in shoes.

Or go to the other end of the body and post keyboards with "fedoras".

probably. guy's recent posting history pretty consists entirely of begging others to sell Clacks to him, in a totally unabashed manner too. ironically he refused the only offer he was given, but not before letting the whole world know that the person who offered it to him is the devil incarnate

I've seen yellow blanks like that from CC - he's just copying the design (notice how thick the top part is) and colours, then adds a couple of different colours.

Grrr.

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. I hate the fake stuff, and have said so many times. That said I don't see how we can say he's copying the blanks just because they have thick tops. Seems like most of the custom cap makers add clay to the original plug inside to thicken the top, right?

I'm not going to buy his stuff either way just saying maybe he didn't copy these blanks.

personally i don't see how someone else has the right to make a dota cap but k3 doesn't.
its not like any of these people making dota caps has the approval of Valve anyway.

Now you can argue you don't wanna support k3 morally i guess that's fine.  But if you're worried about "copying", its really not as we're all happy to get DOTA/League/SC2 stuff.  I mean the Kmiller esports team PBT dyesub caps were def made without any approval of the teams lol.

It was pretty big news; http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/mar/31/apple-sues-samsung-for-2bn

I think Apple won? It went on for months and I lost interest.. but from the documents that came out in court Samsung basically said to there design team to copy the iPhone

I just don't understand, if he has that kind of tooling why doesn't he make something cool on his own. Or hire an artist to create a cool design.

The argument for knock-offs makes sense if you are talking about Nikes or something with a broad market, but to replicate something so niche is baffling. I don't like the racist thoughts it puts in my head about Asians being bootleggers.

The argument for knock-offs makes sense if you are talking about Nikes or something with a broad market, but to replicate something so niche is baffling. I don't like the racist thoughts it puts in my head about Asians being bootleggers.
Why does this make sense? This isnt self evident to me.

I guess it doesn't really make sense, you're right. It's just a weird thing to decide to make knock-offs of.

I just don't understand, if he has that kind of tooling why doesn't he make something cool on his own. Or hire an artist to create a cool design.
I completely agree.

Well, with things like designer purses and Nikes the knockoffs are typically sold at a fraction of a price to a market that has a high demand for those particular brands. It makes sense because they capitalize on a brand's image while selling low quality, high margin products while enabling those who purchase them to claim they own a highly sought after good (often they convey a certain status as well). In this case it's slightly more confusing because K3 is selling his knockoffs for as much or in some cases more than the originals went for. The only reason he manages to sell anything is because the product he's ripping off is not one that can necessarily be obtained even if you have the money to buy one (second hand or otherwise). The only status/prestige to be achieved with the knockoffs is on these kinds of communities (even mech enthusiasts I know in real life don't get my fascination with artisan caps), but in all honesty anyone posting crick cracks on here will get laughed off the forum. It's all pretty strange, but when people realize that posting pics of their crick cracks won't get them the kind of attention they're seeking I imagine the demand will dry up.

i see clacks/v2's as an association with GH, little trophies of being part of the forum. I remember when i was/am a freshy here and i had no clacks/brobots. I started posting more and they became easier to obtain. Its funny how the people buying the fakes want something that is a huge part of this community (hence why Bro/ClickClack have GH requirements to join in the sales) but do not want to be a part of the community. K3's are like the ultimate poser caps, why have caps that associate you with GH if you are not going to be a member? Then again half the people on reddit are already talking about flipping the EK clacks if they win...

I think this sums up the madness nicely and I completely agree. Good post.

I think the most ironic thing is the fact that a bunch of them are trying to justify their soon to be flipping by saying they are doing it to screw over geekhack. No, they are doing it because it's easy money for them, in the same way that some geekhack members see clack sales, unfortunately. I really think the whole karma thing might have a big impact on peoples opinions on reddit though, that is a big reason I do not use reddit. For them to call geekhack a circlejerk is hilarious. If r/mk didn't have karma I feel like a bunch of redditors might actual form their own opinions rather than jumping on the bandwagon for their meaningless internet points.

No one expects to walk away with a clack from any sale so it's a pleasant surprise when it does happen, it's something special. In a twisted way it's nice the influx of new members here for the sole purpose of having a chance to buy and sell clacks at drastically inflated costs are selling the clacks back to the people who care about them. I mean it's ****ed sure, but at least we're getting our soldiers back from the terrorists.

i don't.

and i think it's ridiculous to think that way. your trophy is contributing to the forum, not a piece of plastic a vendor sells you. all that mentality creates is GH becoming a cool kids club that you can just buy yourself into.

honestly, all im seeing is "i have a clack, im part of gh!"

what about the people that don't care for them? does that make them less part of GH because they don't have plastic trophies?

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Opinons demik, thats just the way i feel when i look down at my keyboard. Clacks and bots are mostly traded through GH and can only be purchased from the makers having a GH account (minus the EK sales/wingnut cap) We all collect different things on the forum, unfortunately clacks and bots are one of the few things that are GH exclusive. So in my mind it portrays some sort of affiliation with the site if you do have one.

im not saying anyone is less a member for not having clacks/bots (not sure what exactly that even means). We all have different tastes, i was speaking more so on what exactly artisan caps represent to me personally.

GH is already the cool kids club, artisan caps have nothing to do with that. Than again i am sitting here in my GH tshirt looking at gh60 keyboards...
