Hello guys, this is Della Key from South Korean Artisan maker.

I'm so happy to introduce our first non-artisan work. Of course but it is still in the boundary of artisan.

It names 'Sanctuary'. quite intuitive name I think.

I wanna express the elegant and majestic beauty of the curve line. Like a melody of grand piano, a belly side of a whale





2. Spec

1). Material : CNC 606x Aluminum

2). Colors (not fixed) : E-White / E-Beige / Anodized Deep Navy / Anodized Black

3). Badge & Bottom side logo : Resin made badges (more colors & design will be released soon)

The First Sample came to us. these are the sample pictures.

1. However there's a small mistake at sample. the width of bumpon hole has a mistake at design. it is wider than bumpon. Of course it will be modified to fit with hole size.

2. and we decide to change the bottom logo & badge logo from prototype logo to our traditional logo (cute wooly logo you guys already know!)

3. also the font on rear side is gonna change to a new font (same as font on below side of the images)

4. now the badge rotates ifself too easy, so gonna make a guide to prevent such problem.

5. The resin expression technique is being tested and is in the R&D phase. It will change for the better.

This is our development log. you can see how we have developed Sanctuary from zero to Proto. if you have a interest to our work, this log will provide lots of fun to you.



Sanctuary

We wanna provide a shelter to all the artisans. So many artisans we've collected usually sleep in their cases. We thought such long long hibernation is very meaningless to our lovers.

Cool artisans make a great synergy when they are displayed together.  Even they are not same sculpture or brand. When they assemble, the scenery looks like a holy altar.

So we have decided to make an artisan tray for them, because we are also an artisan collector before as a maker.

However, there is only simple designed tray in the market. So we make up our mind to design beautiful house for our babies.



1st design



This is the first drawing. we are inspired from Osanbashi Hall in Yokohama, Japan, Grand Piano, the curve of the whale's belly side, and Horizon. We tried to express the elegance and magnificent feeling of curve.

We found some problems after 1st proto with our 3d printer.

1. the upper side was quite far from elegance.
 - chamfer on the upper side line instead of round shape.
 - emphasize the curvature of left&right side

2. the density of artisans is not enough. The disctance between each artisans is far apart.
 - decrease the inner frame thickness from 3mm to 2mm.
 - also, chamfer the inner frame to look thinner.

3. the stem holder parts are too thick and the tolerance falls short.
 - reduce the thickness of stem holder form 2.5mm to 1.85mm.
 - almost of artisan stem's diameter is around 5.6mm~5.8mm. we checked 10 kinds of artisans for this work.
 - So we make the stem holder's inner diameter to 6.3mm for stable mount.



2nd deisgn



this is 2nd ver. prototype. Increase the side's curve value for making natural shade. Because of this, the tray's aethetic gets better.

However, there was still a matter. Our target is the most beautiful artisan tray below the monitor. but after we tested it, the angle was lower than expected, so the artisans on the tray would not be optimzed to user's view. (2nd proto was 8 degree)

So we made many samples those have various kind of angle. Then we found the answer. 17 degree is the most optimized angle for who sits in front of 70cm height desk.



3rd design



1. Finished modelling badge parts. it had been just abstract until modeling.
 - We thought that the tray is also a kind of artwork. So there should be added a hand-crafted part.
 - hand-crafting with resin is one of our the most confidential skill. We never hesitated to use our best skill.

2. The badge will be made of resin
 - our new logo is going to be engraved on the badge.
 - The badge will be attached at the tray with magnet.

3. the bottom side
 - the logo on the bottom side looks like metalic at render, but it will be not made of metal.
 - It will be filled with Resin Fluid Art.
 - we are going to upload after making next 3D printed proto.

4. The logo on the proto is our new logo for keyboard, tray, ...etc.
  - We avoid to our artisan's brand image gonna mix up with industrial product.
  - that's why we make new logo for our industrial work such as tray... and keyboard (in the future...maybe...)



so, this is our last prototype with 3d printer
